Morning Buzz: At Least USC Should Have No Ego Problems

USC might have some on-field weak spots, but one nice thing this season is there seems to be a lack of egos on this year’s team.

Excerpt: “USC lacks a consistent kicker, is woefully inexperienced at wide receiver and can’t promise consistency at cornerback yet.

“But it does have an intangible that won’t be gained through 30 practices before the season opener against Western Michigan. Whatever happens on the field this year, the Trojans will not implode because of massive ego problems or the hidden agendas that can sabotage teams.”

  1. Having no kicker is an example of under recruiting a position. We have a game winning kicker, but some jealous tennis player fabricated a story and got the kicker kicked.
We will have a kicker by the end of the season or a new special teams coach will be recruited. Not too worried we just go for two after each score.

    • “Under-recruited position” is absurd: See my post in “Kicking woes” on this.

The tennis player who reported Boormeester was USC men’s tennis coaches son. Are you saying he wanted Boormeester out so he could have Zoe Katz?

      • But it was the son’s roommate who was the witness. Son just told pop what his roommate told him. Not that it matters.

        • BSPN reported that it was his son. But that’s BSPN.
Either way, Old’s remark was the first i had heard “jealousy” raised.

          • I heard that thrown around earlier, but I won’t go down that road. I would ask why no one intervened or called police. I’d hate to think jealousy led to a students expulsion.

          • I assume nixed my post because I put in a link to we are sc dot com to show 13 posts about Brown, including his “big leg”

          • regarding my other point, did you see my post in “kicking woes”? There are several posts raving about Brown as a kicker, yet, here we are wondering if he can make anything over 30 yards or kick off.

          • Who is Ed Zachary?

I posted earlier this am on that same topic and talked a little about the kicking game and what it takes to retool, check it out and see if you agree.

          • The punch line of a joke:
…you have ed Zachary desease; you face looks ed zachary like your a$$.

          • You know that not only are we replacing the kicker, we’re replacing the long snapper too. And then on top of that, our holder has to move to the other side because these kickers are right footed.
So imagine trying to get good kicks off consistently with all that going on.
Brown is a decent enough kicker, but the whole unit needs to come together.

  2. Unlike SOME schools SC doesn’t have a whiney QB crying about his busy schedule, Trojans just getting down to business.

    • That is what happens when you go to a jock school like St. John Bosco. Nothing but wusses at SJB and ugly. A fine match

  3. how can usc play in any game if there is none to0 kick the ball to start the game? seams like theyre is more to this story then teh writer is telling us,

  4. If the kid can be consistent inside the 40, don’t think it will matter much. If SC is relying on a kicker to win games this season with that schedule, then something will have gone seriously wrong.

  5. Frankly, this is one of the most refreshing articles I have ever read. This philosophy is sorely missed in sports these days and for me, is very welcome.

  6. Flow: Please site credible references/instances to what you’re referring to in “massive ego problems” and “hidden agendas.” No, Chaz Beefcake is not credible.

  7. There were some problems last season, and the team took care of it. That meeting changed the entire team, and most of that team is still in the locker room. This will be one of the most cohesive units USC has had in 10 years.

  8. Scooter, change the photo. You used this photo already. There are over a million photos of USC football. Don’t be lazy.
