The Say What Trade Of The Day

I cannot resist posting this deal:

This means the Lakers will draft Lonzo Ball. It also means Russell turned out to be a bad draft pick.

  1. Good move. Lakers were done with both players and they cleared a bunch of salary cap space. Nice first step.

      • Lakers will need a lot of Magic if West somehow lures Lebron James to the Clippers. West will really help the Clippers who will also be much better off with their own Inglewood facility.

If Paul George ends up at Cleveland or Boston, Lakers are up the creek w/o a paddle. Both Cleveland and Boston should go all-out for George. Either could win it all with him, while the Lakers would still be too far away.

  2. These were some of Ketchup’s last moves. Both were head scratchers if you ask me. Lopez>Mozdov, Russell plays like a late 1st rounder and wasn’t athletic enough. Good trade for both unless Russel becomes a star.
Has Magic written all over it- Magic shared the ball w Nixon early on in his career but shined even more when Norm left. Ball is a true 1 while Russel was not. Clarkson and Ball might be a pretty good starting backcourt. Clarkson and Fox might be better.

    • I followed the Lakers back in the late 80’s when they were “showtime,” because I dated a very very rich gal while I was at USC. Her parents had four seats for the Forum, for any event there, and they lived in San Francisco so we went to most home Laker games. That was fun, and parking against the building.

  3. bad pick? You kidding me? He enabled us to get out from under the disastrous Mozgov contract. And Ball makes him unnecessary – we were never giving him a contract after his rookie contract expired. Love the trade.

  4. Just finished reading what the New “Yokars” think of the trade. They like it. They get rid of an aging Brook Lopez and get a possible All-Star in Russell.

  5. Just don’t bring in that loser Ball. He quits and whines about his dad. He doesn’t play defense. There are better ball players out there.
