But where oh where did Flow put them?
I am sure behind Utah. His back up theory will prevail.
Honestly, still doesn’t matter. It’s like the basketball tourney. Win and advance. You have to be 12-0 or 11-1 to get the invite. So just win.
What no ruins on the list?
I find it good when the brubabies loose.I get satisfaction everytime we beat them. BUT ND I LOVE IT when we turn their green crimson. ND is the team each year I look to us to destroy. This is a National rivalry, best in football. If the team doesn’t get pumped to another stratosphere, then we are without spark.
Time to put Utah behind and think about the idiot JERRY TILLER. We should fly into south Bend without the need of wings. This team should take the mojo we had against Stanford, to another level.
Nice stuff, peter.
Good stuff Peter!
espn power index has the irish with a 72% chance to win, that alone should motivate them. Let alone the tillery tomfoolery kicking AcaCedrick in the head while down and out!
Stanford index was high to beat us too.!!! Want to see our team fired up.
Power index is a joke.
Agreed, was just pointing to it as a motivational tool. I’m sure by this weekend there will be plenty!
The polls always show the east coast bias, this one in particular. Miami??? OK St??? I can see where Wisconsin, and TCU are up for a big fall as they finally have some tough games coming up. Georgia hasn’t had a tough game all season, the easiest schedule in college football. They sqeaked by ND by 1. USC has their future in their own hands, just win baby.
We will see if Georgia’s win over ND was quality or not.
probaly wood be hire if jack b tolled every one all the importint poeple he clamed to wathc the gaims with, smdh! im sure they r so exsited to wathc the gaim with a trainsengender like jack b,
You’re an idiot…..move on.
u have a girls name,
My girlfriend said the same thing
Switch hitting has it rewards
That’s his schtick.
tedious twit.
gee,,,briliant repartee, shmaveler, smdh,
Do you have a speech impediment that impacts your writing?
Rankings, Utah game all secondary. One name to think about Jerry Tiller, the cheep A.s ND shot he and his team took last year. This is it the greatest national rivalry in football. Beating them is second to none. Brubabies are just a local distraction.
That photo of Lou Gehrig ‘SC’ and Babe Ruth ‘ND’ 1927 – remember this was a month after the NYY had defeated the Pirates four straight and is considered the finest squad in MLB history.
The best recognize the best!
There were some long train rides in this series. Many decades. Hype for many years was deep rooted, organic. Curious how much history the young Trojans will receive this week. I trust there will be many veterans of this game at practice.
The success of the USC Trojan teams gave confidence when LA bid for the X Olympiad. It also moved Dan Reeves to move his CLE Rams to LA in 1946 which in turn brought the: dodgers, Lakers, etc. to re-locate to Los Angeles.
Sports, and film industry. later tv.
Anthony Barr (remember him?) just broke Aaron Rodgers’ collar bone on a late hit. Mora would be proud. Watch the UCLA/Arizona game and count the number of cheap shots executed by the Bruins. It’ll be nice when Mora is out of college football.
Somebody will get him for that. Aaron Rodgers is a somebody. But we needed WASU or Washington St to stay undefeated.
Uhh….it’s “Wazzu”, which is short for Washington State. <>
Wow!
You got me !
I feel like crap!
When you read too much of Wolf, typos get to be a habit!
Maybe so. Traveler is serious about getting names correct. He rolled his eyes at me.
She is a troll, ignore her.
I like WASU better, Sam! As a matter of fact, it’s no longer Wazzu —-it’s WASU for everybody!
Haa!
Don’t let that guy hear you say that Mike!
I get the feeling it’s not a guy, Sam. A little too feline.
He’s something!
Ha! But what, Sam??
You are correct, sir.
troller is a feminazi. She has to compensate by being obnoxious for never playing the game.
She’s touchy.
I’m more into touchy-feely
Me too!
Apparently so is that fund raising guy that just got canned.
Elton John wrote a song about her.
Rocket man?
Close…
If sas says WASU and troller says Wazzu, then it’s WASU!
I’m good with that, gt.
#Traveler&HerWASUAreSoOver
troller is the self appointed board grammar nazi.
I hate grammar nazi’s.
Imagine being married to that witch…
Sorta like what Billy Crystal was married to in Princess Bride.
Let’s all misspell everything for a bit until she blows a gasket correcting us….
Should we misspell “Irish” all week?
You know, gt, I think you may have something there. I’m for going with ISIS.
Good one! I’ll use it too!
Traveler is gonna get so exhausted —-which might be good for her.
It’s troller. She’s a feminazi so I can’t believe she uses the politically incorrect handle of our mascot’s horse.
