Who Is A Reliable Punt Returner?

John Baxter said Friday that wide receiver Velus Jones is faster than Adoree Jackson. Jones, Jack Jones and Ajene Harris are the leading candidates to return punts/kicks this season.

But here is priority No. 1: Who can catch a punt without fumbling? It doesn’t matter who is fastest. It matters if you catch the ball. Someone new will be doing it this year. And ball security is paramount. So tell me who has the best hands?

Biggie or Langley….chance to expand their brand and serve the ball club

    • stevemcghghy@yahoo.com

Jack Jack should shine bright as a return man…go get it, Jack…..seize control of the race!

      • stevemcghghy@yahoo.com

Velus, our Alabama son…..I am rooting alot for him too

        • Pudly76

Anyone you’re not rooting for? I’m the same way, hard to pick a favorite.

  • Jethro G Sabbath

    Scott,
    Who are you talking to?

    • 04Trojan

Baxter? I think? Sounds like a missed opportunity to ask Baxter himself when the moment presented itself.

  • LamontRaymond

    Harris, obviously.

  • Lunderful

    My girlfriend, Jenny.

    • Pudly76

      She’s got good hands?

      • gotroy22

        Hopefully no man hands.

      • Lunderful

Are we still talking football….or other ventures?

  • Jaime

Now Scoop in Scooter is asking the readers to do his job. Shouldn’t he be telling us who has the best hands. Maybe he could ask Coach Baxter

    • Pudly76

Maybe watch practice and have a professional opinion. I guess he’d have to be professional though, wouldn’t he.

      • Sas

Most newspapers want there reporters to actually observe and report. He’s busy thinking about the English Premier league.

    • marvgoux1

This is a blog. On blogs you ask the readers what they think.

      • Sas

But……. He he says that he doesn’t read views comments.

        • David Keeling

I have never believed he doesn’t look at the responses.

          • Sas

Me too. He has to look until he gets upset. I would imagine he’s like my 9yr old, he see’s Chucky on tv or that commercial for Annabelle and he covers his eyes. Or something in that relm, closes his laptop.

        • marvgoux1

          He wants hits.

          • Sas

            More hits, more soccer jerseys.

      • Uncle Rico

Or you just scream liberal at everybody you don’t agree with and tell people how right you are.

        • marvgoux1

Huh? You shouldn’t drink and post, preachy liberal.

All of them have played receiver so I would assume that they all have good hands.

  • Jack B

What a joke. We need a real reporter/football guy running this blog.

This is just stupid. Uh, board. Help me out. Do my job!

    • Pudly76

Now Jack, really? Could we handle real information? Reported timely and presented with style… too much to ask, isn’t it?

  • ItsAllAboutTheBall

    That’s why my moniker is…………..

  • marvienna

The only one I want returning punts is the one who proves it in practice day in and day out.

Screw hype and high school talent. Let the guy who earns it on the practice field shag punts on game day. Let the best man win.

  • David Keeling

Players know what they have to do if they want to keep playing. You fumble too many times, you stand on the sidelines watching others play your spot.

    • Jack B

It’s not brain surgery, is it? Been this way since the beginning of sport. You play well, you play. Otherwise, the bench awaits. SC’s loaded with talented athletes.

The great Adoree Jackson won’t be immed replaced. They don’t come around like him every day. At least they haven’t in my lifetime. But someone will emerge to take his place as a valuable USC contributor.

      • steveg

Absolutely right Jack. It is what college ball is all about, retool, reload, and go win it all. Old wolfy needs to let AJ go and actually go out to a practice.
