Who Is A Reliable Punt Returner?

John Baxter said Friday that wide receiver Velus Jones is faster than Adoree Jackson. Jones, Jack Jones and Ajene Harris are the leading candidates to return punts/kicks this season.

But here is priority No. 1: Who can catch a punt without fumbling? It doesn’t matter who is fastest. It matters if you catch the ball. Someone new will be doing it this year. And ball security is paramount. So tell me who has the best hands?

  1. Biggie or Langley….chance to expand their brand and serve the ball club

    • Jack Jack should shine bright as a return man…go get it, Jack…..seize control of the race!

    • Baxter? I think? Sounds like a missed opportunity to ask Baxter himself when the moment presented itself.

  2. Now Scoop in Scooter is asking the readers to do his job. Shouldn’t he be telling us who has the best hands. Maybe he could ask Coach Baxter

  3. What a joke. We need a real reporter/football guy running this blog.

This is just stupid. Uh, board. Help me out. Do my job!

    • Now Jack, really? Could we handle real information? Reported timely and presented with style… too much to ask, isn’t it?

  4. The only one I want returning punts is the one who proves it in practice day in and day out.

Screw hype and high school talent. Let the guy who earns it on the practice field shag punts on game day. Let the best man win.

  5. Players know what they have to do if they want to keep playing. You fumble too many times, you stand on the sidelines watching others play your spot.

    • It’s not brain surgery, is it? Been this way since the beginning of sport. You play well, you play. Otherwise, the bench awaits. SC’s loaded with talented athletes.

The great Adoree Jackson won’t be immed replaced. They don’t come around like him every day. At least they haven’t in my lifetime. But someone will emerge to take his place as a valuable USC contributor.

      • Absolutely right Jack. It is what college ball is all about, retool, reload, and go win it all. Old wolfy needs to let AJ go and actually go out to a practice.
