The Easy QB Schedule

Oregon State Beavers quarterback Darell Garretson (10) is tackled by the USC Trojans defense during the first half of an NCAA college football game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, on Saturday, Oct. 07, 2017. (Photo by Keith Birmingham, Pasadena Star-News/SCNG)Here’s an interesting trend for USC this season: Look at the quarterbacks the Trojans faced.

Jon Wassink (Western Michigan): First career start

Keller Chryst (Stanford): Regular starter

Sam Ehlinger (Texas): Second career start

Ross Bowers (California): Fourth career start

Luke Falk (Washington State): Regular starter

Darrell Garretson (Oregon State): Second start of season

Troy Williams (Utah): Demoted starter

  1. W-L record of teams USC has faced is 20-13. W-L record of teams Alabama has faced 16 -15

  2. You would have to be actively looking for negative information to come up with this and then print it. Why?

  3. All the more reason for USC to upgrade its DB recruiting. We need more talent back there because USC has made some of these opposing QBs look pretty good.

All hail the Winning Ugly Bunch. 5-1 now, #13 in the country and gearing up to beat the Utes on Saturday. Fight On!

    • Scott didn’t happen to mention that the Texas qb just beat out the original starter last week did he? Shoo ger started last week vs K st.

        • Ha! [Such a lovely set up line, steveg —-but, given how things are, I’m not touching it with, as Dan Aykrod puts it in Ghostbusters, ” a 10 meter cattle prod”].

  4. Okay, now apply that same logic to the SC OL in the 2nd quarter of the Washington ST. game… 3 true freshmen.

I suppose one could also point out how meaningless all this is when you see that Sam Darnold threw 3 TD’s in his second start and 5 in his fourth.

    • It was only two true freshmen, but point we’ll taken. It would’ve been different with a week to practice, but suddenly thrusting three new starters into a line is tough for any team to overcome. Not an excuse, just reality.

      • Was it two true and one red-shirt?

Yeah, Wolf doesn’t seem too get the difference between an excuse and an explanation.

  5. I believe this is an appropriate time to ask.
To my Trojan family, could you suggest sites that offer meaningful statistics, insight, and opinions? I’ve reached the point where these posts by insider SW are no longer funny. Thank you in advance. Fight On!

  6. Tonight on I hate USC Athletics, your host Scott Wolf will discuss credentials of the quarterbacks USC has faced so far.

    • But will ignore USC’s strength of schedule, which is 11th out of all 130 teams…

  7. Look at the QB;’s Alabama faced for their first 3 National Titles
    1. After knocking out Colt McCoy early (Gale Gilbert- Texas Freshman)
    2. Jordan Jefferson – LSU Sophomore
    3. Everett Golson – Notre Dame Freshman
None of these playing on Sundays………..

    • Also faced a Clemson team
Missing 6 starters in 2016 .. their titles are so BS especially that repeat vs freaking LSU

  8. Kind of typical in college football. Never has USC gone up against all junior or senior QB through the entire schedule. Point is Wolf is pointless.

  9. So what’s the point of this list??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

    Are we 0-6??????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  10. That’s college football. What a stupid article. You are not going to face a Luke Falk every week.
