Josh Fatu, Porter Gustin And Stephen Carr Unlikely For Notre Dame

Defensive tackle Josh Fatu (concussion) is “probably out” according to Clay Helton. Porter Gustin is still wearing a boot on his foot and out. Stephen Carr (foot) has not practiced this week and looks unlikely to play.

And defensive end Rasheem Green (ankle, shoulder) did not practice today. USC’s banged up heading into the Notre Dame game.

It would be so cool if Clay were lying through his teeth all week —-and Bigelow, Gustin, Carr, Fatu and even Mat Boermeester all play.

    • USC jojo

And Fred posted “The key to beating Notre Dame is passing the ball to set up the run”.
Just kidding Fred. I agree with you on running the ball.

      • Michael Guarino

It’s all about disrupting South Bend’s ethos, jojo! This week USC should be running ads telling everybody at Notre Dame who owns a cat to treat them like a dog, and vice versa.

    • Paul Muad’dib

That would be gold if Reggie was on the sidelines. Maybe he pushes the players as they go out on the field lol…

      • Michael Guarino

Ha! Sometimes it’s necessary to disrupt the other team’s concentration…..

      • USC jojo

        Lol….It may work.

    • RegalTrojan

And Pete Carroll and Norm Chow have been just hired as assistants! LOL!

      • Michael Guarino

Yes, RT. Pete’s back! On a one game basis! And Charlie Weis is back for Notre Dame. And Pat Haden calls the game for NBC [from a minimum security facility in northern California].

          OMG! We’re in MG’s Wonderland! LOL! Burn…baby…burn…

          • Michael Guarino

            You have to BELIEVE, RT!

          • RegalTrojan

I will definitely try if it could become the reality, MG!

          • David Keeling

Say what you will about MG, but he would have never hired a Clay Helton for HC.

      • Gabby

        …and OJ as honorary captain

        (.that might be pushing it)

        • Michael Guarino

I was wondering who’d go with it first, Gabby…..
          [But I should have known]……

      No Osa?

If you only knew the struggle I went thru leaving him out, Arturo…..

Sorry, MG. I really couldn’t think of someone else. Awesome post- I had to respond.

          • Michael Guarino

Thanks, my friend. [Before posting now, I always ask myself, “what would get me thrown out of Arturo’s class?”]…..

          • Arturo

Aww man. You should see some of the craziness that goes on in the school. My students, however, are super well-behaved. I could never throw you out. You’d be the guest of honor.

          • Michael Guarino

That’s such a cool, cool thing to say, Arturo! If I come back to the mainland, I’d love to!
[I’d be on best behavior so I could measure up to your students]!

          • Arturo

Dude, I wanna be you- You are somewhere abroad? Hawaii, maybe? You’re blessed. If you are on vacation, have a wonderful one and keep writing those funny posts. They’re hilarious.

          • Michael Guarino

In Maui, Arturo! It’s pretty wonderful —-double rainbows, emerald water. [Very restful after a life on the 9th floor of the Criminal Courts Building prosecuting ‘outsiders’ while the ‘insiders’ stole the City blind—and nobody could do anything about it]….

          • Arturo

Sweeeet!! It’s past my bedtime. Criminal Courts? You have earned your time in Maui. Night, sir.

          • Michael Guarino

            Night, my bud.

      • Ted

        No O.J?

  • Fred Sampson

USC’s been banged up for the last four years… Next Man up !

    • FIGHTONtoVICTORY

time to get rid of strength and conditioning coach, Ivan the Terrible.

    • marvgoux1

How can our DL hold ND without Rasheem?

      • Michael Guarino

        Rasheem will play, marv.

Our db could teach them, he holds pretty good!

      Sanctions.

    • Michael Guarino

Our problem is that the next man up has either collided with a teammate during pre-game warm ups, been kicked outta school, gotten into a car accident or decided he no longer wishes to play the game of football in exchange for his scholarship.

      • Fred Sampson

        Truth !

    • Ben Factor

They will get 11 men on the field on both O and D. 🙂 It appears unlikely, thought that said 22 will beat ND. 🙁

  • Chris

vaughns, Burnett, and Mitchell all healthy and Sam not turning it over will be the reason we win. Patch work lines will play well enough.

    • Ben Factor

      Not so much…

  • schammer47

The Trojans have been beaten up ever since the 2017 season began. it sucks then, it sucks now………

  • Arturo

I think if SC is down big in the 2nd half then Helton would have to seriously consider resting his starters and just trying to win the PAC 12.

  • Arturo

I really dislike ND more than any other rival so considering this and my other post about the possible outcome of the game really pains me, but… If SC were to lose a very close game in South Bend, and win out the rest of the season, could they still make the playoffs? I have read that they have the toughest schedule in the country and have no bye weeks. The committee has always been reasonable about strength of schedule. Just wondering.

    • Jack B

No. SC loses and we’re out. With both Washington schools unexpectedly taking it on the chin and losing to other unranked teams in the Pac-12, this conference is viewed as weak. Let’s say ALA and GA go undefeated and play for the SEC championship. IMO, they’ll still both get in, with their only loss being to the other in the championship game. That’s two spots right there.

I think the Big Ten, the ACC and the Big 12 or ND will take other two with the Pac-12 left out, unless a 1-loss UW squeaks in somehow. But a 2-loss USC? No way.

      • Fred Sampson

That’s exactly what’s going to happen

    • trojan_1972

I just can’t stomach their leprechaun mascot, year in and year out.

  • Ted

Soft quitters at southern cal are running scared as they are about to face Notre Dame! Anything to get out of getting kicked in the ARRRSS by the Irish!

Retire, crash cars and phantom injuries…such a southern cal move!

    • SCgrad12

Hey Theodore, you have a hang nail? Is that why you’re not going to be in your usual spot on the metrolink this Saturday?
      #amanofculture

    • Jack B

At least Notre Dame is competition, though USC annihilated the Irish last year, just like we killed off you feeble little gutties, as usual.

Congrats on your flop job against the mighty ARIZ Wildcats. Does your team even practice for these bruin blow-outs?

Too bad for you we still have to play you pitiful little gutties in Nov. We’re all laughing at the prospect. Another easy money game against Mora, The Chimp.

Good to see you here Ted. You Trolls have been sorely missed since your last wipeout. Who do you play this weekend? Do any of you bruins still care?

      • Ted

puhahahahhahah Your mom has the meatloaf ready in the microwave… get off that couch in the basement and start convincing yourself that ASU loss won’t hurt you too bad…

        #suckon

  • jim

Hate losing Fatu. He’s playing as good as he has played at SC. But Pili is aweful good.

  • Pete Smith

Next up step up play a whole game from start to finish not just the 4th quarter

    • Fred Sampson

Bingo!! Because that’s what winners do !!!!

  • David Keeling

Injuries are part of the game. Coaching staffs should know to prepare for this probability with getting 2nd & 3rd string players to perform with little drop in execution. Some do it better than others and their team’s records show it.

  • B.Miller

Im surprised this team is 6-1 with all these injuries..
