USC Morning Buzz: It’s Game Day At The Coliseum

As usual, we will have a live chat for today’s game. What to make of the Pac-12 after Cal routed Washington State? Perhaps the message is any team can lose. But really who thought Washington State was a tad overrated with its No. 8 ranking? Of course they were. They played five home games and beat Oregon with its third-string true freshman quarterback.

And they had the dreaded back-to-back road games with a short week for the second game. A Pac-12 tradition.

  1. Happens every year. Pac 12 school upsets USC then plays a terrible game and loses to inferior pac 12 school. USC can’t catch a break lol

  2. WaSt threw that game away, actually lost it. Cal played a good pressure defense and put enough points up until WaSt threw in the towel. Falk was looking to get hit every play. Too bad USC didn’t play that type defense against them.

Hoping against Utah they pressure on D. Also that they put in a new wrinkle or two to give ND something to look out for. Double TE out of the “I” would drive the domers nuts. Would work great against Utah also with play action. Motion receivers and roll outs next week.

    • USC sacked Falk five times and they were almost all for significant yard loss.

WA St. is akin to all the Pac-12 teams who play USC – they save up to bring their A game and then haven’t a clue how to play strong after.

      • Exactly. Every team pulls all the stops against SC and then they burn out after. Happens almost every year. Pathetic really, that these teams play SC like its a bowl game. Have some pride and play every game like you play SC. Then the pac 12 would be hands down the most deep conference.

    • Good points there Steve.

They really need to play their best game tonight. They need something good and positive to build on for next week. If they can’t put it together tonight, nothing will change against the Irish. They’re not a team you want to play when you’re still struggling on offense and leaving your defense on the field too long.

I hope the coaching staff makes the proper adjustments and the Darnold/coaching plays incident works for the better of the team. They should be able to handle Utah tonight.

  3. Gee Wolf, the “dreaded back to back road games with a short week” is tough for WSU but not supposed to be a problem for SC?

    • He says ”A Tad” because he had them ranked #10 on his poll. Why did sw have them ranked so high if they were over rated?
It goes to show how much he really knows.

      • I was thinking the same thing. Wolf seems to exist in some parallel world where a mysterious “they” is to blame for all of this, despite the fact that he’s an AP voter.

  4. I love the unpredictability of college Football. …I have become a big fan of DAVID SILLS BECAUSE of the hatchet job Wolf did on him for many years.Today Sills has caught ANOTHER 3 TD’S, bringing his total to 12.Leads the country. David is a great story.

    • That Oregon State- Colorado game was a stinker. Oregon State blows the field goal at the end thanks to that dumb run call on 2nd and ten.

  5. USC at half a total dumpster fire against UTAH. Darnold has regressed more than Barkley did. Hard to believe this. Can’t wait to watch USC in South Bend.

Maybe a miracle will happen and USC will completely transform itself at halftime. Either that or USC becomes the Losing Ugly Bunch instead of the Winning Ugly Bunch.

SC’s blowing a great chance to break into the top 10. But right now, the Trojans don’t even look top 25.

Fight On Baby! Two quarters to fix this.
