USC Morning Buzz: 2 Football Coaches Paid $5.7 Million In 2015

USC paid some staggering salaries in 2015 according to its federal tax return, which was obtained by USA Today on Monday. Football coach Steve Sarkisian made $3,276,488 before he was fired. Athletic director Pat Haden made $2,778,147. Former football coach Lane Kiffin was paid $2,486,600 as USC continued to pay off his contract.

None of them made more than school president Max Nikias, who was paid $3,763,762. Some of the highest-paid employees were doctors: Dr. Vaughn Starnes, who is chairperson of the Dept. of Surgery, made $2,851,710. Dr. Louis Vandermolen made $2,768,334. Dr. Inderbir Singh Gill was paid $2,401,807.

One salary that was notably missing was basketball coach Andy Enfield, who is believed to make more than $2 million per year.  Haden actually made slightly more in 2014 ($2.9 million).

But Haden was not the nation’s highest-paid athletic director in 2015. Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick made $3.11 million.

  1. As excessive as those amounts truly are what exactly has ‘The Princess’ gotten from their last two ‘AD’s’? In particular Kevin White? He negotiated that huge award to Weis,. The last payment was just made for $2.5+ million for a whopping total of $19 million. He got that huge buyout clause ‘after’ losing the 2005 game the infamous ‘Bush Push’ loss.

    • Schematic Advantage (defined) – Getting paid $ 19,000,000 for doing nothing.

      • Man that is funny – yeah good ole’ Charlie’s famous idiocy claiming ‘the Princess’ would suddenly have a ‘schematic advantage’ he’d refined while working for the Patriots – how’d that work out? Same mess he made afterward @ KS too.

    • Ouch,with socks.
Those salaries seem average to me for top programs. Agree, that those 2 people did not deserve them though.

  2. You didn’t think those high priced hotdogs at the stadium were paying the salary of the vendors did you? They would use convict labor if they thought they could train them.

  3. That is unfair and no one should get paid that much. They should give that $ to the poor so there rich to.

  4. Yes, we the tax payers feel the pain everyday when we have to pay for Guerro and Mora’s salary. Let the bums at ugly raise the money and pay their salaries and have the bums stop leeching off the CA taxpayer.

  5. I’m happy, hard work has brought prosperity. It’s what standards should be it’s what America was built on, strive to be above average, have the character to push ones abilities. Again congratulations, may they get raises Soon!

  6. She better win games, if not at least we Californian will be happy we didn’t give her that contract.

    • Because Size Matters to someone who doesn’t have it perhaps?

  7. How much does the boss at the Daily Planet make? I mean how does your editor make?
How much does Ridley Scott make because I’m beyond eager to see the new Aliens movie!
How much do you too a chamber maid???

  8. Tell that to the beloved Mora backers at Thuc’s blog and they will stone you with the heavy rocks. I’m not as popular over there as much as I thought I was. New bruin posters were flashing their big and bright “I’m a mexican who lived in a special neighborhood” badge at me a few weeks ago meaning he’s a mexican (like myself) who looks down on others who didn’t attend college. That badge. The guy put his whole degree on the table and said he’s a mexican who forgets the small people who helped him along the way like bus drivers or his local diner manager. I’ll stop there, but to be honest my it’s the same exact way god sister looks at people now after graduating from westwood. Don’t ever change Dynasty and thanks for not pump the sunshine all day!

    • They both sound like typical ‘limousine liberals’ demokwats who hate Trump but keep voting for the same cabal of thieves this state has now chosen – demokratiche 100% and no reining in out of control govt. pensions – no way no how – ‘blank’ the progressive left.
