Marvin Bagley Update

Here’s what has to happen for USC to land Marvin Bagley:

  1. The NCAA determines he meets academic requirements to reclassify to the Class of 2018.
  2. He decides to choose USC over Duke, Arizona, etc.
  3. USC “convinces” a player to give up his scholarship.
  4. Andy Enfield convinces Bagley’s 7-year-old brother to also reclassify. Just kidding.

Just to be clear, USC cannot place Bagley on an academic scholarship or financial aid because it has no scholarships. For example, if it gave Bagley a full academic scholarship, it would need to take that money away from other players. What would happen is a player would suddenly decide to take a year off or transfer.

    • And you rejected every last Wolf detail just last week.

I believe you even floated Sammy speculation that Andyain’twinning had a secret scholarship available with Bags name on it. Sammy you always wind up with egg on your face.

Az., Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and UCLA heavily recruit on their NCAA NC laurels. The only things the Whistler can offer are a cupcake, at home non-conf. schedule, and a bush league Basketball scholarship offer to Bag’s 7 year old brother.

I won’t say Bags to bozo u is impossible, but it’s incredibly improbable. Maybe if bozo u petitions the NCAA to expedite Bag’s reclassification…..LOL

          • Did the little SUCLA poster say SUCLA recruits based on its national championship credentials? Since 1974 or 43 years they have won one, and that was 22 years ago, or longer than anyone who plays college basketball.

I don’t think today’s impetuous kids who do not value history think of SUCLA as a national championship caliber school.

          • Walnut, if that’s the case, why do bozo Rah-Rah’s crow so loudly when the Toejams defeat UCLA basketball.

And Walnut, why hang banners in Galen Barn commemorating the intermittent UCLA victories.

            UCLA only hangs NC’s banners.

bozo u OOOOOOOO forever. Some things will never change.

          • Squatter, then there should be none because ALL OF THEM WERE BOUGHT by GILBERT.

          • Walnut,
Tell us the story about how OJ smiled at you, only you after a game.
I love that story because it makes me understand two things: 1) He was clearly innocent and 2) you love gladiator movies.

          • He be loooong gone. But he’s up there with little Saint Nell now, so he’s happy to be with the only other saint in heaven. Two perfect little gutties, attached in saint hood, wondering why poor Sam Gilbert got stuck in hell with the bag. It’s always who you know.

          • They don’t intimidate USC anymore.

John Wooden seemed like a nice man…

But we’re a team that won’t roll over for Ucla anymore.

          • Wooden was just another ugly Creatin. He was a jerk. He would do the LaVar Ball thing and try and intimidate the refs by cursing them and then he deflected the potentional NCAA investigation onto Jerry Tarkanian. He was all show in the lights but a bum away from them.

          • I meant what I said……

            May he rest in peace……..

            Seriously……

            But…..

He’s gone and Ucla aren’t the Bruins if yesteryear……..

            So calm down.

          • That is true, Sammy. We aren’t the Bruins of yesteryear. SC still has a habit of choking down the stretch in league play and finished 5th last year. Certainly the program is on the upswing and your optimism is admirable, but you have yet to win anything of importance. Keep that in mind. UCLA has yesteryear. At this point, SC has never year. Maybe this is your year. Your team is loaded and should compete for the PAC-12 title. We will see if Andy can get it done. The stars are aligned.

          • True, but not 5th place like the Little Petey’s.

            bozo cupcake non-conf. 14 – 0

            bozo Pac 12 conf. 10 – 8

Hopa, hopa, hopa, choka, choka, choka, excuses, excuses, excuses.

  1. Love this quote from Sam Darnold (LAT) about his receivers:

“I know we have guys that have that big-gain potential, It’s just whether or not they hide from the light or if they shine brighter.”

      • Yes. Jack Roggin will be a preferred walk on this season. He was pretty good at Calabasas H. S.

        • Cool. I always thought of Fred as bruin man so I like Fred even more now. But sorry to say….we need that ride for Marvin.

