Arkansas Outdoes USC

Arkansas fired Bret Bielema without haste today after a 48-45 loss to Missouri.

“I was informed coming off the field I would no longer be the coach at Arkansas,” Bielema said.

Well lane kiffen is 11-0 will end up going 12-0 with a team that was 0-15 prior to that. Question is where will he end up and has he proven himself to coach another major program again?

    • Chris

????? Since when is he 12-0?

      • Chris

And when do college teams play 15 games?

        • Pudly76

          Playoffs

          • Chris

True. Usc fan edited his post. He said kiffin was 12-0 after taking over an 0-15 team. No 0 win teams play 15 games

          • Pudly76

Despite his moniker, as I’m sure you’ve realized, he is a troll. He claims to go to practices and knowing and talking to players personally. He’s also said that he was a d-1 player and a coach on a 2x d-1 national championship team.

Generally his post are foolish and never factually inaccurate. Sorry, I didn’t see his unedited post.

          • Chris

No worries. I have witnessed the d-1 coach comment. It’s funny.

    • SucKiffin

Haha … god d”mn some of u idiots never learn

  • Jack B

Why wait? He knows he’s been a goner for weeks already. The question is, what is NEB waiting on? Is it making Mike Riley feel any better to technically still have a job he doesn’t have anymore. Get it over with.

I always thought the tarmac firing was one of the things that Haden actually got right. The Kiffer just had to go (although I would have let him ride back on the bus). And now he’s already redeemed himself. Will be great to see The Kiffer get ahold of another large program and see what he can do!

    • SucKiffin

Goat getting tarmaced was great and that POS can’t coach … he proven that over and over
What is crap conference he is in again

  • Old Trojans never die

Well if he thinks Helton is a goner, I doubt he will happy this weekend. Maybe he’s aiming at Chub Kelly, maybe Arkansas can beat Ucla. I don’t see any reason we can’t get Teeball Martin sent out to Arkansas.

  • steveg

They fired Bielema faster than USC fired Kiffen after the game.

    • Linkster

      Ok thanks

    • LamontRaymond

ah, that makes sense. Thought he was trying to suggest that Arkansas out-did SC by firing their coach faster than SC fired Helton. Under that reading, it would be a new low for Scottie. Glad that wasn’t the meaning.

  • steveg

It wasn’t all Bielema being a bad coach, he really isn’t. But nobody wants to go to Arkansas, at least not if they have any other offers.

    • Old Trojans never die

You are right. I stayed at a resort in Arkansas one summer and got an ear infection from humidity. Everywhere we went was deserted. It was strange like a post apocalypse scene.

    • gotroy22

Hillary had no other offers 40 years ago?

  • Michael Guarino

Great to see the Rose Bowl rocking with nearly 9000 excited Bruin fans.

    • Jack B

Chip was used to those sell-outs at ORE. It’ll be an adjustment for him. I’m really looking forward to seeing how he’s progressed from one of the most unpopular coaches in the NFL to now. No doubt he’ll wonder why it was so much easier at ORE when nobody had caught on to his scheme.

      • Michael Guarino

Yep. Winning the 2017 Chip is a real mixed blessing.

        • Pudly76

Do you think cal will run the “fake” fake punt, and let the punt returner take, they could fool the bruins?

          • Jack B

Both CAL and ucla look horrible. But the fake directional punt might work on ucla again. That would be too good to be true, though.

          • Pudly76

            Three stooges would do it.

            I REALLY do, Pudly.

          • gotroy22

They did a fake kickoff on them.

          • Pudly76

Yeah, ours worked so well that any coach would be stupid not trying it!

          • gotroy22

They almost broke it but a ruin made the tackle on the 35.

        • RegalTrojan

MG, I really don’t like this hire. Kelly has won in the conference before, and he now has the NFL experience. This is the best hire by sucla in many years. It’s dark clouds over SC football.

          • Michael Guarino

Here’s what I honestly think, RT —- Kelly will not be as overall successful at UCLA as he was at Oregon. He’s gonna win his 9 games every year but never get to the play offs. BUT —-he’s gonna bring hell fire in the USC/UCLA game. Helton needs to upgrade his staff pronto —if he doesn’t, shame on both Helton and Swann.

          • RegalTrojan

MG, neither of us knows exactly what kind of accomplishments Kelly would put up at sucla, but we must think that he’s an improved coach compared to in his days at Oregon because he has the NFL experience under his belt now no matter how it wasn’t so stellar. I’m sure you remember how much people were making fun of Pete Carroll’s initial NFL career. Even though he wasn’t an winner in the NFL, he still utilized that experience in his college coaching career as well as in his much more successful second NFL career. On paper, Kelly makes a considerably better candidate for a college head coach because he has the head coaching experience in college that Carroll didn’t have at the time of his hire at SC. Either of us will turn out to be wrong eventually, but I think this hire has warning signs against us all over it. Helton VS Kelly…which one would you choose, MG? My choice certainly doesn’t have a last name that starts with an H.

