Women’s Basketball Update

Destiny Littleton, the nation’s leading scorer who originally signed a letter of intent with USC, decided she will go to Texas after the 50-day coaching search. So USC loses her and guard Minyon Moore, the second-leading scorer last season. OK, back to football.

  1. Unless you’re a star in football, men’s basketball, or baseball, you should pick the school based on the academics of the school. Your athletic career is over after college so get a degree in a field that actually leads to a career. Don’t major in Sociology, Social Justice, Ethnic Studies, etc just to stay eligible because after 4 years you will have nothing to show for your time there.

  2. It was a disastrous women’s coaching search and hire, obviously. Perfect for SW. USC saved a few thousand dollars here and will pay for it in both the short and the long run. Too bad. Didn’t have to be this way. Of course there will be those who say retread Trakh could be the next Carroll. Hah. Good luck with that.

Here’s to USC football! We’re back. Should be a great 2017 season.

    • Disastrous for sure. We had two McDonald’s All Americans with a chance at a third when the coaching search started. We lost the top player in the nation by some. We may lose the other MAA now. The outside POV from players is clear. Not good.

      • So sense sugarcoating this pig. USC’s one of the great college sports traditions but the administration obviously doesn’t care about women’s BB. I never really knew that until now. BS.

        • Still plenty of talented young ladies in LA and the surrounding local areas who would love to attend USC. I know this to be very true. It’s up to women of Troy BBall coaches and scouts to reach out to these young ladies.

    • Okay who was your top two choices if money not an issue?
Agree coaches national search has been a sore spot lately
under Haden and Swann. Teams played hard under Trakh, and hopefully he refined his coaching at NM St. winning three conference titles in last three years.

  3. Littleton is small even for the woman’s game. If UConn. Baylor and the other USC not interested no great loss. Trojans need size who can play inside. All of Cooper – Dyke’s AA recruited where did the team finish last few years.. Time will tell is the old adage.

    • Sorry I didn’t see your post earlier. TOTALLY AGREE! Both Michael Cooper and Cynthia Cooper-Dyke were unable to attract talented bigs and they settled for a bevvy of guards and wings. You cannot expect to compete and win that way in the PAC-12. Let’s see if Trakh and his assistants can reshape the team.
