    • You read the letter to the editor in today’s Times about the funeral feel to Mora’s interaction with reporters this past Thursday? The guy knows this is going to be a really tough year way before he faces USC on 18th November.

      • The ruin donuts from media days had butterfingers on them.. think they were throwing shade on the receivers?

        • Remember how the ruin WRs dropped key passes in the Texas A&M game last year?

          • … and that, gt, might be A&M’s best hope —-their secondary isn’t anything to write home about this season…..

          • Sure do, they dropped passes all season. Unbelievable, really, I wonder if they can fix it…
But TAM has a new QB and their defense barely hung on last year at home. What I’m really hoping for is mora melting downon hi DC mid game like he did a couple years ago.

          • For my money, Pudly, you really can’t beat the sight of a Head Coach looking over at his DC and shaking his head after every pass completed against him. It does wonders for everybody’s morale and it makes everybody, both on the team and in the stands, really look up to the Head Coach. A total win/win. Hope to see it a lot from Coach Flora this season. Great way for him to go out.

          • Nothing better than a Head Coach who has no concept of self censorship….. (and, for all his skills, Coach Flora has had a problem in this area going all the way back to his days with the 49ers —-screaming at opposing coaches after the game, looking and sounding not unlike one of those cartoon cats who flip out after being teased by impish mice)….

          • Okay, I’m going overboard. [Blame it on Coach Flora screaming the superfluous “L.A. is OUR Town” after beating a team with 60 to 65 players on scholarship]……

          • Wasn’t that when ruin hopes were sky high Hundley’s last year as QB in 2014 and then Oregon destroyed them in the Rose Bowl on national television?

          • I’ve undertaken an in depth research project, gt —–and it appears that the “short resurgence” you reference coincides with USC’s near death- penalty NCAA sanctions.
I wonder if there is a connection?

          • True, but UCLA scored TD’s vs Oregon.

If only bozo u could say they scored TD’s vs Alabama. Oh yeah, 22, the bozo’s did kick a weeny 45 yd FG down 38 points – LOL.

I can’t forget the “Boston Massacre.”

          • As oppose to JuJu dropping 2 end zone passes vs Alabama.

Of course, JuJu’s drops were Browne’s fault.

      • It might have been smarter for Mora to not scream “L.A. is OUR Town!” while USC was under sanctions. The rumor is that his players are calling him Coach Flora (after the bossy but ditsy Fairy in Disney lore). All that needs to happen for this collapse to take on epic proportions (as in winless season) is for the Bruins to blow the Texas A&M game in a big way on September 3rd. Here’s hoping…..

        • Well said and yeah since:

          1. they were originally scheduled to play on Saturday 2nd Sept. against TX A&M ‘but’ that meant having to either play the same time as USC or
          2. play that Saturday evening with no one in the seats, bel-air tech chose to showcase their opener on
          3. Sunday 3rd September because
          4. the NFL starts the following Sunday 10th Sept.

bel-air tech gets the whole day to themselves

As you stated Mike – if Mora et. al. go sideways well good luck with anyone showing up to watch HI on the 9th or CO on the 23rd both at the Rose Bowl.

          • ….And, add to that, Alv, there’s actually a chance Hawaii will BEAT the Bruins in front of their dozens of loyal spectators…..
            #..CausingBruinAD’sCancellationOfSeason

          • Man would that be end of Rosen’s dreams of glory or what? As for Mora well I’d say 570 KLAC will be a bit quieter on Saturdays the next 4 mos..

Matt ‘Money’ Smith is a co-announcer for the Chargers on KFWB 980 AM and that leaves ‘Petros’ with a lot of idle time on weekends (Fridays in particular) per Charger road games. Be sweet listening to him rag on Tim Kates on how pathetic ‘woodie’s boys’ are playing.

          • For Coach Flora, this season has “nightmare scenario” written all over it. And who better to have fun with a nightmare than Petros??

          • Especially with that bruin suck up Kates and, as always, which alum is working for which alum?