          • Michael Guarino

Which coach would I go with? I’d go with the one who had a quarterback with a last name starting with D.
            #PleaseComeBackSam

          • RegalTrojan

LMAO!!! Yeah, Darnold would be quite an asset against the little gutties with their new HC with a facade of Donald Duck next year. But what about years beyond that? Will there be The Coyote and The Roadrunner to steal the show for our team?

            #We’llNeedSomeHelpMG!

          • gotroy22

Sam had to chuckle at the thought that NFL teams actually consider him a first round draft choice after that performance last night.

          • Michael Guarino

Sam is ONE good quarterback coach away from being NFL-ready & knowing what he’s doing. Get the guy the BEST quarterback coach available, Swann. You owe him that much.

          • ItsAllAboutTheBall

I believe Jim Mora had 25 years of NFL Experience on top of what he learned from his dad…How’s that work out?

          • gotroy22

But woefully little experience with doe-eyed college coeds…

          • Michael Guarino

One great thing about those “doe eyed college coeds” —-they seem to have a penchant for falling out of love about one half second after a fella gets fired.

          • RegalTrojan

There’s a huge difference between Mora and Kelly. Mora wasn’t a college head coach anywhere. Kelly? You know the answer, don’t you?

          • Michael Guarino

            I know the answer, RT…

          • Michael Guarino

USC will be fine, RT. (1) I hope this move didn’t catch us by surprise (Mora looked like a dead man walking since the Memphis game) and (2) I hope Swann is as smart as Jack thinks he is —and has been lining up some world class coaching talent for Sam and our offense.
            #BuckUp,MyFriend!

          • AtlDDS

I don’t like it either, but only because I think Mora was so bad it made Helton look good. Kelly 2017 probably won’t be as good as Kelly of 2010, but he may be better than Helton. Just no faith anymore in the Camp Counselor. This season took any confidence I had in Helton completely away….

    • Pudly76

      They must’ve comp’d a lot of tickets.

      • gotroy22

      • Michael Guarino

Yes, of course (they’re always counted in a Rose Bowl game)…..but, this time, it was decided to include the Fox Sports One audience, too.

        • gotroy22

          And Petros of course.

          • Michael Guarino

            How could I forget Petros?

    • USC jojo

Kelly to be the next coach at UCLA.

He told espn he will take the bruin job.

      • Michael Guarino

Should Kelly fear what he’s getting into? To borrow a reply from Homer: “No, he should only fear the Trojan sword passing through him.”

  • Rabb

Why not mention why Baker Mayfield is still a part of the OU program. If he was at any other major program (let’s say USC) he would have been dismissed from the team and no Heismen consideration. It was embarrassing to watch what this kid did on national television and still be allowed to play in this Saturday game.

    • SucKiffin

how about sit him for at least a quarter

      • usc fan

No it deserves a whole game.

    • Jack B

Baker’s a wild, angry guy. Crazy chip on his shoulder.

Already has the Heisman in the bag. That’s weird too.

      • Pudly76

What did you think of rosen running out with the seniors?

        • Jack B

I think he’s gone, for sure. Dude’s a helluva thrower. Could you believe some of those back shoulder throws to Lasley and Howard for TDs? Those passes aren’t even defendable by NFL corners I don’t think. Crazy.

I’m just glad USC beat him twice and roughed him up in the process. I love those strip-sacks the best!

          • Pudly76

Gotta give him credit for throwing a very smooth ball. Looks very catchable for sure, and his placement has been great so far tonight.
I just wonder why he was slamming his helmet on the ground right before halftime, concussion?

          • Jack B

Don’t know why he was a little nuts there. Maybe he was just upset with the grounding call, even thought it was obvious. Or maybe he missed something we all can’t see and he just wants his last game in the RB to be great. Three years goes pretty fast.

He’s throwing so well. It’s mind-boggling to think ucla, and all their talent, couldn’t win with him.

He’s being checked for injury before he comes out for 2nd half, so maybe he hurt his shoulder on that last slam down.

          • Pudly76

Midstream starts second half a qb for ruins!

          • Jack B

New life for the Bears! Hopefully, they will come back and beat the little gutties now. Against Rosen, I don’t think it was doable.

          • Pudly76

            Go bears?
            Beat the ruins.

No, just can’t do it. Can’t they both lose?
Can’t bring myself to root for any team in blue and gold, no matter the shade.

          • Jack B

Lesser of two evils and keeps ucla out of another bowl game.

          • Pasadena Trojan

Sc beat him 3 times. He was on the team last year even though he did not play

          • Don Cooley

I will give him that he is a great thrower. But he is also a great quitter. Don’t think he will make it in the pros.

          • gotroy22

And he’s as fragile as Waterford Crystal.

I am still right, I just don’t know who to feel sorry for, Chip or ucla. This will be a marriage from hell and will cost ucla the 9 mil buyout. Vegas will have a line on how long till ucla gets investigated and get sanctions with Chip doing a Pete Carroll and bailing out.

