Sam Darnold On His Future

Sam Darnold did a good job on the Doug Gottlieb radio show today by slowing everyone down on his future, especially the homers who wanted to say he is coming back for two more years.

“If I have a bad year this year, knock on wood. . . or if I have a great year, we’re just gonna see what happens from there,” Darnold said. “I need to be able to talk to my family, talk to all of my coaches. It’s deftinitely going to be a process. But right now we’re just focused on fall camp.”

  1. Joel Klatt made a very compleeing argument why the better qb’s have more time in the college ranks. They’ve attempted and completed more passes and have also seen more different schemes based on their college days. Also the real money is what Kerr just got from the Raiders i.e. the award after the initial money paid for as a draft pick what with the new CBA salary tiers in place.

Be nice if he stayed for a 3rd year – sure beats going to that ‘troika’ of NFL grave sites – NYJ, CLE and BUF

    • They could trade his pick away for half a starting unit and still get rosen…

        • All or any of them. Those teams are so bad, they could become decent retooling and still end up with a QB. Especially for a guy like Sam.

          • Well remember poor Mark Sanchez – he did leave Troy too early and then was forced fed into Rex Ryan’s offense – took the NYJ to back-to-back AFC CG – the only one to do that save for Namath and then down hill to today.

Jet fans are the worst in all of the NFL even more than Eagle or Brown fans

    • Al, What’s a compleeing argument?
Is that like a compelling argument after 7 beers?

  2. maybe he should be come a pilot and fly a plain for untied air instead of playing football in theyre stadium and loosing to john rosen, smdh!

    • Maybe you should get your chaps on and stand guard at woodie’s grave site…if you’re late Al Pasquale is set to take your place….go jonnie!

        • No, That is Johhny Cheetin’ wooden, scumbag of ugly. I can see Jack Nickelson playing Wooden and him saying, “Here’s Johnny”.. Wooden was a liar and a cheat

          • Cheetin’ & Lyin’ is Pete the Cheat’s domain. No one can touch Petesy in that respect. Coach Wooden was the best coach in his sport at any level and a man who is revered by everyone except those he beat like a rug year after year.

  3. Scooter, he has more sense and wisdom than you. have him as your example on how to pace yourself.

  4. There is an adult in the room. In this case the most mature person, the adult, happens to be only 20 years old. Listen up kids!

  5. If Darnold is projected to go in the top 5 players drafted he should go. Just makes sense. Barkley cost himself millions by staying.

        • Marv, you forgot to add: “after getting planted like a tulip by Anthony Barr”

          • A-Barr never forgot Barks pointing at the scoreboard the year before……payback is a beeyatch!!!

        • NFL fun fact: the higher a qb’s pay is directly proportional to how long he stayed in school. QB’s who stayed four years earn more on average than those having left early…

        • Leading the #1 Preseason team to 7 – 6 disaster season is bozo u FB glory?

          • How is Rosen with that 4-8 record of his? Wasn’t he supposed to win the Heisman and the championship last year. LMAO. All Rosen won was a half a year of football off so he could save himself for the nfl. LMAO.

    • I don’t think Barkley was ever the same after he got planted like a tulip in the Rose Bowl turf. In fact, I’m sure he was never the same.

  6. Sam is Sam and nobody knows what will happen. He is having the time of his life right now, let him enjoy it. The media has no influence on what he will do, he can think for himself, and will rely on those he trusts the most for advice.

  7. Sounds like he has his head on his shoulders. His future looks bright but nothing is guaranteed. Focus on the job at hand and the rewards will be there. I like this kid, in spite of the school he chose.
