Is it wrong that I skip through all the twitter stuff and go straight to the comments?
No. It’s the right thing to do today, Clay.
How is Texas getting away with the celebrity count on their sidelines? USC cannot have any celebs it would be a recruiting violation but Texas has everybody except Bevo on their sidelines.
Helton, Rojo isn’t a power back! Stop being a bonehead and use him like one!!!
So true!
And he keeps doing it! WTH???
So far —whoever is calling the plays —whether it’s Tee or Helton— is calling a crap game. They even have Sam waiting in the pocket for plays that don’t have time to develop —when a TON of short stuff is open every play!
The team is totally out of rhythm right now. And it’s caused by horrible calls so far.
If the coaching staff can calm down and stop outsmarting themselves, we’ll be fine. Right now the offensive play calling inside the 50 is for sh*t.
Yeah, hopefully, they could regroup before it’s too late. I’m getting quite nervous here, partner. LOL!
Man, I know what you’re saying! We’re making this game way harder than it has to be. So Texas is all up for the game?! Who cares? Calm down, play to our strengths (Carr, and Deontay ) and kick their as*es!
Every team we play is up for us but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t crush them.
Whew…that was close! Now, stop losing downs with RoJo, please!!!
Bring in Carr, throw to Deontay and get it done. Bigger d-line –we need bigger back.
(If Max were still around, I’m afraid Helton would play him today, too).
The team’s totally out of whack!!! It’s not looking good for now! Yeah, they should start using Carr a lot more! RoJo isn’t doing anything!
We will win but this game should have been a blowout.
We are playing Texas’ game —they are daring us to throw —and we’re running into their line instead!
I don’t get it. Darnold is the best player in college football, use him!
Really dumb game plan on offense. There’s nothing else you can say about it. They’re not using their receivers!
Glad we aren’t playing a good team or we would be down 2 scores.
What’s going on down there?
It’s early —very early. But USC doesn’t look as focused as they need to be. And Helton is trying to prove points about toughness at the goal line instead of score touchdowns.
Time for Carr to take over as a starter. Jones cant break a tackle.
He can break most tackles in most games— BUT it’s been tough sledding for him today. Time to give Carr way more carries! Play to win! This isn’t the family picnic where everybody gets the same number of drumsticks so as not to hurt anybody’s feelings.
Over thinking by the coaches. Just play to your strengths. Pass the ball downfield, not sideways.
Poor Helton —at this point—-is getting seriously out coached. The team sees it and it’s taking a bit of air out of them.
So Scott was right we should have hired Herman?
He never got out coached. The team got out executed and Jack has to stop falling down by himself. Despite the Fox telecast our D played outstanding tonight.
Pendergast, the D and Special Teams won this game. Offense was there when it had to be, so give them credit, too. But if you think that was, overall, smart playing calling, I’d have to disagree. One could probably say Herman did more with less—-but Helton has a built- in excuse —injuries are going to continue to mount thanks to the byeless schedule the PAC 12 handed us.
#It’sComplicated
Texas offense is doing nothing, and SC is doing less than nothing at the moment!
This is exactly what I was afraid of in this game. What’s up with this clown saying USC is flinching? Texas is playing its as$ off on defense and so are we. Our special teams are a liability.
Texas selling out, time of possession will put us up starting in mid 3rd qtr.
We gotta soften that front up somehow, hopefully they wear down. These guys are talented and inspired.
Strong recruits were very good. But we have said we’d and talent, it will take some time, but gotta get Jones off the field, he did horns down on last td last week, bad choice.
I thought Rojo could have leaped over the top on that goal line play. There was nothing in the hole….gotta make that quick decision to go up top.
He could have. The touchdown was over the pile to the left. He’s just not a savy runner at all. He doesn’t know how to slide and find space. This is all contrasted by the absolute polish #7 shows already. #7 is a football player and does some intricate, insightful things when he runs.
He’s also bigger, stronger and faster. Let’s not worry about bruised feelings and let him take control of this game.
RoJo, RoJo and more f’g RoJo….!!!!!
Wow…Maryland ran all over this Texas defense. It’s early, but this is eye opening.
Is Maryland that good?
I’m not sure at this point. Texas obviously wasn’t up for Maryland but are having no trouble finding inspiration to take out SC.
Last week you guys hated Jack Jones now Ronald?FTFO!
About f’ ing time!
We get the ball to start the 2nd half.. Gotta play D here…
Holy Crap that just happened!
I think we’ll win this game eventually, but it might not be that easy all the way to the end. The third quarter will be the decider.
Zone blocking isn’t happening, need to throw them off balance run a counter trey or trap on a cross buck.
This team is good!