          • Be still my heart —-this is too delicious. (And I’d be inclined to be more merciful if it weren’t for the fact that Coach Flora rubbed it in our faces when we were down)……

          • It’ll be interesting to see how four former head coaches at USC do this year compared to 1 current bruin –

NFL – Pete Carroll SEA, Sarkisian OC ATL
NCAA – FL Atl./ Kiffin, LSU / Orgeron

          • Everybody is gonna do fine, Alv. If Tom Cable can whip the O-Line into shape, Pete can make a serious run in the playoffs, Sark will do the same at Atlanta, Orgeron will have LSU in the running for the NC (and may even take out Alabama on the way —although I hope he doesn’t —I’d like to see us get revenge in the NC game), and don’t be surprised if Kiffin doesn’t take a VERY veteran Florida Atlantic team to a bowl this season.

          • Yeah I sense the same Mike and I hope Coach ‘O’ proves Haden wrong down yonder in the bayou. Kiffin may be on to something having little to lose and a big market (Miami-metro) as his foundation.

Why aren’t ex-bruin coaches ever hired? Because they’re losers!

          • If he hasn’t already, Alv, our Coach “O” will change that “he’s only a position coach” label once and for good this season. Everybody agrees they would have taken Alabama out last year with better quarterback play….and everybody agrees they’ll HAVE better quarterback play this year under their new OC, Matt Canada!

          • Very cute. May you be given that opportunity this season (repeatedly)……

          • It seems you and MG are more concerned with the bruins than the Trojans. I thought this was inside sc.

          • Nah just the calm before the storm that is abou to to hit ‘woodyland’ beginning 5 weeks from tomorrow

          • Oh so true. and not matter how much Avocado whines, it’s still UCLA 11 and bozo u OOOOOOOOOOOOO forever.

          • f uucla is a mid major in football. I am surprised they don’t drop fotball like their sister school UCSB did.

        • You think he would have learned from Rick Neuheisel’s bragging that came back to bite him.

          • At least Neuheisel was trying to rally the Bruins against far superior USC teams —-Coach Flora was kicking the Trojans when they were down.

  1. Word is that Bagley likes USC and things are getting hot. It doesn’t suck being in the heart of LA with your finger tips next to ESPN and Fox Sports. Get ready cause these teams are gonna roll.

    • Remind us ricki, where you got your phony information.

Did Andyain’twinning toss a cupcake in your change hat?

  2. What a great idea. Hope they gave young Bagley two, though SW would probably pump it up as a recruiting violation.

Go Cupcakes! – the new bruin cheer.

  3. Pudly and Mike – this game (ucla vs TX A&M) is equally critical for Sumlin – this is his 6th year at A&M and ‘if’ Herman gets TX up and moving well Sumlin is now going to sink to an even tougher place –

    • Very much so. A&M lost their qbs last season too, as the season went in the tank for them too. These two programs are in real trouble, ucla doesn’t even own the west side and now if Herman has Texas moving in the right direction, A&M could find itself in real trouble too

      • This is the ‘loser’s’ bracket’ whoever loses will be the female dawggie for the rest of their conference….and the winner will be the same a week or two later

          • It’s where the LAA find themselves in 2017 with that bloated egomaniac Albert Pujols getting a kool $24 mil a year thanks to Arte Moreno thinking he knew as much about baseball as he does billboards.

Pujols is in a current 0 – 25 skid – reminds me of LAPD Vincent Hanna in ‘Heat’

“Albert….don’t waste my mother —-ing time!”

          • Lt. Hanna might be just the answer here, Alv…… at least he holds your hand after he takes you out…… (and gives away free television sets as I recall)……

          • Yeah Mike Scoscia is a decent guy and patient – Pujols is the direct opposite – a loud power addicted has been that I know both Scoscia and Eppler are tired of. Be so glad if they just gave him his release and got his large fat back end gone from the organization just as he got Hatcher sacked way back in 2011.

          • I remember when Pujols was a free agent. He would have won another WS if he stayed in St. Louis.

          • Why won’t Arte spring for some front line pitching instead of letting teams like the Red Sox grab talent like Sale?

          • They gave up prospects for Zack Greinke and he split on them. CJ Wilson wasn’t the Ace in Texas and he sure wasn’t one in Anaheim. They tried but…..

          • Wilson sucked – friggin ‘Hamlet’ from start to start and his goofy obsession with tricked out high end cars. Grienke is a head case – he was with the: NYY, LAA, LAD and AZ – he hated Puig.