Yeah —-what is THAT about?
#OnlySheKnows
Haaaa!
I new study came out this week saying that being whipped to a witch like troller is bad for a man’s health.
That makes several hundred of us, Sam!
It’l heal.
Hey it’s troller! Shouldn’t you be at a NARAL convention cheering the sale of baby body parts?
Probably more of a NAMBLA guy. (But this time, he IS right. “Wa St.” or “WSU” or “Wazzu.”)
“WASU” is awful and I heard an announcer in a game refer to them as “Wazzu State.”
Sorry, sas was calling WA “WASU”
You say tomato he says tomato.
Uhh…you missed the point: he basically said, “we needed Washington St or Washington St to win.” WASU (sic) IS Washington St.
Where do y’all come from?!
Interesting article by the San Jose Mercury News on how the Pac 12 scheduling is killing teams chances.
A win in the Pac12 CG would have looked good over a team with no losses, but now it takes away from that situation. We may need some kind of help. Like Miami to lose and Clemson to lose again.
Not to get ahead, too soon, but, beat WASU in the CG would be huge help, redeem the one loss.
Yeah. As long as they can win out from here on.
I think Stanford is going to rise to the top of the division,
Yes Stanford annihilated the hapless Quackers. Their era is over.
Quackers been dead for a couple of years. Expecting Stanford to get there too. It’s just taking longer than expected.
Washington’s loss really f**k us. We’ll take all the help we can get
Yep. But if WAZZU and UW can stay inside the top 15 the rest of the way we may be in good shape down the road. Assuming we handle our own buisness.
One will lose to the other and drop out of the top 25.
That’s what I’m thinking. But I hope not.
Truth is if we handle our own bizz, that means we are playing like last year at end. We have it in us.We win out, nobody will want to play us
We can still turn it around. We’ve made it this far
You handle your business and I’ll handle mine. Everyone handle their own.
I agree.
Could you believe they lost because the field goal kicking was so putrid?
Peterson once had a kicker that cost him dearly, while at Boise
Apparently Peterson was so upset at the first easy kick being missed he put in the backup and he hit the goal post from 20 yards out!
Interesting, I didn’t realize it was the backup. The kicking game continues to haunt him. I still think he’s a great coach. Somethings you can’t control
The announcers said Washington can’t seriously compete for the playoff with bad kickers like that. Ouch!
Remember everyone worrying about our kicker, glad it worked out?
We have no worries in a close game. That will be big in the playoffs.
Really dumbo move on Petersen’s part. [Is that what’s called biting off your nose to spite your face]?
Unfortunately Clemson and Miami don’t meet in the regular season.
That sucks.
Miami will loose again.Hey buddy have a Great trip and time at game! !!!Hope you and yours have time of your life. Along with a classic victory.
Bad news on my side. My friends plane ticket cannot be transferred to my name. No go for me . BUMMER! We tried everything. The airlines won’t budge. But thanks anyways!
What airline? United?
That I dont know. I just my buddy was ripping the supervisor for a good hour. The only way they change his name to my name is with a death certificate. It wasn’t meant to be i guess. But now I’m on a mission to get there in two years. I just feel bad that’s he out a plane ticket for now, and possibly a game ticket. I was willing to buy both.
That’s only been a thing for, like, 20 years or more.
I haven’t been on a plane since August 1997. World Youth Week in Paris, France….
Got to see Pope John Paul II drive right in front of me. Pretty cool!!!!!
But as you can see I don’t get around.
American airlines. Which is now United also right?
That is a bummer. Hopefully the leprechaun suffers for this.
Amen!
Just got back from Ireland, friggen leprechauns everywhere
Headin’ to the UK in 4 weeks
And hurricane.
The good news is Ohio State and Penn State will meet in two weeks and we can pass whoever loses.
That’s true
And Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will meet and we pass the loser by also…so we are #9 right there if we take care of business.
A 1 loss PAC12 Champion makes the CFP.
Now the question is will there be a 1 loss PAC12 Champion?
Just playing hard Michael?
The league has made a point to protect the QB. Which has limited the aggressiveness of defenses
Yeah, I’m not sure if I’m cynical or sarcastic but I was jesting!
Barr has a history. I tend not to give him the benefit of the doubt.
#JustLikeMora
I was watching the game. IMO, it looked like a bad no-call. The league will review it and take appropriate actions
Would you consider Barr’s hit on Matt Barkley a cheap shot also?
Let’s just say that Barr took FULL advantage of Tackle Aundrey Walker’s mind being on something other than the game.
