Who Recruits?

One thing regarding USC’s coaching staff: Whatever happens it needs more recruiters. Right now, Tee Martin, Johnny Nansen, Kenechi Udeze and Deland McCullough are the primary recruiters. That’s only half the staff. You need more than that especially with UCLA putting together a new staff.

  1. Staff changes must be made, the kid fielding punts has gotten worse, that’s coaching.

One would hope that the staff would also get younger.

Will any of this happen, who knows

    • Coaching has nothing to do with the kid fielding the punts, he made those bonehead decisions on his own……once again, low football IQ

      • Yeah, coaches have no influence whatsoever on the players and the decisions they make, especially so early in the season.

Just because a player continually makes the same mistake, never blame a coach for not addressing the issue or not replacing the player.

That would just be low football IQ.

        • I’ll buy that for a dollar(might of overpaid)
What mistake does he continue to make……Mr. High football IQ

    • Bingo!……according to wolf, the kids are lined up waiting to get an offer, now all of a sudden recruiting is an issue. It’s extremely tiresome we have to put up with this garbag from wolf.

If the Daily News had an ounce of integrity, they would of fired this clown years ago.

      • Garage like this…maybe on Dec 15th but the morning after winning Conference Championship? Scottie, you need to write NEW articles when SC WINS and it doesn’t fit your pre-written agenda.

        • According to a source, wolf has been spotted numerous times leaving beefcakes single wide in the early morning hours…….sound like a switch hitter to me

  2. If we don’t land Penei Sewell we’re in deep trouble on the OL. If we do get him, we’re still shorthanded. Who else is there? Not much. We need 4 and might get 2.

      • Not counting Dedich who is a C, we have Douglass. Besides Penei, there are long shots in Junior Angilau and Jackson Carman.

Counting C we need 5. you think we’ll land all 5 of these guys? If you have a name to add, DO SO, don’t just be an a $ $wipe.

        • Why you calling people names? Did I call you names? I thought you might be above such things but evidently not.
Carman has his official either this next weekend or the following, why do you call him a long shot? He’s also said to be bringing a friend. And there is a tackle from Washington state they just offered. Maybe I should give you the full list but then I’d be depriving you of the fun of doing your own homework.

          • A spade is a spade. You are being a jerk with your drive-by BS. You said you were quitting this site. From your responses to me lately, I’d hope you’d stand by that.

Lots of guys visit. Most don’t sign.

A guy who lives 100 miles from a preferred school is clearly most likely to choose that school. You think Urban Meyer will let him get out? Us landing Carman (especially with our line coaching) would be like Meyer
grabbing Jalen Hall — a LONGSHOT!

So you’re saying that Carman, his un-named friend and someone we just offered (who you also can’t name — WSU commit and 8601 composite Cade Beresford) is the future of our OL and you think that will help us play championship football???

We’re offering OLs still (and committed one at that!) because we’re short in the number of recruits we want. Is that too hard to comprehend?

And my concern for getting 5 quality OLs is sheet to you? Well you and gabby can eat my shorts.

          • You poor little thing got his feeling hurt the other day? Aww. Pull your head out. People run the ball at the guard hole to keep the defense honest and hold interior defenders home. If you ever played beyond 5th grade or listened in a meeting you’d figure it out. The pros do it every Sunday. Wonder why? Go pedal meaningless numbers.
Let me ask you smart guy, who threw the blocks on Pittman’s punt return vs f ucla? See if your stats show that. Oh yea, if it don’t show in the stats or get called on the tv, it didn’t happen.
As far as recruiting other areas, how’d we get angholar, Williams, edoga, Gustin, falo, tuipolutu? Your nuts, if it doesn’t fit your little shoebox,it doesn’t exist?

          • Blahblahblah — WTF are you yammering about? You can’t defend yourself on subject so you start throwing snot on the wall.

Agholar, Williams, Edoga, Gustin, Falo, Tuipolutu:

6 OF 1000 RECRUITS = longshot in my book and most other people’s as well.

Take your nasty attitude and go somewhere else.

        • Btw, jackthejiant posted his thanksgiving pic in a SC hoodie, more sure shot than long shot. Nothing being for sure in recruiting.

  3. I can’t believe I’m going to say this.
    SCOTT WOLF IS RIGHT.

Other large programs have 4-5x the number of consultants and or recruiting scouts than we do.. that being said we’ve done pretty well so far.

  4. Yes, more recruiters please! Great players make the coach and program look good. Ask Helton.

  5. Shea Patterson granted release and is free to transfer and play immediately. Among those he’s considering is SC according to the Clarion Ledger dot com report..

    • If a team is placed on probation can you transfer and play immediately? I’m not sure what the rule is on that. He may not have to sit out a year

    • If I was Jim harbaugh, I would do everything in my power to get him to Michigan. It’s the one position keeping harbaugh from being good to being great. That’s why appreciate Sam ,so much, it’s all the difference. Just ask eddy o at LSU

      • I’m not a big harbaugh fan, but you’re right, he should cut out his heart and sauté it lightly with garlic and green onions in a pan of duck fat, if it gets him to Michigan..would turn his offense around in an instant!