Vernon Wells (all Scoscia) on and on.

            the future is Trout

          • I have to agree with you on that. Greinke was a little odd. On the mound hes mean and tough on hitters. And i know Puig was annoying the team for a while but Greinke came off like a jealous female who wanted to have his enemy voted off the Island or Show. I imagine Puig played too much and ZG was not in the mood.

          • Allegedly there was a moment , on the road, when the team was all on board the team bus to head for the airport I think and Puig wouldn’t get on. He kept talking on his cell phone – Grienke went nuts and got out and confronted Puig with a ‘fish or cut bait’ order.

          • Yep.
Puig being the young star who doesnt know any better challenged Greinke’s veteran leadership and that was enough for ZG.

          • 2017 is a goner – Pujols is the anchor that keeps dragging the entire team down because everyone has to kow tow to this clown. Moreno got burned bad due to his stupidity in demanding fomrer gm Jerry DePoto get: Wilson, Hamilton and the worst Pujols. The new gm Andy Eppler – formerly the assistant to NYY gm Cashman, has finally made Moreno realize you can’t buy a championship – Jeter, Rivera, Pasada, Williams – all were out of their farm system. Moreno needs to tie down Trout and buy Pujols out.

          • The Yankees had HOF players come out of their farm system but they went out and bought a World Series when they added Tino Martinez, Wade Boggs, Ruben Sierra, Mariano Duncan, Cecil Fielder, John Wetteland, Ricky Bones. They added stars. That first WS was stacked.

          • They could do that because of the core and, just as with USC, nearly every MLB player wants to wear the pinstripes. They also did it because Selig banned ‘George’ from having any control over the front office

          • Yeah, he’s still mad about last year, when he picked the bruins to win the PAC 12.

          • He also said Washingto would win the Pac 12 and the Browning would win the Heisman over Sam Darnold. He’s never had anything good to say about USC.

          • I’d be more worried if he’d been right about the bruins.. besides our schedule is tougher than theirs. Espn doesn’t like USC, and that won’t change soon.
We had the top recruiting class in the PAC, did they show up? No. It’s always that way with them.

          • Tom Luginbill answered a Trojan fan that asked him why there wasn’t any live coverage at SC on signing day and he said USC denied them from coming. I don’t know who to believe.

          • True – they have no ‘presence’ here in LA – Fox prudently set up shop here and isn’t looking back – there’s no college football worth a darn within 100 miles of mid-town Manhattan, the Knicks only became interesting when a Laker cast-off (Phil Jackson) arrived. In fairness the Giants do well per the NFL but the rest – uh uh -which is why their annual focus is always always the NYY – if that springs a leak it’s goodby until next April – oh yeah locatng yourself up in Bristol-CT is akin of setting up shop in Jurupa Valley – Bristol-CT?

          • He gives us a fair voice, and actually so does coach. But the network as a hole ( pun intended ), gives us short shrift because of their network alliances. Whether it’s recruiting, evaluation, or just basic pr. Look at the coaches always featured anyone but PAC 12, then SC last.

          • That’s the only thing I can think of. Rodney Peete was SC’s QB around the time he was coming out of HS. I bet that Larry Smith never recruited him or offered.

          • 3-9 and Mora is kicked to the curb and its looking we Bagged him.. Coaching Andy doing work!

          • The farewell tour for Jim Mora starts with a rematch with his former OC. Texas A&M, Noel Mazzone and the younger Mazzone have another opportunity to facecup Mora and tell him you doubted my offense and now you have a big round zero in the win column to my two. The first of many long saturdays for Ucla.’
And……………Dan, have i ever doubted you? I dont believe i have. So MBIII will be leading our BBall team to the Final Four is what you are trying to tell me?
            Fu** Yeah!!!!!!!!!!
            Thats some great news!!!!!!!!!!!!
            Keep me posted Bro!!!!!!!!1

      • I actually think ucla will beat an overrated graduation ravaged a&m. Watch out for the road game at Memphis and the stretch that follows.

        • Good insights —-there is no way UCLA gets thru September unscathed even if they do prevail against A&M. (But we can still pray that they lose their opener —-they’re the kind of team that will tear apart at the seams if that happens —-and we’ll get to enjoy more Coach Flora hissy fits that way)……
