USC vs. Texas . . . Zzzzzzz

I hope the USC-Texas game is a shootout and thrills the fans. But I’m a little tired of hearing about the 2006 game. Is Vince Young playing Saturday? Texas gave up 51 points to Maryland. The Longhorns are unranked.

I would like nothing better than for Tom Herman to pull his team together Saturday. But until it happens, I don’t see any reason to pump this game up like it has anything to do with the 2006 Rose Bowl. The uniforms will be similar. That’s about it.

    • I hope SC blows every opponent away every time, that’s what gives me a thrill. Otherwise, yes, this is not the 2006 Longhorns. Only Wolf hopes for Herman to do well.

  1. The reason is because it’s Tom Herman. He’s a great coach. If it was still Charlie Strong, I wouldn’t be so worried.

      • I’ll settle for a win….any kind of a win. Tom Herman has never lost a game when going against a top 25 team. He’s 6-0 against top 25 teams and 3-0 against top 10 teams. And that was coaching at Houston, not exactly a team with football tradition. He’s been planning for this game since last year. And Texas has talent.

  2. Well they sure don’t think over at your competition – they just wrapped up there 4 part series of that game……funny they never ran won on how ‘la bruja’ lost to Trump. Then again the Slime has always been a rat hole for bel-air tech activists.

  3. Texas will bring some big boys, a crushing RB, little passing and lots of noise. Hopefully USC will put in the 3rd string WR’s so Wolf will shut up about future stars.

    • A squad doesn’t ‘suddenly’ learn to block an opponent’s running backs – they don’t period! TX is in for a beat down – USC will score a victorious >18 points over the Longhorns.

  4. So will your attitude towards your alma mater, Flow. That will be similar as well.

“I would like nothing better than for Tom Herman to pull his team together Saturday.”

Seriously, Flow?! Get lost! Chaz Beefcake is waiting for you at the Motel 8.

  5. He hopes for a shootout so he can rag on the DC and talk about how Darnold saved USC from another loss, once again.

  6. Something’s got to give. Helton is unbeaten at home and when favored. Herman hasn’t lost to a ranked team since being an OC at osu, 11-0.

I’ll take our guy to keep his streaks going.

  7. Agree with the Wolfman from the perspective that this game will NOT avenge the National Championship loss. Only beating Texas for the National Championship will avenge that loss.
Nevertheless, Texas must be taken seriously, failure to do so will see Helton’s Coli win streak come to an abrupt end and raise questions about this team’s championship mettle.

    • Agree, agent13. Texas obliterated San Jose State 56-0 in Austin with a new QB. Our Trojans NEED TO PAY ATTENTION !!!

      • It’d be hard to stand and push off with a toe like that, better to let it heal a week or two if possible.

  8. Yeah I agree. The buildup for this game is pure media and Texas fans trying to find an angle to rally behind. The only way I see us losing this game or it being close, is if our players play to Texas’ level as their team is right now, which is building from 4/5 years when Mack Brown left the program that was consistently underperforming and witnessing assistant coaches being fired by the boatload. Texas will be back, but this game should not be close.

  9. Hopefully the Daily News will allow Wolf to cover another game since he bitterly resents having to cover this one.

He might want to consider a career change. This one is making him miserable.
