Who Else Will USC Offer?

Since USC seems to be in panic stations following the decommitment of Matt Corral, it’s worth noting eight of the top 10 pro-style quarterbacks per Rivals.com are all committed to other schools. Now recruits can change their mind at any moment, like Corral, and USC already offered Jack Tuttle (Utah), who said he is still committed to Utah.

But what about QB Tanner McKee of Corona Centennial (above)? He performed well at the Elite 11 camp a couple weeks ago. People I spoke to said he performed better than Corral. And USC has not even offered him. So keep an eye on McKee.

Let it be said I don’t think it is earth-shattering if USC does not sign a QB in this class. Jack Sears can start in 2018 with Matt Fink the backup and USC could always get a junior-college QB as insurance. Did anyone think Corral was going to sit back and watch Sears start anyways?

Duh. We all tried to tell you this yesterday SW. SC doesn’t need Corral in the least.

When other news sources broke the story that USC actually walked away, we got the real news and not the fake alarm bell point of view expressed by SW that USC was scrambling. Nothing could be further from the truth.

  • Pete

Tuttle has no wheels. McKee has no wheels. Nice backups, but that’s it. As far as sources saying McKee performing better then Corral. I don’t think your sources know what they are talking about. Justin Fields is still uncommitted. Just have to wait.

  • Ed Garrett

dont be suprised if usc plays without a qb, i dont think theyre history and qbs are that good so theyres not like anything anyone could try to measure up to, and john rosen is best qb in long line of great qbs at ucla, probaly alot of these qb kids will go to ucla,

    • Jack B

      Another incoherent Bobble-Head Ed post.

Bend over little gutty. November is coming. Hah, hah, hah.

    • Pudly76

I hear SC is going to go after john rosen!

      • Jack B

John’s been a fantastic little gutty, hasn’t he? Wonder if he’ll lead ucla to six, or maybe seven wins. Hope A&M crushes the little gutties at the last second again. The bruins are so fun to watch in those frequent situations, especially at the Rose Bowl.

        • Michael Guarino

Whereas everyone else who calls themselves a Trojan wants to see A & M absolutely destroy UCLA, you’re pulling for a last second UCLA loss— cuz you know it’ll hurt more. And create way more self doubt. And have way more negative carry over on the coaches. Sweet.

          • Jack B

Indeed. Watching the bruins hang their heads in yet another disappointing home loss (STAN and UTAH defeats were perfect) is almost better than whupping them 50-0. Not really much thrill in that. Just gloat material.

          • Michael Guarino

Director John Ford would have liked you, Jack.

          • Jack B

Ah, The Searchers, The Quiet Man (good maudlin fun) and Stagecoach are all favorites of mine, especially The Searchers. I think Ford and John Wayne suffered through some terrible hangovers together. Must have been quite a scene. I would have liked to see John Huston at his drinking best as well. Huston’s Treasure of Sierra Madre is an awesome work.

          • Michael Guarino

Two stories —-one about Ford, one about Huston.
Henry Fonda kept complaining about Ford’s direction on Mister Roberts —until a drunken Ford cold c*cked him.
When Huston was dying —literally DYING —he made the ambulance crew put his stretcher down in his hallway so he could admire his favorite painting one, last time.
These were real MEN —and the movies they made will last forever.

          • Jack B

I may be mistaken, but weren’t Ford and Fonda jolly good friends before the Mr. Roberts incident? Ford left the film, which he described as a miserable experience. It’s really not much of a story, palm tree and all, but it still turned out to be a pretty good movie. “And so, what’s this about no movie tonight!,” says Jack Lemon, or something like that.

Huston was a piece of work. I would like to have seen him and Hemingway jawing away in some boozy European bistro. Some of these geniuses were amazing. We don’t make geniuses the same way any more. At least it doesn’t seem that way. Though Steve Jobs’s friends might disagree,

          • Michael Guarino

Yeah, Fonda and Ford, although totally different types of people, got along great until that punch in the mouth.
Another genius (although that description pretty much ruined his career) was Orson Welles. The story is that his daughter, Rebecca, felt ignored and unloved cuz he was always off on location shooting pictures to stay above water financially. On her 12th birthday he presented her with a lavish, illustrated diary of all the places he’d been —with an inscription that read, “I kept thinking of you and wishing you could be seeing all these things too —here is what it was like.”

Man what a game closer that 80 yd. practice field is for bel-air tech recruiters.

We hear the 1st time bel-air tech players see their home stadium is the first time they play there i.e. smart move back in 1966 voting down that build on campus (snicker)

You aren’t really serious are you?

      • JustOwns

What former great bozo u QB has started a Super Bowl?

Once again that # is = to the # of TD’s bozo u scored against Alabama in 2016

        • Michael Guarino

Hmmm —is it a round number?

If your team plays in the Rose Bowl stadium(but never the Rose Bowl game), you just might be a bruin!

          • JustOwns

Remind me Fill, why does bozo u schedule a basketball game at Staples Ctr. when the World Famous, Galen Basketball pit is available on campus?

Is that a new bozo u business model, build an expensive, on campus, BB pit, but don’t exploit it?

Do you know anything about Justin Fields in GA? Has USC ever shown interest, or vice versa? He looks very good.

I gather that the UCLA commit from NV has visited USC. It would surprise few if he were to flip–other than Ed G., of course.

Have you seen the youtube eval. of Darnold by “Voch Lombardi”? Several times, he referred to Sam as a “gangsta”, which cracked me up. OTOH, Voch’s critique of Sam’s game-winning Rose Bowl throw was very on point.

Juju was right: Sam could get WAY better. Hopefully he will. Not good news for Pac-12 opponents…or staying at USC after 2017.

        • Pudly76

          Fields was offered this weekend.

        • Sas

We are behind a lot of teams with him. It would take some work to get in the race but he’s a great player.
Sam should be ready to lead from game1.

Why can’t all UCLA fans be more like you, Ed?

Thanks for the post sw. I spoke with coach Helton and he thanks you for this post. He just let go of the panic button. He’s now onboard following your blog.

  • Alvarado

‘If Darnhols has the kind of year most of us are hoping for and expecting it won’t matter whose incoming or bailing out – – – the pressure is on Helton to maintain his record as a individual who can do what four other USC head coaches have done before him – win a national championship.

11 weeks from yesterday it all begins.

  • The USC Heisman 7

How can USC be in panic mode when they dropped Corral ?..

  • FightOn!

Everyone (except the blogger of course) knows McKee is going on his 2 year mission after HS… so no one is dying to grab this guy.

    • Michael Guarino

No worries —Playing for Helton (“God, Family, Football”) is the equivalent of a 2 year mission.

What makes you think Fink is going sit back and give the starting job to Sears. Again Wolf, just like Darnold, you are missing something.