          • Right. It’s tougher to earn a scholarship from the coach as a walk-on in basketball. I rarely see it. By the way. Across town Alford could have gave a scholarship to a deserving player or walk on but he gave it to his son.

        • Why Mr. Bodine isn’t that the same high school that Keyshawn Johnson’s kid attended?

          • It is. The football team has numerous celebrity kids and many transfer players. Some would say they epitomize everything that’s wrong with high school sports today. They were a classless act in football when they won a CIF title a couple years ago.
I don’t know much about the basketball program other than they have also had a pretty good run as of late.

  2. Scooter, who says USC cannot give him an academic scholarship? That does not count against the athletic scholarship count. That goes against the tuition of USC, nothing having to do with athletes.

  3. Southern Cal’s embarrassing attempts to find relevance in B-Ball is sad. this is worse than the thumb-sucking Renardo Sydney debacle….Bagley’s not coming, USC will only earn more humiliation and another pi$$ stain on Heritage Hall’s carpet.

      • Lavar is a disgrace and his public persona is sinking faster than a scared little gutty trying to hide napping in a cesspool.

    • Lavar Ball should be home taking care of sick wife who has cancer instead of trying to get on tv every day.
      Yeah I’m judging him.

      • wow unbelievably bad Karma…what tossed YOU off the rails??

        you personally know his schedule?

oh, and one more thing, she doesn’t have cancer, Judge Judy.

        #Genius

          • Oh, oh, oh, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Excuse me, I’m sorry she had a stroke.

            You sure showed me Chuckless.

Pull your G-string out of your crack and quit getting so butt hurt over him.

            He’s a punk.

    • They can get the stain off that rug but will never remove the stink as long as OJ’s trophy is in the house.

    • ‘That’ should seal the deal i.e. relying on Kershaw in post-season is like relying on a democrat voting against a tax bill.

Smart move by Friedman and Zaidi

        • Yeah that’s a well trained progressive leninist. While your demonizing successful individuals who actually are heads of corporations that employs people why not dump the: rock stars, athletes, movie stars in instead ‘maybe’ rock stars employ a road crew but I don’t know any athletes or movie stars that do aside from the house staff they employ (maids, au pairs, cooks, chauffeurs etc.).

America works and is the envy of the world because it is the cradle of capitalism – it’s the reason Venezuela is on the verge of turning into Cuba – it’s political philosophy is class hatred and esp. wealthy capitalists.

How about someone tax that pig r@9i$t billie klintonska and his squeeze ‘la passionaria’ aka Hillary you know how they’ve avoided paying taxes on all the ‘donations’ they’ve fueled their evil life styles since they got out of Little Rock.

Sorry for the screed but there is nothing wrong with wealth – it’s what one does with it.

      • Kershaw has that fighting spirit that hurt the team. He probably knows that now. We should handle business now.

        • I don’t know Sas – I still think he’s a head case – that game 3 against LAA when the sub at 2nd muffed a play as Maybin scored (LAD won the game anyways) and the way Kershaw glared and barked at him.

Maybe ‘Clayotn’ can watch a pitcher (Yu Darvish) who actually has taken his team (TX) to two world series and humbly learn from him.

          • He lost in those World Series. Same boat as Kershaw. Kershaws the best pitcher in baseball. Even Bumgardner had to have another ace with him. The Cubs needed two aces. The Nats had Strasburg and then went out and got Max Shurzer. It’s the lay of the land now. This is a totally different Dodger team behind him now. Kshaw will be fine.

          • No no no no no – I never said the Rangers and Darvish ‘won’ I did say that Darvish and the Rangers ‘GOT’ to those two world series unlike brooklyn.

BTW the ‘best’ in anything triumphs in all contests now as to Mr. Kershaw well…..

  4. Marvin Gagley
I would likely and most gladly
See you on my SC team
    How we Trojans would gleam
Seeing you lead us to high esteem
    A national title or close
    Would be poetic prose
