Keyshawn Johnson Jr. Takes Leave Of Absence From Nebraska

Wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr. will leave Nebraska until at least January, according to his father, former USC great Keyshawn Johnson, in an interview with the Omaha World-Herald. Earlier this month, Johnson Jr. was cited on suspicion of marijuana possession.

“I never asked him,” Johnson Sr. said of seeking his son’s opinion on the leave of absence. “At the end of the day, I don’t think that decision was in his hands. He squandered that decision. He still wants to play football, and he still wants to play for Nebraska. But if you don’t do the things you’re supposed to do, under the guidelines of me, it’s not going to happen.”

I’m sure someone is going to speculate that Johnson Jr. will transfer to USC. But USC never really showed much interest in him.

  1. I think Keyshawn Sr. and Marcellus Wiley are suppose to have a race. Anyone know about it?

  2. It is nice to have Keyshawn and Rodney on the local radio. Both offer great insight and give less time for sour puss writers to appear.

  3. The most important thing you can take from this is, Keyshawn Sr. is not taking any crap from the kid. The father suspended him. I don’t know what Nebraska would have done, but Keyshawn did the right thing by forcing his kid to owe up to a stupid mistake. It is severe, but the kid will know that what he had cannot be taken for granted.

    • If Keyshawn ever stood for anything, it was his constant focus as both a performer and self-promoter. He usually backed-up his talk and had a SI College Football Pre-Season kick-off cover to show for it. His shot across the bow to his kid will hopefully stave off a huge wasted opportunity.

  4. Well this is interesting but hardly USC news. I don’t think Jr. will transfer. I hope he learns from his mistake and moves on.

  5. Dear USC,

Stay away from KJ, Jr. He is all about trouble, in and out of the classroom.