  6. An Open Letter to Jack Jones
    Dear Jack,
I, along with many other Trojan fans, have justifiably been very critical of your performance this season. Even though you have tremendous physical skills, you are a mentally weak individual who will more than likely continue to cost USC in the big games. Despite your lackluster performance this season, you continually display a braggadocio attitude on the field, constantly drawing attention to yourself with your “celebrations” after making the most basic football play. Psychologically speaking, you have a textbook case of narcissism, and people like you will never achieve anything of substance. This came to the forefront at the beginning of last year when you proclaimed yourself a “Heisman Candidate” even though you had never taken a snap in major college football. This year you made the statement, “I’m the best corner in college football.” Keep telling yourself that.
You’d of thought that you would have learned a valuable lesson in humility after your horrendous performance against Notre Dame, but instead of taking a step back, and reevaluating your mental outlook, thus making some changes, you doubled down. This was exampled in your performance in the last three regular season games this season when you became a punch line for the defense.
Just when I thought you could not reach a new low, you went a step further with your actions last night. This culminated by getting beat deep, again, at the end of the first half. Then you take yourself out of the game in the 3rd Quarter with some “mysterious injury”. Maybe you were hurt and maybe you weren’t, but I saw some pictures on TOS with you on the stage after the game with pom poms in your hands dancing around. Let me get this straight, you were too “injured” to play in the Pac-12 Title game, but you were o.k. enough to dance on the stage after the game. Again, another glaring example of your narcissism. If you want to see what a real football player/warrior looks like, take a look at #20 for Stanford. Bryce Love played his heart out on basically one leg last night. But the one thing Love has that you lack in abundance is character.
When the season is over I think it is time you take a long, hard, look in the mirror and have a moment of truth with yourself. In today’s vernacular, you are a poser, plain and simple. And you will never be successful being a poser.

    • You are so right, I can’t remember having more respect for an opposing player’s heart and toughness than what I saw from Bryce Love

        • He’s been a M-A-N every game since being injured. I’d love it if they gave him the Heisman —but they’ll give it to the talented, but very flawed Baker Mayfield instead.

          • It’d be great if they didn’t rely on stats alone this time and gave the Heisman to a player who exemplifies character and grit. It would send out a nice message.

          • Stats mean too much these days, and how they’re manipulated to prove anything you want..there’s no stat for heart and it’s what separates the few from the rest..
It was one of the toughest displays I’ve ever seen.. Jack Youngblood? Bryce Love?

          • You couldn’t be more on point, Pudly. Now would be a great time to re-evaluate how this prize is decided. Make the award about THINGS THAT MATTER.

    • Only one small problem with this thoughtful & insightful open letter, SCgrad12 —–Jones, being a narcissist, won’t take it to heart.

    • Could you write one these for Ahweenie Harris too please. I would love to USC buy him out like a bad coach.

    • After 2-years of getting beat on defense and still looking lost, he needs to realize DB is not the position for him. He will not get drafted as a DB and will likely get cut on a practice squad in the NFL. Jack needs to try playing offense to save what opportunity he still has to play in the NFL.

    • Dear Gomer
Act like a real coach and discipline your hood rats. Act like that without Sam to bail you at the end … See Ya

  7. Nebraska AD calling their recruits, telling them Frost is a done deal as coach and has his staff in place .. reported by B Feldman

    • I’m pretty sure USC would get flagged for an NCAA violation if an AD called recruits before a coach was hired. This is just an assumption seeing as how EVERYONE, including the pac 12 and beat writer hates USC.

  8. Three famous words, “USC Recruits Itself”, Scot Wolf, 1989,1990-2017, used at least once every year. This should be in Wikipedia.

  9. Scooter, if u were listening to Coach Helton on the radio after the game, he said he is going out tomorrow to recruit. But then u don’t give us an objective report but a report that is doom and gloom

  10. And you might even lose Tee. They definitely need recruiters. But USC recruits itself so I wouldn’t bring in coaches who are just recruiters but can’t coach.

  11. That victory last night was worth at least 4 – 5 unsolicited recruits w.o. a recruiter walking into a home. Who wouldn’t want to be part of a 11 – 2 team with a chance to snag one more victory 4 weeks hence?

Helton needs to hire a disciplinarian for the squad and I believe he knows that.

Man OK looks solid – that group of 6 talking heads 2 weeks ago this past Wednesday picked OK 4 – 2 with Auburn and OH St. getting the other two votes.

  12. T bone is looking for a new job … anywhere
    Nansen new drugs to sell
Mac hoping Tbone gets a new job and becomes an idiot DC

  13. Helton needs to recruit position coaches that know what the h**l they are doing. And that means saying goodbye to a certain O-line & DB coach.
