USC-Cal Throwback Memory

This Saturday is the Joe Roth Memoral Game, which honors the beloved Cal quarterback and will feature the Bears wearing throwback uniforms. Well, the first Joe Roth game was in 1977 (above).

And that featured a fight that cleared the sidelines in the fourth quarter. According to reports, Cal’s Anthony Washington punched USC tailback Charles White in the face while White laid on the sideline. White retaliated and the sidelines emptied. Cal upset the Trojans, 17-14.

  1. Having gone to games at Bezerkly, Pasadena, Eugene, Tempe & Palo Alto, I’d say Kal fans are the worst I’ve encountered even worse than bruin fans , followed by Scum Devil fans then Duck fans. Stanford fans are OK, they don’t seem to care either way but the students are nuts.

    • Those Calantifa Bear fans are the worst.. Lol..They’ll probably protest if they lose.. #fighton

    • I grew up watching Stanford games at Stanford. My father was a season ticket holder for 30 years. Based on that experience and exposure, I swear that 80% of the Furd fans have no idea what they are watching. It was a social scene.

  2. I have been in both stadiums up north. I’ll never go back to the farm, where a bee hive had formed in our section. The problem was as USC fans we were treated to a tough toenails attitude . We were told sit there or don’t we don’t care.
Cal at least had friendly people working at the stadium.

  3. Typical UC attitude, slug, kick, steal, rape, burn kill anything that crosses you. No discipline or class, just anarchists.