          • USCDAN1986

      • Jack B

It’s a great splash hire by the bruins and terrific for the Pac-12 image. Not a sure thing by a long shot, no matter what silly Trolls say, but the expectations for a better USC/ucla rivalry going forward just shot up 100%. Good!

Kelly failed super bad in the NFL, but a lot of people still think he’s a college coaching genius. Kelly getting over $4M annually. Great financial deal for bruins here because Kelly still reaping NFL payoff riches.

        • Pudly76

Jack, the only upside he brings is that the conference will have more interest and so more exposure. I’ll stand by my statement that his system is no longer novel and actually no longer innovative.

          • Jack B

I say he’ll be an improvement over Mora. For a school with the low football tradition of ucla, you’ve gotta admit this is a pretty big fish to reel in, though I agree, Kelly won’t duplicate his ORE success at ucla.

I also think the Show Cause Chip hire will light a fire under Helton – which is fantastic! This is just what Helton needed to force his hand if he wants to keep his job. Next moves belong to USC and they have to be made. So this ucla move is good for all involved IMO.

          • Pudly76

First things first, CCG then early signing period then Bowl game, the rest will take care of itself.
As far as coaches go, I have no feeling whatsoever on what’s happening. It’s such a transient profession at the best of times. But after the new rb coach making such a big splash, I believe, as always, change can be good.
I’ve still got to ask myself, how many retread coaches actually work out? Spurrier at So Carolina? Urban at tOSU, Saban at bama, so yeah, there is that possibility, but he’s not that type of power football coach, so we’ll see.

            And Pete, our retread.

          • Pudly76

I meant from one college team to be successful at another..but he’ll do either way!

Never saw so many people get so upset so quickly..they must be wetting themselves they’ laughing so hard on the ruin sites. I used to think Trojans were a tougher group, now many react like…

Will be interesting to see how Kelly hiring affects Helton. Whether he likes it or not, heat is on him now to improve USC and fix staff problems. Hiring in Wimpwood is good for both Trojans and bruins.

    • steveg

It will take Chip a couple of years to get where ucla wants to be, wherever that is. By then the Pac has his offense figured out and the playing field will level. I hope ucla becomes competitive and brings back the fun of close games with USC. But then there needs to be changes in coaching at USC or they will be the same team next year or worse

  • Tebow_Obama

    UCLA outdoes USC…Hires Chip Kelly

    • Pudly76

How many times you going to post the same thing? The moonshine is affecting your short term memory. Stop drinking so early in the am. Hillbilly Troll.

  • Tebow_Obama

Memo to USC…get in the Scott Frost Sweepstakes!

Nevermind USC, you’re not interested in getting better, you’re okay with staying Second Rate

  • UCLA Dynasty

Guess who is the next Bruin coach? Goodnight sccc. We’re about to own you for at least a decade.

    • Tebow_Obama

No, you’re going to owm those Idiots Lynn Swann, Clay Helton and Max Nikias

    • Pudly76

      Never heard that before…

    • Jack B

Typical Troll. Always the big talkers; always the nation’s most underachieving football program.

Can’t wait to watch USC beat ucla again in the Rose Bowl next season. That’ll be win #50 for USC in the rivalry. ucla’s still stuck way back there at lowly 31.

    • trojan_1972

“Dynasty”…hmm…UCLA has been irrelevant in football for 25 years. Completely irrelevant. Iowa is ahead of you in that time. Virginia Tech. Oklahoma State. Wisconsin. Almost half of college football.

It is a .500 program, with a 9-3 season occurring every 7 or 8 years.

      When are your shoplifters back?

  • Tebow_Obama

Clay Helton vs Chip Kelly…BWA HA HA HA HA!

  • Yale O. Leftwich

Good hire for the excitement seekers…he does recruit well, and good at getting the best JC all americans too…expect fireworks and lots of hyperbole…Mora couldn’t coach’em up after his q/b left a few years ago…takes more than just a passer these days…Kelly knows that well…so Helton and Co is in the gauntlet, and the AD too…

    • gotroy22

Remember the excitement when Neuheisel first showed up?

      • Yale O. Leftwich

I remember when they hired Red Sanders too,and Prothro…Rick was a successful coach at Colorado and Washington, and part of Moras early success was Ricks recruits…; there is never a dull moment in football…Chip Kelly dominated Pac12 ,not the top of college football, they lost to the real football teams…fight on.

  • UCLA Dynasty

You can talk bravely but you do know it’s over. Kelly will out coach, out recruit and whip Helton every year. He destroyed his rivals.

    • steveg

You speak in past tense, which is usually all you have anyway. Kelly is no all that but enjoy your “victory”.

      • trojan_1972

Absolutely right – all UCLA has is the past…the long ago past…and that is what Kelly has as well…success in the past, back in 2012 and a failed NFL career.

        • Don Cooley

Don’t forget running from the NCAA.

    • Jack B

Funny to see to a little gutty use the word “bravely” on a USC message board. ucla, the wimps of L.A. football.

USC 49, ucla 31 – Where has all your “bravery” been little gutty?

ucla and Show Cause Chip – desperate partners.
