What Is “Great”

Last week, USC athletic director Lynn Swann said the track teams “have had a great season.” This was after the men’s and women’s teams split the dual meet with UCLA. On Sunday, the men’s and women’s teams both placed second at the Pac-12 championships. There is no shame in finishing behind Oregon, which has swept the Pac-12 meet for nine straight years. But is a dual-meet split and second in Pac-12’s really “great?”

  1. You know Scott one can’t help but wonder what kind of ‘hold’ Pat Haden has on you that prevents you from ever saying a thing about him since he was unmasked nearly a year ago.

He allegedly has had a huge impact on the renovation and changes made to seating at the Coliseum but for some strange reason known only to you – you never ever mention a word about Pat Haden – why is that?

You make sport of a number of other individuals of influence on campus but never Haden least not since he scurried away into what ever warren he found to burrow into.

Again what is Haden’s influence and ‘unseen hand’ in all of this and what has been any penalty or setback that he has incurred – if any – It will be 1 full year 5 weeks from yesterday when the story broke – 18th June 2016 – what’s going on Scott?

  2. That is considered great for f uucla, not USC. Lynn needs to recall what USC was doing in track, baseball, tennis and football when he was a student.

    • marvgoux!, Is it likely that SW never in his life finished Second or even in the Top Ten in anything ? No wonder he has a Defiance against Intensity, Stamina, Success, and Greatness ???

        • Hey Owns, what does your heroine Hillary and Hillary loving San Antonio Spurs Head Coach Greg Popovich have in common?

They both blew 25 point leads!

        • And the ruination, where’d they finish? Foolish little man. Find a life.

    • Our track team is pretty darn good for a private school and we have a nationally recognized, superior track coach. Caryl Smith Gilbert is insanely well-regarded.

Our athletes competed exceptionally well in the Pac-12’s, except for our men’s 100M hurdler, who looked like he was running with a blindfold on.

      • Smith-Gilbert should be coaching the women only.
Really no excuse when the women get 18 scholarships to winning both the conference and a national title. Ron Allice did it with less, and almost won twice nationally. Where are the hurdlers with one Morris in the highs, and no one of magnitude in the lows? Complete nonsense with private school crap.
Athletes not leaving with any debt even on partial schollies. Pretty darn good is not good enough!

    • Hey Goop, when was the last time the POTUS was yucking it up with the ruseski’s in the Oval Office and blurting out US classified information to the enemy.

Thump just honoring Ruseski election help and dishonoring Amerika.

      • Poor Owns, your “Russia hacked Hillary” Narrative just blew up in your face. Now what are you going to cry about? BWAAAAAAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Marv,
Good to see you back on your feet. For a moment I thought you were down for the count.

  3. USC loses again to Utah 6-5 in the 9th with 2 outs, giving up a 2-run HR. How pathetic! Swept by the Utes. Remaining schedule is 2 games against UCSB and series with Oregon and WA. I anticipate that we may win 2 more games to close out this horrendous season. The argument that this team loses because there are many underclassmen doesn’t hold water. They stink at every aspect of the game.

    • This is the worst USC baseball team ever. I had no idea they were this bad until I watched a few innings of the ucla series. Why any seriously good players would want to come to USC outside of childhood dreamers or those who emphasize degree value is beyond me.

      • Coastal Carolina has won more national baseball titles than USC in almost two decades. Enough said.

        • USC, both men and women, just waxed the ucla little gutties in the Pac-12’s. Poor crappy bruins. Bent over again. Hah!