Pathetic!
Foolish punk!
Just a reaction to the pick six, calm down goofy.
A throw to Jalen Greene? With all our weapons? In our own territory? I really don’t know if we’re gonna survive the stupidity of our offensive play calling.
I’m just done with Jalen Greene. It’s a failed experiment as far as I’m concerned.
How can Helton be so blind? I appreciate his caring for kids who’ve stuck with the program —-but there have gotta be ways of showing appreciation which don’t involve giving a very uneven receiver the ball deep in our territory in a tight game. That’s not loyalty —that’s stupidity. (And it’s not fair to a team that is battling real hard after a tough week with Stanford).
Same here. Like max browne, nice guy but not a starter. put tyler vaughns back in.
He should be a backup QB.
Now that was pretty amazing. Brain cramp by the Texas defense and great block by Mitchell.
That was a much better way of utilizing RoJo!
Ha ha, no doubt about that one.
Helton should use Carr to punch it in, which he failed to do earlier, or we could be up by a couple more TDs right now.
I think you’re right about that. Maybe even try Darnold on a naked boot down there if their ends are crashing inside every time. That’s more risky than Carr to punch it in though.
That’s another kink they could use. Anyhow, Carr should carry the ball more in the second half, and use RoJo’s speed in some trick plays.
1 yard rushing for Texas in the first half
Wow, what a statistic!!! Unbelievable!!!
We could have had another TD had they not run up the middle on 4 and goal….what a pathetic call
As dumb as they get. Rojo wasn’t going anywhere against Texas in that situation.
RoJo is stronger than last year, but he’s still better utilized as a speed back. Carr should be the primary RB for this team, especially against a defense like Texas’.
Reminds me of 4th and 2.
…without Lendale yet!
Texas is not a good team. We are playing down to their level for some unknown reason.
And yet they are in the game.
By the way, Coach O and his #12 LSU Tigers go down 37-7 to Miss. St. tonight.
Ouch
Shocker.
I’m glad those three sacks at the end for SC didn’t go for naught, ending in a tied half. Amazing run after catch by Jones. Heck, why not move him to receiver and play Carr more? And Ware.
Texas’ All American tackle Williams is out for the game.
Receivers catch the ball, whole different ball game. Hands of stone tonight. Sam finally looked like Sam on the touchdown pass at the end of the half.
Gomer and T Bone should just stay home and let Darnold play
I don’t know what it looks like to you guys —but it looks to me like Sam keeps flexing his shoulders before each play —is he okay?
I haven’t noticed that. I’m comfortable with our ability to close. We closed the half ahead and I think we’ll do it in the 4th too.
Great call, Clay!!
#IWillNeverDoubtYouAgain
#Prescient
Thanks. We know how to win.
That’s not good at all.
I wouldn’t mind if we stopped running for the rest of the game. Go down field please, not sideways…
These teams are totally different teams from the 2006 NC game, but obviously, there’s no love lost between them, and it’s a punishing battle with some patterns repeating, like SC being unable to convert all those 4th downs!
Just curious, is Tee Martin the primary play caller with input from Tyson Helton or do the two share play calling duties?
The ref that did the Stanford game would have definitely thrown the flag on that one.
Wish we had Boermeester right now.
Hey! What a fricking surprise, marv —the walk on saved our butts!
Some timeouts would be nice at this point.
Now the trolls will be back
Maybe not as much now. Ha ha.
Clutch kick. Especially with the laces out.
laces were in… dummy… When you kick, you want the laces out!
Lol! You’re right dude. It’s late where I am, what can I say.
Bruins loss dummy, go to bed!
San Diego St. 10, Stanford 7 at the half.
What a win!
As hard as this was this win w our kicker making 2 clutch kicks is worth every worry. It is huge for him to get this experience and come through.
I’ll take it!
Darnold comes through and Rosen chokes. Darnay Holmes true frosh got burned left and right. 88Straight HUMILIATED as usual. LOL!!!
From ProbationU to 88Straight to IamDUMB. Ha ha ha!!
Well that was ugly but I said we’d let down. Better get better
Trojans may win ugly but UCLA LOSES UGLY.
Winning ugly is better.
SC has a ton of work to do. Starting with coaching. With that being said, glad they got the win.

What a game…Fight On!
Y’all have a nice season, I’m done. Ever met such a negative bunch. Good luck.
I hope this isn’t true. You’re one of the few that has some depth of knowledge. I share your frustration with the uninformed noise and nonsense from Wolf and the posters. The problem you have is that very few people (if any) in your real life want to talk USC football to the extent you do. I don’t agree or approve of everyone of your posts, but you’re a pretty solid football guy.
