USC Forms Another Task Force

USC president Max Nikias announced there will be a task force “to address some of the questions that surfaced in the wake of (the firing of medical school dean Carmen Puliafito.”

“It is clear to us now that the university currently has only loosely defined procedures and guidelines for dealing with employee behavior outside the workplace that may be improper or illegal and has the capacity to affect USC.”

  1. I get and understand Puliafito was a money raising machine and as such it is the reason his antics weren’t looked into very deeply by USC officials. USC is not financed by tax payers impoundments/levies. .

It would seem Nikias is going nowhere based on his skills in finding fund raisers as well as his own skill set there.

Problem is this is now a scandal that is known all over the world and potential applicants and employees.

  2. in other words, Nikias was asleep on the job and he’s going to skate free of this debacle.

It’s only relevant to USC football because Nikias hired Helton, not Haden. Nikias was’t even aiming for great here. He just wanted to solid guy with no booze, women or alcohol problems. Seriously.

      • When the LAT starts blatantly nosing around and asking questions, that’s a threat, as anyone who has ever dealt with the media understands.

        • If you stonewall a major newspaper regarding these sorts of issues/allegations, you will get your head handed to you, that’s for sure. What could Nikias have been thinking?

          • I don’t think Nikias knew what to say to the press, whether it was because he was confused, dissembling or still plotting his course. The drug addict/player Dean remained connected to USC all this time, long after he resigned. What?! Nikias was over his skis because he allowed this derelict to stay at Keck and ignored all the bad stuff he was doing.

Nothing looks good here for Nikias. He put his head deep in the sand and now we all know it.

This has nothing to do with guidelines and procedures IMHO, though the GDC lawyer will pin it there. This is all about Nikias messing up, covering up and hiding stuff.

Now it’s all about making sure Nikias keeps his job and Keck gets another big-hitter fundraiser without severe personal problems to lead it out of the woods. Once USC hired this drug addict/weirdo/doctor/fundraiser supreme, the die was cast: problems ahead. Problem was USC didn’t have a fixer (see movie Michael Clayton starring George Clooney).

          • And who played Max in this movie? Tom Wilkinson? Sydney Pollack? I vote for Tilda Swinton.

          • Poor Tom. He went down bad. And Tilda, she got hammered by that Clooney stare big-time. Pollack was great in his role, which was a part he often seemed to play. I thought Clooney was awesome in that.

Did you see Changing Lanes with Ben Affleck? Another great Pollack role as the entrenched, corrupt lawyer. He always reminded my of an older Huey Lewis. Dude was around a long time and produced or exec produced a lot of noteworthy stuff like Cold Mountain and The Talented Mr. Ripley.

          • Pollock did commentaries for a bunch of classic films now on Blu Ray. He was a brilliant man. And, yeah, he always did play more or less the same guy in every film in which he appeared (Tootsie, Husbands and Wives, The Player, etc) ——and that guy probably was him. The thing that never ceases to surprise me, however, is how much I enjoy George Clooney movies in spite of his kindergarten politics. He might be the first major acting talent in history to work [successfully] at alienating the majority of theater goers.

          • Clooney and Meryl Streep. Countless other entertainers too. Robert DeNiro. It’s a problem. Thank God they couldn’t help Hillary. Still makes me laugh!

I loved The Player. Great flick. Hollywood. Now that’s a rough sport.

          • The Player—best Tim Robbins performance ever—although he was pretty wonderful in something called Miss Firecracker. [I forgot about Streep. And DeNiro. It appears they, too, answer “here!” each and every morning in Clooney’s kindergarten class].

      • Would you object if the LA Times did an investigation of Ford or GM? Muckraking is the traditional role of the media.

    • His name was noticeably absent from the Pac-12 media website listing the times and attendees yesterday.

        • Rosen’s not the team leader yet. That’s what he’s trying to become.

The guys who repped ucla, Scott Quessenberry (OL) and Kenny Young (LB) were far better choices. They spent most their time addressing Rosen questions, so it worked out much better than Rosen being forced to address himself all day.

          • Yep. There’s a good interview of Petros and Sam Darnold if you scroll the Pac 12 post on Sco** W*lf’s site today. You can listen.

        • The Times has an article on line specific to that matter – Rosen’s past nonsense has him muzzled by Mora.

          • Know any other high profile college football player that wore a ‘blank’ Trump hat? I don’t…man that’s what a 8th grader does

        • Rosen qualified for and attends a major University.

Do you need a Univ education to throw boxes Sammy?

    • The words: Tuipulotu, Tufele, Green, Gustin keep appearing in his head. Delusional?

  3. Great news about things unrelated to USC athletics… maybe we can find out about the rule violations of the cleaning staff too…?

  4. another day-late, dollar-short “task force”.

why not also convene an OJ task force and a Reggie Bush task force???

