USC Morning Buzz: Deontay Burnett Does Not Make Biletnikoff Award Watch List

USC WR Deontay Burnett was a star of the Rose Bowl but it wasn’t enough to make the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the nation’s top receiver. Of course, neither did Marqise Lee the year he won the award.

Maybe the Biletnikoff people think it takes more than one game to make the watch list? On the other hand, USC center Nico Falah made the watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy, which is a community service award.

  1. Did any Trojans make the watch list for the Bradford Banta long snapper award?

  2. You’re wrong. Marqise was initially omitted on accident in 2012. He was added to the watch list less than 24 hours after it was first announced. He then went on to win the award.

  3. Deontay said he wanted to come into this season totally pumped up and on fire.
The Biletnikoff Selection Team is just trying to do their part in getting him in the right frame of mind.

    • Not a big deal for us. As long as he plays the way he finished he’ll help out the team.

      • Totally on point, Sam. (And that’s exactly what Deontay is going to do).

          • On paper Washington looks formidable. Especially at receiver. But everything goes down the toilet for them if Jake Browning tanks in the final half of the season (as he did last year).

        • Remember we talked about this about a year ago how we wanted Bagley? Are we looking good or what?

          • It helps moving forward with future recruits.. Hopefully adding Bags transates to many win and a NCs in bball ..

          • He’s a one and done but it speaks volumes for the program to land a player of his talents.

  4. im not suprised, wide receiver as they call them hasnt been an position of strength for usc ever, ucla has better wrs in the past,

    • Here’s Bobble Head Ed playing like he’s unconscious again. He thinks ucla, the frozen wasteland of college football, is actually a challenge. ucla is just another practice tune-up game for USC in Nov as the Trojans get ready to play UW for the conference championship. Poor bruins, on the sidelines as always.

  5. Who cares? You rag about how many of these meaningless pre-season lists are published then bitch when a USC player is not included. Let’s try to be a little more consistent.
