Where’s The Buzz?

Besides the fact it was like a cello recital (to paraphrase Jim Healy) when the game ended to mere silence, there was an attempt at a “We are SC” chant that fizzled out at the Coliseum. This was not the normal Crosstown Rivalry reaction.

  1. It is when you play down to the level of Molly mediocre programs like UCLA. Like it or not, this is the new normal for USC football with Helton.

    • #11 in AP.

One of the AP pollsters has Trojans at number 6, ahead of OSU, Auburn, Georgia….hard to figure that one out.

Wolf has Trojans at number 14. Lowest ranking among all AP writers is at number 16 (Austin, TX writer).

    • Not sure I feel that we deserve that, SAS. W’s are nice, but something’s missing. I say we stay where we’re at in the CFP rankings.

    • Since SC has exactly one win over a Top 20 team (#20 Stanford), and knowing that the team crashes around the field shooting itself in the feet in every game, lucky not to be 8-4, with a QB who’s wildly inconsistent and rattled on almost every snap, I’d say #19 seems about right.

    • in CFP SC should move up to 8. Everyone played cupcakes and Notre Dame nearly lost to Navy. The CFP voters want to keep the Pac-12 champ within reach of a playoff berth, even though they don’t deserve the last spot ahead of Oklahoma, but if Oklahoma loses, then bingo. Destination Bama.

  2. It is simply a reaction to expectations of a blow out and USC playing to the level of the competition, again, and again and again. There is nothing the coaches can say, and now at this point, do. Like Jack says, it is what it is.

  3. the only buzz was the debate over who’s the best QB in LA is like, OVER, Dude.

Herbstreet said it best: “it’s not even close…..Piglet needs another year in school” so CHosen Rosen is locked in as #1 QB while Piglet is told to go back to drawing board.

Bruins clearly outplayed trOXans, but lost. that is why Mora is gone.

i say what the hell, bring on Chip!!! he owned SC with a bunch of three stars…..can’t wait to see what he does with UCLA level talent.

    • Nah!
      Bruin excuses as usual.
      Not you Chuck!
This is not like you at all.
If you retract this right now then we’ll forget all about it…..

      #RETRACT IT

    • Never get Chip Chuck. He is a one trick pony anyway. Everyone figured out Chip and he was a bust at SF and Philly.

    • Chip plays fast and loose with the rules. I seem to recall you lecturing here about how UCLA was above that.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, huh?

    • bRuin football has been irrelevant since Donahue left in 1995, and his record was starting to slip before he skipped town.

You can expect more of what you have had for the last 20 plus years. A .500 program. If you can keep dipping into Wasserman’s wallet and keep firing coaches, you might get a 9-3 season every 5 -10 years, but that will be fool’s gold. You no longer are even in the conversation. You are behind Wisconsin, Iowa, Virginia Tech, the list goes on. Your fan base is down to 20,000 season ticket holders. I doubt many of them even care after nearly a quarter century of mediocrity.

Now go back to writing Trump a thank you note for freeing the 3 “Knuckleheads” (per New York Times headline).

    • So with the best QB in college football for 3 years, UCLA went 17-19, Lost the Foster Farms bowl, and never beat USC. Those are the highlights of his college career. Sorry to make you feel like a bigger loser than you already did, but that’s my job– pointing out facts.

  4. Alabama fans weren’t all that excited after beating Mercer either. Beating ucla is like getting busted for Shoplifting in China….Ain’t No Big Deal”

  5. Flow has to be drooling while watching this SC Basketball game right now. If he’s watching, that is.

  6. When both teams play sloppy undisciplined football, people who pay to see the game will not applaud at the end of the game. Both Mora & Helton have shown they are not “detail” coaches. USC played down to the level of an opponent whose half the team were 2nd & 3rd stringers due to injuries. They should have been put away at the very least at the end of the first half. But then again, you have Clay Helton smilling after the game saying how great UCLA played and how well USC responded to the challenge. You just want to puke…..

    • I like the description, ‘not detailed’ coach. I’ve been calling them disorganized. ‘Detailed oriented’ is a character trait that you either have or don’t and this staff doesn’t have it. Helton better hire someone to compliment his staff that is OCC level ‘detailed’ or next season will be his last.
