Did I say that? I don’t think I did . What I inferred is that I don’t believe Helton has the skill set to consistently play at the level that Sabin, Meyer, Fisher et. al. do on a consistent basis and I state that directly to the lack of preparation prior to the WA St. game even understanding the 6 days from the game at Cal. Jones value wasn’t utilized until after the WA St. game same with the wide receive Pittman. Teams learn game after game what works and what doesn’t but I still don’t see Helton understanding it is the small things – behavior, unanimity, focus – that give the edge to the better coached teams. It’s not in his mind set might be in an assistant he hires buy not in him.
I agree the younger Helton would be forever cast in his brothers shadow if he didn’t make this move, total win-win for all involved especially those sideline AD’ who wanted him gone so bad. The worst part of losing him is his input during game planning but I don’t recognize it as a crucial loss with a month or so to go.
