USC Survives North Dakota State

USC was tied with North Dakota State, 58-58, with a little more than six minutes left before pulling away with a 75-65 victory at the Galen Center. The Trojans were only up 4 with less than 4 minutes.

If you think North Dakota State is good, they lost to UC Santa Barbara, 85-66, Friday night. Bennie Boatwright had 28 points for USC.

    • Dear Ed Garrett,
I like your comments very much…on the surface [I hope that —deep down —-they are not attacks on the ontological structure of all blogs and bloggers]……

        • Dear Ed,
You might be right (but I always thought that when manic-depressive genius Daniel Johnston said “I’ve seen the invisible world”, he was talking about Bruin football)…….

    • Agreed….the vaunted UK with their fantastic incoming class beats Utah Valley University and then Vermont both at home this weekend, trailing by double digits against UVU and then beating that powerful Vermont team at home by 5 points….get them off their home court and then we shall see how good the UK team is…..sure…..that’s why they quit playing IU, because they did not want to play on other team’s home court…..something that seems to be staple throughout the SEC, regardless of what sport it is…..Texas Hoosier

  2. Where was the blog post when SC beat CSUF by 42? Obviously SC played poorly tonight and yet still won by double digits. I know it’s only been 2 games against bad competition, but it’s fairly evident this team is littered with talent that goes 10 deep even without melton. If everyone stays healthy, this will be one of the top teams in the nation with a legitimate shot at the final 4. Wolf’s worst nightmare…a top 5 SC football AND basketball program in the same year.

    • DIPLOMACY: After Trump Intervenes, 3 UCLA Basketball Players Set To Leave China. “President Donald Trump confirmed that he did intervene with China President Xi Jinping in the case of three UCLA basketball players who were arrested after shoplifting in China and those players are set to leave the country.”

  3. Tiah Barns anthem singer took a knee as she finished. She is a southern cal student…

Such a southern cal thing to do! Shame on USC for allowing this to happen just days after Veterans day!

      • Deny all you want! You flag burning nazi! You can’t change the fact southern cal is a dump heap of ungrateful entitled spoiled children!

    • oh golly it is another Charlie handle. to go along with Brutus, Miguelita,Yoda et all. you are a total bore
      Chuck.

  4. Scooter, you did not mention that NDS has had 5 consecutive 20 win seasons and they beat Oklahoma in the 2015 NCCA basketball tournament. Some things to know before you write.

  5. Flow: Did you have both sets of fingers crossed towards the end of the game in hopes SC would blow it? Be honest…

  6. I wish Andy and Clay the best but the reality is we need a house cleaning. Sad as I am to say this, this may be just more of the stench Haden left to be cleaned.

It seemed like upside with Andy was that he might not have the qualifications, or might not be doing well and he might have had a padded schedule but that he was a good recruiter, without drama. Andy promptly antagonizes a former USC coach, makes provocative statements in the media that he can’t back up, and the recruiting it turns out was from a crook Pat Haden had him hire.

Pat even had an NCAA investigation for his first baseball coach hire that led to the guy’s dismissal.

The press tells us that Pat was not only a crooked but taking for him and his family from charities. That man cut throats and angled so hard to get the job, then acted like he was doing SC a favor. After saying he was only going to be an interim in the initial sanctions period he held on in the most unseemly way as each day brought a new revelation of his incompetence and crookedness.

Then we find USC has diminishing profit from its football (blame Larry Scott but SC has a powerful voice), and men’s basketball is operating at a loss. SC was willing to lose the money.

SC asked for so little from him, just for someone to seem clean and competent and hire competent people. Apparently that was far too much to ask of the man. I’ve got great faith in Swann to clean it up though. He’s got his work cut out for him.

  7. I wonder if Scott Wolf can be pleased by a woman. I can only imagine the post-coital scrutiny he gives those lucky ladies…

      • Yeah it is. Penei Sewell will be taking his final official visit and we need his size and talent. Trevor Trout is making his final OV and I hear he’s supposed to commit Monday to SC. That would be a really good pick up for us at DT. That other DT from St. Louis Michael Thompson is supposed to visit too, I don’t know how serious he is with us but at least we have him on campus. But we have to close on Sewell and Trout. “Big Time” Offensive Tackles and Defensive Tackles is what we need in our program right now more than anything so we can control the line of scrimmage and bully our opponents. The only way we get to that level is with players like these. If SC wins Saturday and the atmosphere at the Coliseum is alive and rocking it could be enough to land these guys.

        • Also, the top athlete Tufunga should show up too, and while he’ll be a hard get, he is Marlon Tuipolutu’s cousin. And there is a rumor that Tommy Togiai will be there too, a DT out of Idaho and #1 DT in the region.
Next week look for Carman Jackson and maybe even Micah Parsons! Recruiting is just starting to roll. We should here from Tyreke Smith in the next few days too.

If I hear anything much, I’ll look for you on older posts as most of these people are so negative now, I feel like I need to take a shower if I read much of their crud.

          • Thanks buddy!
I remember when it looked like Tommy Togiai was ours to lose. Micah Parsons and SC had a good connection for a while. It would sure be nice if say Palaie Gaoteote could start working on landing Solomon Tuliaupupu and making a pitch at Parsons.

***MUST GET!!! (Hasn’t changed for me)***
            1. OT Jackson Carman
            2. OT Penei Sewell
(USC would have the two best OT’8

            3. A “Big Time” DT (We need more than one)
            4. CB Isaac Taylor-Stuart
            5. OLB Solomon Tuliaupupu

I think Trout is our next commit.

            Beat the Bruins!!!!!!!!

          • Trevor Trout and the de from St. Louis are both close to announcing and Trout just added us a couple weeks ago. We’ll find out this week, he’s supposed to announce Tuesday I think. Next week will be a big one, maybe bigger than this week with Jackson and Parsons (if he comes) and a couple others.
Tufunga showed up yesterday, #1 athlete out of Oregon and just happens to be Marlon Tuipulotu’s Cousin. This could be a bigger class than 3 yrs ago!!

          • Yup, he’s supposed to be a real stud. We have hope! The biggest recruiting push will really come in January, coaches want to be able to spend a lot of time with the recruits.

          • Nice!
There’s a Bruin fan walking around in a bear suit draped sound him and he’s about to get physically hammered by someone because he’s walking around flipping everyone off.
            I’m gonna pray for him!

          • I remember the days when we shared the Coli, it used to get pretty rowdy back then but people were cooler in those days. These days you never know who your dealing with. Have fun!! Beat the ruins!!
