JuJu Smith-Schuster To Pittsburgh

USC WR JuJu Smith-Schuster was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 62nd pick, which was the third-to-last pick of the second round.

Maybe Lynn Swann will have some good advice on Pittsburgh for Juju Smith-Schuster. “In 40 years, you can become USC athletic director.”

  1. First two rounds: :PAC-12 had 6 teams with drafted players. The Huskies led with 4 being a WR, 2 CBs, and one S. Wash St, OR, OR St, Cal, AZ, AZ St nada.

      • Traditionally, aside from USC, it is….the Pac-12 seems to play ‘patty cake patty cake make me a man’ with the Big-12….then again it’s good to be king!

          • No back in 1970 before the season began he made sure everyone understood he was no longer TThaysman’ it was now ‘Joe Thighsman….then he and the ‘the princess’ at 9 – 0 came west for that infamous…in the rain…loss against a USC 5-4-1 squad….the photo for the game they used in ‘El Rodeo’ when you turned the page in the football section specific to ‘that’ game after the loss to bel-air tech read ‘….and then there was Notre Dame’ and a photo of John Vella with a huge grin on his face in uniform after a great gain.

Theismann used to needle Rodger Staubach career and Roger knocked him back with “…I guess Joe but I sure know what it means to win the ‘Heisman’!”

          • Thought he pronounced it “snap, crackle, pop”, oops, never mind, that was the sound his leg made when he got smushed on Monday Night Football…

  2. What rounds do the remaining Trojans with a shot go in?

    Banner? 5th?
    Stevie? 6th?
    Damien? 7th
    Chad? 5th?
    Justin? Ehh…

    What do you guys think?

    • Banner’s an overweight joke that had to be moved to the of the OL because he was so huge….a team would be nuts to pick him.

      • You may or may not remember, but Banner suited up for the BB team his freshman year. I remember seeing him in the layup line at Pauley. Dude was just massive. Don’t think I have ever seen a bigger guy on the court, other than Shaq.

  3. Wow, who cares if it the last pick in the second round. It is still the second round. Very petty. Good for you JuJu.

  4. Top notch stuff, Scott.
A special thanks for clarifying how late in the second round the 62nd pick is.

  5. LAA 13 – 12 and LAD (currently) 11 – 12…Vinny…why? Gone are the days….where is vin-dawg chevroet? If only….who’ll lead us

      • Maybe Mr. Bodine hmmm I do so love hearing from you and your ‘needle’ but hey that night I’ll be rehearsing the kids I’m getting ready for their First Holy Communion elsewhere and leave it to, such as you, that grovel at the hooves of the ‘vin-dawg chevrolet’ on just why he truly is ‘old scratch’…..

Best is brooklyn off the air for the 4th year in a row, that greedy deal that bankrupted Time-Warner and even better last year was the last time ‘gawd’ broadcast w.o. a ‘national simulcast’ of him deigning to grace all with the end of that sweet sweet deal he glomed way back when he was a mature 23 yrs. of age… Hey ‘Vinnie’ how about you bore us all to death on how tough it was getting that gig in 1950 Talk about paying your dues huh?

    • Alvarado, Mike Trout is wasting his career in Anaheim or Los Angeles. Weren’t they the California Angels at one time? They have no tradition. Anaheim doesn’t have a roster or farm system to get him to October. Nolan Ryan, Reggie Jackson, Albert Pujols and there’s more I’m sure, but Anaheim is where stars go to burn out. Scoscia brought an attitude early on and had a good staff around him. Right now you are praying for a pitching staff that will last 162 baseball games.
Wait a while for the season to play out. 13-12 won’t win the division.

      • Lot of truth there but I wouldn’t necessarily write them off due to being in the OC. They drew 3 million recently and are consistently 3rd in attendance in MLB. As to the farm – yes a whole lot stems from Moreno foolishly thinking the way Jimmy Buss did that anyone can be a GM i.e. CJ Wilson, Josh Hamilton and for me the worst of all is Pujols even when he hits as he did this evening. No one is worth a 10 year deal at his age save Mike Trout certainly not Senor Modesto which Pujols is not and never shall be and the LAA still have 5 years left on that awful deal thanks to Moreno. That is where the farm system died signing Pujols. Scoscia should have been sacked 3 years ago and yet there he is in his 17th year. Compared to the Dodgers what? The same relevancy as Notre Dame – next year is 30 years and counting and what with Scully gone the last of their fantasy connection to their origins – mind you a huge following here in the LA area but frankly the NFL is continuing to erode what support MLB has had since the early 80’s and that greedy deal Dodger ownership squeezed the life out of Time Warner is why they’re now called ‘Spectrum’ – it bankrupted Time Warner. Fourth year of no local broadcast of games due to an ill-conceived cable deal w.o. an offsetting NBA or NHL partner unlike the Red Sox or Yankees – i.e. even if we Direct TV subscribers got SportsNetLA who the heck wants to watch baseball games 24/7 that are taped or worse watch interviews of old players and other personnel during December? Friedman is a glorified plantation boss that caught lightening in a bottle down in Tampa with Joe Maddon but has delegated his role away by installing a weird layer of underlings no other MLB team has. In the end the LAD isn’t any better prepared for the next 30 years then the LAA are – and worst for the LAD, unlike the Angels, kids have no connection to the Dodgers due to that horrible tv deal – if they’re not watching when they start having kids they’re not going to attend.

  6. Obvious the announcer has never been in the ocean in Southern California in April — not warm.

  7. Good for JuJu. He’s a rare personality. Glad this worked out for him and that he’ll be catching passes from Big Ben.

    • He’ll be the youngest player in the NFL. He won’t be able to get a beer after the game until after the 12th game.

  8. I’m starting to think it would be fun to imagine SW at any kind of event where something good happened. Start a campaign for SW to give the best man speech at your wedding or a retirement party congratulations. For the wedding: “Wow, Ted got re-married. I guess somebody forgot to remind him how his first marriage worked out. I’d be surprised if we don’t start seeing this thing come apart in two years. But Pat Haden approved of this marriage so I guess that means it can’t go wrong.”

  9. Lynn might also tell him about 4X Super Bowls, 2X Pro Bowls and the Football Hall of Fame.

  10. Did anyone compare JuJu and lynn swann before? Because they shouldn’t.
