USC Is Everywhere

The USC band performed at the opening of the Wilshire Grand Center in downtown L.A., the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. The Wilshire Grand Center is the brainchild of Yang-ho Cho, the 68-year-old Chairman and CEO of Korean Airlines, who earned his MBA from USC in 1979.

    • “Air Darnold.” Hope that catches on. Could be the story of a championship season.

      • We’re gonna be good behind Air Darnold IMHO. This is our year fueled by our best QB EVER. What a plus. What a weapon. We’ve got to strike now and I think the Trojans will!

        • Actually, Jack, he’s more than a quarterback –he’s a champion. Champion’s find a way. And that’s the big difference between Sam and, say, Josh Rosen.

          • Absolutely. He’s got IT. He’s different. He sees things most others can’t, sees them sooner and processes it quicker. Can he keep it up, or is he a one shot wonder?
Doubters be gone. He’s the real deal.

          • Yeah, I’m not worried about a drop off either. He broke away from trouble too many times last year to think he’s a flash in the pan quarterback. Plus, he’s tough. He took a couple of major hits in the Utah game and—when most fans were probably thinking just hand it off this down, Sam, and catch your breath — he threw for first downs on the next play.

          • And he recovered well despite being off his game against the Buffs, like Jordan Speith today.

  1. Man why do they always have to play that WEHO boy/toy slave march? “Oh yes strut stut slide slide slide! I hate that ‘song’

    • Alvarado, I gotta dis agree with u on your comment. I know u are hard core USC and that is awesome, but that song for me is a war cry saying the Trojans are coming to clean the opposing team’s clock and to strike fear into them. Thank u

        • You’re a great guy, Alv —- you get to hate that song if you want to……

          • Back at ya’ Mike

Hey the LAA vs LAD begins tomorrow and Tuesday at the ravine and then down to ‘Ana’s Home’ Wednesday and Thursday.

          • Do any of you remember in the sixties, when the Angels first moved to the Big A, they had the junior Angels fan club. You got tickets, hotdog and a drink for twelve games for a dollar each. Stuck us way out in the right field corner of the upper deck.
            Now that was livin…

          • Remember? I’m betting most of us would give anything to go back to those days….

          • Jim Fregosi and Rick Reichardt on the Angles and Wes Parker and Jim Lefebvre on the Dodgers!

          • Nice. Some of the grand players on baseball cards I wish I’d kept……

          • Yeah they moved there in ’66 in fact the 22 had just opened that same year connecting the 405 to the 5.

      • Tribute to Troy? It’s classic I swear they used to play it on Wonderama when I was a kid.
There aren’t any words it is just an fanfare. They do play it to death during games but mostly to annoy the other teams.

  2. “Why would one risk constructing multimillion-dollar investments on ground that is known to be of very high hazard, and place in jeopardy the lives of those who inhabit the building?” said John Parrish, the state geologist.- LA Times December 30th 2013.

    • Future generations will look at results and comment, “Building west coast’s tallest building on a fault line —- maybe it wasn’t such a good idea….”

      • Same height as US Bank Tower, only spire is higher. So the two tallest buildings are just blocks apart on that fault line.

        • How could so many high rises get the green light along the risky Wilshire Corridor? I’m only guessing but I’ll bet the developers made plenty off donations to local politicians, got plenty of public money in return, and the poor folks who work in the immediate area will one day be left holding the bag.