#BarrIsGonnaGetHis
#AndNoOneIsGonnaShedATear
He hit him in the 1st quarter – Barr is a bum who played for a bum at a corrupt school
That about sums it up, Alv!
USC beats a quality opponent, but wolf drops the Trojans two spots, 13 to 15. I guess you would have to get inside of wolf’s head to figure that one out.
I’ve got a crow bar Incase it’s rusty and doesn’t open easy.
Too funny!…..I can contribute some penetrating oil
Is that for the handling of our respective businesses?
no, just a rusty cranium
Just need to win out from here. All we can control! This week a good indicator at ND
Go DODGERS!!!!!!!!
Go Cubs
But why???
So, in other polls, USC is now #1 in the Pac-12. That’s all we care about. Just win baby!!!
First win the South, then the conference. The rest will take care of itself.
Not only are we going to win the conference, but we’re going to Indiana and Arizona and we’re going to Colorado and then the Rose Bowl and the National championship game, and then we’re going to Washington DC, to take back the white house– YEAAHHARGHHHH!!!
First beat the Irish!
Saturday will be a marquee game with the Irish. #11 and #13, both with one loss, season turning game for both. If SC wins big, could be the end of Brian Kelly.
Cold hearted wind, blowing still!!
Just think, they had delusions of grandeur 3 years ago when they signed Rosen. They are now closer to the cellar than the top.
Delusions of grandeur be damned, they cemented themselves to the bottom of the south. Takes a special talent to ruin that many 4 & 5* athletes and turn them into the dregs of college football!
How can they recruit so well and lose to Arizona’s 2 stars?
It’s a secret that’s why mora clos s his practice while waiting for his patent to clear..
It’s got something to do with blue parking placards.
Where are the ruins this fine Sunday? Should we have a roll call for them?
When we go to sleep that’s when they (J-metaphor, Owns) will show up.
They would have been here all last night if we had lost.
But you won in such a positive way!
That’s right. We WON.
Worst case scenario – USC get’s blocked from the final four right?
Well consider where they would then be placed for a bowl and who would be their opponent? Not from the ACC as i see only one team worth a darn in early December ‘maybe’ from the Big 10 but they tend to cannibalize each other and that leaves the Big 12 and SEC.
Soooo….I’m thinking shades of 2003 and USC vs IA down in the Orange Bowl ‘cept this time it’s USC vs. GA who loses to AL in the SEC CCG.
The AP is angry at how the FBS has further reached its’ tentacle to control and decides to go ‘2003’ and crowns the winner of that game their ‘nc’ for 2017.
I know it’s a lot of ‘this and that’ but if USC were to be shut out the writers know who is worthy
I wonder if the beat writers hatred of Helton as shown by the subject columns, has any effect on polls? But the season is not over
His vote is almost always lower (by far) than the avg voter
You mean his vote is always the least informed.
That too.
My notes on USC making the CFP:
To make the CFP we must win out. Obviously. Right now, I’d bet that it will be AL, GA, the BIG10 champ and whomever is best of the rest (Clemson winning out beats USC winning out). WA and Wazzu losing hurt us. Pac12 and Big12 are outside looking in.
We don’t have much in our remaining schedule to build our already
iffy resume with, except next week at ND and the PAC12 CG, though AZ and AZ St. look much more threatening than we expected in August. ND must be our Statement game. Stumble through the rest of the games, as has been our way in 2017, but we must dominate our last regular-season ranked opponent, on the road, on national TV.
Who do we need help from? At least 7 in front of us must lose, since the SEC teams will need 2 losses (either GA or AL, which is a longshot) and we need a combined 3 losses between 2 teams in the Big 10.
Alabama can still lose 1 game and stay in the CFP. If they win out but lose the SEC CG to an undefeated GA or lose one and beat and undefeated GA — 2 SEC teams could be in the playoffs. Beating FL St and murdering the cupcakes was impressive. 2 moderate wins. Auburn and LSU are the only (slightly) risky games.
Penn State has 3 tough games plus the B10 CG. Same scenario
as AL: win out, lose the B10 CG to undefeated WI, both could go. Headliner Barkley helps their credibility as does whipping Indiana and Northwestern. Iowa was too close, but PSU smashed everyone else they were supposed to smash. Next two games are super TOUGH; Mich then at Buckeyes then they are at very tough-again Sparty.
Georgia looks like it has the easiest schedule (them or
Wisconsin) to close the regular season, assuming they will play AUB better than LSU did. They could easily win out, lose the SEC CG to Alabama and still go to the CFP. Losing to Auburn and beating AL in the SEC CG will get them in, too. Quality wins over ND and Miss State and killing everyone but ND really helps them in ways our resume hurts us.
