Here is the 1955 Rose Bowl between USC and Ohio State. That is “Jaguar” Jon Arnett, one of the great running backs in school history, and end Leon Clark, an all-Pacific Coast Conference pick who led the Trojans in receiving in 1954 and 1955.

Meaning hotdog vendors such as yourself and other relatives will be skrewduh.
Ed enjoys chasing parked cars when he’s not selling hotdogs
Ed enjoys catching the parked cars more than the chase
Ed, is it true you ruins are naming Lisa Bloom Alumnus of the Year?

I have often wondered what a facemask penalty looked like in this era. However my parents used to sing the praises of Jon Arnett.
I think the 1956 season saw intro of face masks, that is when I got mine, 1 single bar
The ’55 Rose ‘mud’ Bowl…Heisman winner Howard’hopalong’Cassidy was the big Buckeye ,SC Best back and the scorer of their only touchdown…Aramis Dandoy…a really good back that kept JonArnett on the bench on this 1954 SC team…it was a good team but UCLA under Red Sanders was the powerhouse PCC team that year, but rules stated no repeat bowl game…dumb rule…
That was the time red Saunders was having an affair and he dies when he is with the girl
HE was 54 and 10 and an original…ucla was nothing special before him.
Red Sanders, of course, not John Wooden, was the original “Wizard of Westwood.” He was also a kind of Paul Bryant before there ever was a “Bear.” In fact, Bryant had been Sanders’ first line coach at Vanderbilt and, in 1955, the only time they ever played each other, Sanders’ Bruins shut out Bryant’s young Texas A&M team, 21-0 at the Coliseum. I learned words like “juggernaut” from sports-section accounts of Bruin games…
Like Nelson Rockefeller!
Jon Arnett was a cool guy. Got to meet him after a Ram’s game about 1960.i was a kid and he was very nice. Married at the time to a beautiful woman. I remember that at @ 12 years old. She was a fox!!
1954 was the best year in the history of ruin football. They shared the FWAA, UPI, AP tile with Ohio St. .The streak goes on, 63 years and counting.
