Matt Corral Fallout, Continued

USC is now looking at quarterback Brevin White from Paraclete in Lancaster. White’s actually played at Alemany and Chaminade before his most-recent transfer. He is ranked No. 11 by Rivals among pro-style quarterbacks and has not been offered by USC yet. But USC is looking everywhere now that Matt Corral is going elsewhere.

  1. Again, props to Helton for having the courage to protect the program vis a vis Corral. No one player is bigger than the program. We didn’t need that kind of mentality infecting the family.

    • I agree. What is this “Matt Corral” fallout? Is the sky falling? Geez. SW makes it seem like this kid was a “savior” of some sort.

  2. Before anyone complains, I’d like to say I love the “New Matt Corral Fallout” feature…..and hope for many more.

    • Good article on rivals national site on both Fields and Corral and USC’s options going forward. Evidently, Fields is considering visiting SC.

      • Pudly— I just watched a ton of video of Justin Fields’ standout high school games. He’s unreal. Fast, smart and tough. It would be so cool to get him—- but, from all I’ve read, I doubt it’s in the cards.

        • Early still, though like most kids, he’s going to want to play early…

Also saw a tweet from Carman Jackson, and he said he had a great time and was definitely coming back..

          • Players like Carman and Justin make SUCH a difference to a team—I wish one or both of them had us on their top five lists!
(And, by the way, I think Justin IS definitely better than Sears —stronger arm, faster feet and a great kid to boot).

        • My thoughts on all the predictions is that we only just let Corral go, it takes time for a kid to get his mind around it, then usually won’t mention anything to anyone for another month or so while he feels it out. We’ll see. But Florida has the fastest path to playing time.

      • Ha! We’ll get to see —-when we play against Tate in the Rose Bowl…..

    • I think you’ll get at least 50 more of these type of post before the season

  3. This just in: kids who transfer high schools usually have issues…why would they go down the same road?

  4. SW doesn’t even realize that cutting Corral loose was a big positive for USC. Not that hard to figure out. USC has forever to reel another signal caller in, if they want one this year. It might be better to wait a year and create a gap so a 2019 guy sees a better window. Just depends on who else bites for the 2018 class.

  5. So White has played at three different high schools? Sounds about right.

  6. There’s as much fallout from Corral decommitting as when Ricky Towns transferred. Someone else, like Darnold, who really wants to be a Trojan and embrace everything that goes with being one, will sign. A QB’s intangibles are difficult to measure and a players usually has them or not. I think of Matt Leinart and even Darnold himself who had them in spades. These guys epitomized being superb, confident leaders with intestinal fortitude. Whether Corral has them or not, remains to be seen, but his high school narrative suggests that he is lacking in this department.

  7. SW needs to look at the Lacrosse team.. Lol.. They have an elite qb hiding in the program who will walk on 2017.

  8. Is everyone on edge about the QB recruiting like SW claims the USC coaching staff is?

  9. Would somebody remind me when was the last time the USC starting QB didn’t get drafted into the NFL?
