Sarkisian Left With Saban’s Blessing

When Lane Kiffin departed Alabama, he was either fired or on his way out according to most reports. I wondered if Alabama coach Nick Saban was upset his replacement, Steve Sarkisian, departed just after being named offensive coordinator?

A source who knows both said Saban understood Sarkisian’s decision to leave because it was an NFL job that would be considered an promotion for many coaches. So apparently Sarkisian and Saban are still on good terms.

  1. Saban’s vaunted defense lost the National Championship after Sark’s offense handed it to Saban on a silver platter. The question should be: Is Sark upset with Saban?

    • Disagree somewhat. AL QB not a skilled passer (at least as FR). That’s a big problem vs. top team. You need all dimensions at that level.

      • That’s my point, Ben. Sark took over (for one game —-the National Championship game) and, with all the problems at quarterback, put Alabama in the lead late in the 4th quarter. Alabama’s defense couldn’t hold the lead.

  2. Any inside info on the return of The T-birds to the Olympic Auditorium?

  3. Sarkisian put himself in such a pressure cooker situation, because the Falcons are coming off of a Super bowl, so anything less then the playoffs, he’ll probably get fired

    • Yea, but they certainly have the parts offensively. Way better than going to one of these teams with a quarterback of the week club.

  4. Sabin is not fool….he’s not Rex Ryan – getting in fights in some gin mill – he understands things don’t always work out and the best reply is ‘no reply’ i.e. all is well.

  5. Wolfsky – please check your grammar. Are you really a journalist or a stand in?
