  1. Has any of Wolf buddies posted odds on the outcome? I think he will win in a real court of law.

  2. At one time this mattered. But SC got slammed with sanctions that set it back probably 7 years or so. And so it is over, we cannot recover those lost 7-years, so I don’t care much about the McNair trial.

      • Absolutely, love it, steveg. [I sure hope the trial judge doesn’t allow any continuance for any reason—-this thing is stale enough]!

          • Civil appeals are limited and don’t take forever like winding through the criminal system.

If there’s a big judgment, the appeal process is all about settlement discussions really. That’s not a place the NCAA wants to be because they’ve already offered to settle, just not enough, but not nearly as much as they’ll pay if a big judgment comes in and the evil doers are seen gagging over their depositions in open court.

          • The only winners in the McNair lawsuit are the attorneys billing the NCAA.

If the trial takes place, Little Petey will be subpoenaed and forced, under oath, to defend his fib he didn’t know squat.

            #”Hee, Hee”

          • You are so uninformed re this case. Sometimes it better to be thought a fool…

          • Unfortnutaely, this will be settled out of court, with no trial. Mc Nair becoms a very rich man because the nazis at the ncaa screwed him out of his livelihood, and just owned ignorance and utter stupidity knows no bounds!

          • Gee Phil, so no trial if the lawsuit is settled out of court? Who knew?

Sidebar Phil: If there is any settlement, McNair might see about 10 – 15% of it.

          • Your responses are so incoherent and childish I am convinced of two things:
            1) you graduated from ucla
            2) You voted for Hillary

          • Too bad Johnny Cheetin Wooden didn’t have to testify. He probably would have lied along with Gilbert

    • The alleged house payment and McNair’s knowledge of Reggie Bush extra benefits happened 14 years ago…talk abotu justice delayed!

    • But I’m hoping there is some fallout from it, like Reggie getting his Heisman back or at the least being able to be associated with the university again. Not sure how possible that is though.

      • Reggie’s obviously guilty or he never would have given his Heisman back, unless he’s just an idiot.

He never once lifted a finger to help USC once he refused to pay off Lake and the story broke. Not exactly a stand-up guy. He just sat by and let USC burn.

Bush turned out to be too good to be true, just like in the NFL where he never closely lived up to the hype, except as a decoy. What goes around, comes around.

        • The notion among some that Reggie should be welcomed back to USC with open arms is misguided in the extreme. He should remain persona non grata forever.

          • USC doesn’t need him. He and his family did more damage to USC than any player in the history of USC football. Good riddance Reggie. Maybe you can be Kelly Ripa’s newest co-host.

          • That’ll never happen. Reggie cheated, got caught, and his Heisman wasn’t pulled because of McNair. Reggie brought it all on himself. Personally, I believe a lot of Heisman winners have cheated, some much worse, but Reggie handled it all so poorly that he was forced to cough his trophy up.

  3. Case will still settle. Now that we finally have the all-important trial date and people have to talk publicly under oath, the entire emphasis will shift to cutting potential losses, especially in view of recent plaintiff verdicts and smart money received by people like Hulk Hogan, etc.

Plus, the NCAA has such deep pockets and big vulnerability that the possibility of a bad legal precedent on the books isn’t worth the risk. I’d love to see it go to trial based on what we have all heard – but I can’t believe the NCAA would allow it. The NCAA shot all their bullets and they still have to go to court with a judge they hate. So they lost every important motion and now have a bunch of USC haters and felons who have to take the stand and pretend they were fair and honest. That’s just not a good posture.

  4. SC could have had excess BS over ruled and restore wins and championships if they had joined in…but cowards they are…hope he bankrupts ncaa

      • ya’but an amicus brief agreeing, or ask to join in since it is 1 full year away would make sense, so I guess that means it won’t happen

  5. The wheels of justice are beyond slow. They’re stalled. McNair’s case has been percolating now for about a decade. How can that be. Whether a case is complicated or easy and clear cut, the timetable for a decisive hearing is an embarrassment.

  6. Stick it to them Todd, stick it hard (especially since Nikias is part of the NCAA power group).

  7. Maybe we’ll get to a judgment before we’re all dead and gone…. Way to go, California Court system….

  8. The big question that will likely go unanswered is who was the driving force behind the NCAA to go after USC with such vengeance. Several seemingly unrelated events: 1. The Spring 2006 Pro Day was described in the LA Times as the “Mother of all Pro Days”. Shortly thereafter, Recruits and the General Public were banned from Pro Days due to “An Unfair Recruiting Advantage”. Who pushed for this legislation? 2. When Texas A&M joined the SEC, they dropped a Home & Home against USC claiming “SEC Scheduling Challenges”…yet they opened those seasons with two Pac 12 teams (Arizona State & UCLA). Curious…3. Georgia was the most logical choice to join USC in the Rose Bowl after the 2007 season as the Rose Bowl had first pick due to Ohio State being in the BCS Title game. As in Risky Business, :Looks like the University of Illinois”. Curious choice…4. Auburn’s undefeated team was left out of the BCS Title Game in 2004 in favor of Oklahoma, even though OU had lost to an SEC team the prior year. Curious. 5. USC had the same record as SEC Bowl Participants in 2003, 2007 and 2008 but was excluded. Curious.
I have been convinced this was an economic ESPN Mafia Hit to enhance the SEC and Big Ten values, and the double digit beat downs USC regularly inflicted on these conferences was not helping the cause. Having ESPN create and fund the Longhorn Network to keep the Pac 12 from becoming a Football Super Conference is also curious. Mike Slive and the SEC hired the late Chuck Gerber as a Consultant away from ESPN in 2009 as well…Now about the JFK assassination and George Hickey……..LOL