TCU: OK St. and WV were impressive wins. Little struggle with SMU is the weak spot on their resume. Several tough games to finish: Io St., TX, OK, TxTech and the still-fighting Baylor Bears. Plus, they now have a CG.
Wisconsin struggled with NW and Purdon’t, face upstart Terps, Iowa and Michiscum. A weak schedule like WA; one loss and they will need help.
Ohio State is beating the hell out of everyone outside of the OK loss. Penn State at home after a bye this week is a lucky draw, especially with PSU having to get through Michiscum this weekend. Loser next week is out of playoffs.
Clemson drops only 5 spots after road loss to mediocre team because, unlike USC, they have been impressive most of their time on the field EVERY game. The next 3 games will tell if they will beat our hopefully 12-1 resume, but like us, they need help in losses by teams above them.
Miami (FL); There is no Karma. Otherwise these mammy-rammers
would be 0-fer the season and injured permanently. 2 freak wins have them leaping up the ladder. Otherwise they have NOTHING. I don’t think it’s a reach to hope they lose 3 of last 6 VTech, ND and VA.
Oklahoma: Losing at home to a 31-point dog with a LB at QB (not
to mention almost losing to winless Baylor) negates the big win at OH St. TX last week was pretty good. They still have 4 major hurdles: TxTech, OK-Mullet,TCU and WV.
Oklahoma State: Crushing most while 1-1 in close games
against their 2 best opponents. The TCU game wasn’t really that close, but TCUis hot, so it’s not a bad loss. Still must win out and TX, WV OK, IO ST are atough stretch.
You’re nuts if you think the FBS is going to put 2 teams from the same conference in – they did that back in 2012 AL vs. LSU and it was a ratings disaster.
How can you keep AL out of the playoffs if their only loss is to GA in the SEC CG by one score? Or vice versa?
They lost against each other and believe me no one (2012) wants to watch that again
No, I don’t believe that nobody wants that. If 2 of the 4 best teams are in the same conference, then they deserve to be there.
Right now, AL and GA ARE 2 of the best 4 teams. If they finish the regular season unbeaten, then more-so the fact.
That’s why you post here as I do and we don’t schedule future games – tv executives already know no one is going to watch GA vs AL Round 2. It isn’t going to happen – the better team wins their CCG and the loser is through
If AL beats GA, or vice versa, the losing team is out. No one other than the fans of the losing team wants to see a rematch. It’s boring to most of the fans. If we want fairness, they should have 8 teams make the playoffs. That way the big 5 can send at least one team and then allow 3 other teams to be selected.
I was watching the Finebaum show yesterday and they said no to this thought. the reason is they did not win out and lost in the last game so they would have to drop at least four spots.
Two sEc teams will not be in the playoffs. The loser did not win their league.
“The loser did not win their league.”
You mean like how Ohio State was shut out of the CFP because they didn’t win the Big10, waaaay back in 2016?
Again: If AL or GA are undefeated when they meet in the SEC CG, a close loss does not eliminate either team in my book. Emotional distaste for 2 teams from the same conference being in the playoffs does not overrule FACT.
There have been several occurrences where two top teams face off and the close loser drops only 2 spots.
The 2nd-best or 3rd-best team should lose to the best team, that loss doesn’t make it the 8th best team. Not all losses are the same – the “a win is a win” or “a loss is a loss” concept is inane when considering an exact point in time.
Be serious, the Trojans are no playoff team the way they have played this season. Notre Dame game will tell a lot about the season ending goals. This coaching staff is a negative with too many losers handling the different positions. The two co-ordinators are not doing the job along with Baxter and the horrible punt return team. The conference is weak all around to give any credence to the voters.
A lot of truth there then again Clemson sure looked clueless losing to a SYR 4-3 team. What I’m driving at is the ACC is about the same prowess as the Pac-12 – not much there regardless of Miami at 7 – 0.
I think the strongest conference is the Big 12 but OK, as the best team in 2017, loss to IA St. has them in big trouble. TCU will win next week against KS and probably but not definitely a week later @ IA St.
There are 6 unbeatens left – Big 10 / PA St and WI, ACC / Miami, SEC / AL & GA and Big 12 / TCU.
We saw three unbeatens go down since Thursday (WA, Clemson and WA St.) there is a lot of football left to play
WMich just lost at home as a 12.5-point fav.
I think 11 is about right. It’s frustrating to watch them this season, but they have been winning..ugly, but winning.