    #AddToddMcNair

      • zzzzzzzzzz…anything less than a natty will be a total disaster based on all this HYPE!!

and the Classy Cadre will BE there to….

        #ScatterThePieces

        • Nah!
Keep trying to spin that pitiful bruin season!
          Keep trying bruh!
          Naaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
          #mind ya bizzznezzzz!

          • The bruins are projected for another Turtle Soupy Sales Memorial Bowl.

What are they gonna say? They’re buried in L.A. under big bad USC with the combo insane football program and the insane Keck fundraiser dude. SC has sucked all the oxygen out of all of southern California!

What a great time to be a Trojan. Now let’s slap Nikias on the wrist (the most we can expect) and open University Village (Harry Potterville) to the newest throng of USC entrants!

          • KFC Bowl probably.
All they have is OJ, the drug taking Doctor and “UCLA Football”.

Are they still a basketball school?

          • Every bruin should be buried with a #32 jersey in their casket. OJ is all they think about, day and night. He’s their hole card, regardless of what USC does, good or bad, big or small.

In the minds of all little gutties, USC only represents one thing, and one thing only – we are the school that spawned OJ!

Go OJ Go! Give ’em an eight clap!

          • I have a feeling they wouldn’t mind playing a round of golf with him. Two faced bruins!

          • i’ve had many ring names. depends on the region. but in SO CA, i’ve mostly been Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake.

    • Brute, did you enjoy when Rowdy Roddy Piper snobber knocked you out of exisistence?

  5. Procedures do not replace the need for judgment, which was sadly lacking in this scandal. Each statement from Nikias just makes it worse, because he can’t give us a good, honest answer. He failed the judgment test. The university would be better served if he admitted responsibility and resigned.

    • Are you kidding, Slapsy Maxie can squeeze $$$$$$$ for bozo u from rotten apples.

    • It’s pretty obvious that Max, lacking any real center, is making this up as he goes. The LAST thing we’re going to get is an admission of responsibility, followed by a resignation. If a change at the top is required, it’s going to have to be imposed.

  6. Typical bozo slug, FB defines the limits of intelligence.

Hey little Petey, how about some hilarious, two fer, dead bozo entertainment. You asked for it

Mike Bastianelli driving, and Darrell Russell ridin’ gun race at high-speed with another vehicle on the streets LA; Mickey B loses control, the car skids 50 feet, hits a curb, hits a tree, hits and shears off a fire hydrant, whacks a light pole, hits another tree, and comes to rest after smacking a unoccupied transit bus. Both occupants, with the help of the jaws of life lifted from their wreak and transported to UCLA Med. (B) and Cedars Sinai (R) only to expire.

Some kind of slapstick hey Petey. Just your average, well-rounded, former bozo u FB players entertaining the L A community.

    • I only care about the score. In the this country football players are defined by their accomplishments. Thats why awards are named after great football players. Great football players win awards. Losers go to the wayside never to be remembered. That’s why there are no football awards named after UCLA football players. None have been good enough. And never will.

      • Really, last night you wanted entertainment. And now you’re just interested in the FB score.

Former Bruin QB’s are 4 – 1 in Super Bowls

Former bozo u QB’s oooooooo forever in Super Bowls.

Carson “the Bomber” Palmer got close Bowl, but his 2 unforced fumbles and 4 int’s, single handedly cost the Az Cardinals the NFL Championship in a landslide loss.

        • Could care less about the NFL. USC will continue to dominate UCLA in football. The Bruins had their chance to close the gap when USC went on sanctions. And now the gap has widen again. After Mora gets fired this year, I wonder who will be the next fired UCLA coach? Ha-Ha. Some things never change. Winning isn’t everything. It’s the only thing!

  7. Not quite as funny as:

    Alabama 52 – bozo u 6 and ZERO TD’s.

bozo u’s standard version of choka, choka, choka on real competition.

      • USC being just ALL-OVER-THE-PLACE is just killing the little gutties.

Our football team is so white hot with pre-season pump that even the Keck Med scandal, which is pretty damn big, can’t keep up. And tomorrow, USC and Darnold take center stage for the P12. Sweet.

      • Yeah, but UCLA scored two TD’s. Factually Sammy, UCLA score TD’s in every game of its 4 – 8, 2016 season.

Sammy can bozo u say the same thing? Did they score a TD in every 2016 scheduled FB game?

bozo u can if Sammy throws out the ugly, 52 – 6, humiliating loss to Alabama on National TV.

        Shock the world Sammy………LOL

          • bozo u is the Univ. that hang we beat the Bruins banners from the rafters of that tomato can, basketball pit, Galen Barn.

            A102 – 70 win seems quite relevant.

        • Squatter, can ugly say they went to a rose bowl game last year or the year before or the year before? I can do that all the way back to last century.

  8. You gotta get the Lindy’s College Football Preview Sas. I thought of you when I got to pg 8. It’s your dream for the USC hoops program come true! Spend the 9 bucks. it’s worth it.
