Like Father, Like Son

Walk-on linbacker Grant Moore earned a scholarship last night. His father is former USC linebacker Rex Moore, pictured above in the 1985 USC-UCLA game. Grant will have a long way to go to be match his father’s quotes.

Here’s what Rex said about playing Washington State in 1986.

“Everybody there thinks we’re Hollywood surfer weirdoes — long hair, sunglasses, thongs. That’s OK. Because we all think they’re rednecks.”

Rex Moore was one of a kind, who could forget the mud facial he gave to the Notre Dame player

1984 in the rain to Notre Dame tailback Allen Pinkett!

      • Pudly76

        Jada Pinkett?

      • Alvarado

Did they (USC) win? ….Thought so

        • marvgoux1

          No, we lost 19-7.

    • The USC Heisman 7

I forgot about that lol.. Rex is a good dude, Happy for the family and Grant.. Well deserved!

“Grant will have a long way to go to be match his father’s quotes”? What the hell does this sentence mean? Wolf has a lot of juevos constantly criticizing everyone and anyone attached to USC for any little mistake, when he cannot even string together a coherent sentence.

My middle school would have set him back.

      • marvgoux1

So SC’s journalism department is worse than a middle school?

        • Pudly76

A single example isn’t always reflective of the whole group. Sometimes there are extenuating circumstances that drive one to unsurpassed excellence and others to be Wolf.

          • marvgoux1

You’ve seen the f uuclan blog. I just went over there to check it out and stir up those losers. This blog is 1000 times better.

          • Pudly76

Blogs like this one are driven more by participants than the blogger, themselves. Funny how the topics morph and diversify as the discussions go on.

          • SCgrad12

Wow, the my dad is better than your dad argument. Do you and Wolf share the same gene pool?

          • marvgoux1

If someone doesn’t agree with your jaundiced view they must be hopelessly compromised? Glad my season tickets aren’t near you.

          • JustOwns

            Due to Scot Wolf.

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day…
Teach a man to fish and watch him drink beer all day in his boat.

        • SCgrad12

Did he say that? No. Quit defending the indefensible.

          • marvgoux1

You are like the old man who shows up every day at a Jewish deli to complain about the matzo ball soup.

    • marvgoux1

He graduated with a degree in journalism from USC. So what are you saying about USC academics?

      • SCgrad12

Did I say anything about the academics at USC? No. Why is it that you are constantly defending a person like Wolf, who clearly is a hack writer at best? I just find it amazingly arrogant that Wolf can point every single mistake, real or imagined, that USC makes, yet has a hard time stringing together a simple sentence.

        • marvgoux1

I’m not constantly defending him. You and your ilk are constantly nitpicking instead of being glad we have a blog like this. You must be fun at family get togethers. I can see you melting down if someone uses the wrong fork.

      • Lunderful

It’s one thing to attend journalism classes. It’s quite another to do well in class and learn that craft over time. The fact that Wolfe likes to stir it up keeps readership high. I mean…..here we are!

FYI – USC’s communications programs are rated nationally in the top 10. Check out the rankings… Annenberg rules!

  • marvienna

    The son better be careful.

That kind of comment made at today’s USC could start a Title IX investigation and end in some sort of unjustified punishment.

    • grave soul

Geez. Thanks for killing a funny comment.

      • Jack B

Thanks to you little gutties for killing off the USC/ucla rivalry.

Since the Curse of Cade back in the late ’90s, your crappy team isn’t any competition for the Trojans. We just mop the floor with you big nowadays, unless we’re 20-30 rides short of a full team.

Once again, USC is the big dog nationally, with the All-Americas, the big rank, the Rose Bowl expectations, the buzz, the winning streak, the awesome recruiting class, et al.

ucla’s not even top 25 and the newly-single Chimp is just hoping his massive buy-out keeps him employed since he’s so stupid, he actually hired Pola to be his OC.

Maybe you’ll make a bowl this year and make Wimpwood proud. I’m sure it’ll be a dandy. Hah.

        Go Aggies!

  • Uncle Rico

I went to school with Rex and he was a crazy SOB.

  • Pudly76

Stanford plays this weekend in Australia?

  • Laker Rod

Wow. I remember Rex Moore. He broke his leg in 1986 or 1987 season. Amazingly enough USC’s defense and linebackers were still good in 87 despite missing him.
