Mick Haley Lawyers Up Vs. USC

USC women’s volleyball coach Mick Haley has hired an attorney and believes he is a victim of age discrimination.

“He believes he was terminated not only because of his age, but in retaliation for him filing an age-discrimination complaint with USC, which he did before they fired him,” attorney Chris Ludmer told Volleyballmag.com.

Haley was also critical of USC senior women’s administrator Donna Heinel. It looks like this will not be an amicable departure. Full story here

In case there’s any one interested, Amon-Ra St Brown needs one td catch to tie and two to set the state td record.

    • Jack B

I think we have St. Brown, no?

Rollo has sent so many players to SC – like Matt Leinart and Matt Grootegoed? I’ll never forget Groots against Long Beach Poly. Crazy!

      • Pudly76

I sat next to his father and brothers that game. Crazy bunch..he had a bum ankle and they were going crazy thinking the poly guys were going after it.. he had some great runs that game as the tailback..was averaging 10 yds a carry, and was terrific on defense…played almost every minute.

The St Browns play everything very close to the vest, but it would surprise at this point if he went elsewhere. Could chocolate chip kelly make a play for him? Who knows, they father is a former body builder and their is no telling how he directs his son.. he changed “their” name from Brown to St Brown because of the recognition value.

        • Jack B

Weirdness. I’m sure we’ll come up with other great WRs if he chooses elsewhere. All I want for Xmas is about 5-6 great 0-liners, 2-3 CBs and 3-4 LBs. Without that, I don’t care what our ranking is. USC has problems to fix. Will be crucial to see that CH takes care of business here, and now.

          • Pudly76

Jack I’ll settle for four GREAT o-linemen. If I’m right we’ll do that. Linebacker seems set, though Solo won’t declare until either the Army AA Game or Feb signing day..I’m very hopeful we’ll get the db’s we want and if that’s the case this will be the best class in 20 yrs, but that’s a BIG if.

          • Jack B

I don’t think we’re gonna get this OL dude from Ohio, do you? Seems like we have a very remote chance.

          • Pudly76

Actually I’m really liking our chance with this guy, he gets along very well with Dedich our center commit and especially if there’s something going on with Sewell who added us back into the mix at the last minute. I’m always a homer anyway so I’ll just call it..Carman will be ours, hell I’ve got a 50/50 chance anyway

          • Gabby

Thanks for the gumballs! More info than we get from the guy who sits around in his skivies in his basement apt

          • Jack B

Wow! You are a homer! I think I read somewhere we had a 15% chance for him per the so-called experts. We really need some great ones like this so bad. It’s been what’s holding us back big-time IMO.

          • Pudly76

Don’t believe 24/7 their predictions are based on how each writer votes and of course there are more back east than out here… they had Levi jones to FSU or Fla last year and said we had no chance, even on signing day..

          • Jack B

Good to know. The recruiting services were better about 15 years ago as I remember. There seemed to be more of an attempt at least to not be as biased. I also think the colleges could co-operate more but then the NCAA clamped down.

          • Pudly76

It’s like a lot of things too much competition drives these people to make their own news. To get interviews they promote these kids higher and higher, and most of these guys haven’t played a sport since junior high..one guy still brags about his junior high basketball days as point guard, if you can believe it, and he’s rating prospects at the d1 level. Ha!

          • Jack B

It’s like what’s behind the screen? Oh, it’s the wizard! Lots of agendas, like you say. Lots of follow the leader. Too much superfluous info and not enough meaningful facts or opinions. Just a bunch of click bait, regurgitated fluff. Never any meaningful negative info which will have a huge impact on overall eval. I don’t subscribe to a thing anymore. Just get commit reports from Bleachers and emails from friends who still follow recruiting.

Now, we all can see tape of anyone and make up our own minds, even though highlight tape can be very deceiving. There’s always the workout warriors too who look strong in drills or combines but don’t play nearly as well in the action.

          • steveg

These “experts” are all the same.

          • Pudly76

Yeah, I’ve never subscribed. Just don’t buy the notion that these guys are selling you anything but excitement. I follow some of the bigger names on social media, but you can never tell for sure what’ll happen. Can’t wait for the first lawsuit over a commit whose coach got fired or quit after early signing day and he wants out of his LOI..that’s gonna be the next big thing

          • steveg

You sound like a prophet, I think you are right.

          • Jack B

These kids and parents have been warned ad nauseum about the fully binding nature of these LOIs, regardless of coaching departures. I’m not sure why they have a leg to stand on as long as their parents signed too, if under 18.

          • Pudly76

Yeah and when has that stopped anyone from suing? Sorry if I’m a cynic, I can’t help it.

        • Jack B

Groots was pure football. Basic instinct. I went to Anaheim stadium to see D.J. Williams and De La Salle take on Mater Dei and the guy who stole the show was Groots. Always in the right place at the right time.

          • Pudly76

Was there for that too..used to go to all MD home games as I’m a graduate.. great games they played in those days. Kenyon Rambo was another great poly player, went to Ohio st..great times

          • Jack B

Actually, I think Willie McGinest was the best Poly player I ever saw. He was so large and physical – just like this big helicopter who was roving around, picking off the enemy. Amazing to see what some of these greats could do even as kids.

          • Pudly76

That’s why I love football especially hs and college, in SoCal we get spoiled.

          • Pudly76

            He just commit!!

          • Pasadena Trojan

            Who just commit?

          • Pudly76

That was a mistake based on somebody’s tweet..just some kids joking around..sorry

          • Pasadena Trojan

Did you see Gene Washington play?

          • Pasadena Trojan

Is the father another head case like Ball?

    • Sas

I knew I wasn’t gonna stay awake to watch it all. When Rollinson gave a quick interview going to halftime I fell out, but did end up getting it?

ANY recruiting updates from the weekend so far? For what it’s worth I checked a minute ago and noticed a CB from Friday for Carman to SC.

      • Pudly76

Hi Sam I couldn’t stay up either, it’s been a bad weekend for us here.. anyway, Solomon Enis 4* wr and Abdul Malik McClain 4* DE both showed up as well as one of the top juco DT’s. Heard Helton flew to Indiana tonight to visit inhome with rb Markese Stepp, who visited this week..Jaden Woodbey went to FSU yesterday.

        • Sas

Helton is working hard. As for Woodbey I would be surprised if he went to FSU to play for a coach who just left his old team after 1 quick season. Also, I haven’t looked yet but I imagine there will be an early signing period show on ESPN or ESPNU.

          • Pudly76

            Believe that.

          • Sas

Jaiden Woodbey made an official visit to both USC and Florida State this weekend.
            Maybe Thursday to Sunday.

          • Sas

Justin Dedich was there working on Jackson Carman. I was hoping he would come along. So hopefully they had down in the practice field at McKay Center taking snaps and having a ball.

          • Pudly76

They were together with Helton at the Coli wearing their matching Army All-American shirts. Carman looked HUGE next to Helton and Dedich…

          • Sas

            That’s cool!
And Dedich is a good looking Center so that’s impressive.

          • Pudly76

You havin a man crush Sam?
No, seriously though, Dedich is a tough guy, but next to Carman he looks like he’s just a kid

          • Pudly76

@jackthejiant is the twitter address, you’ll see it there

          • Pudly76

Woodbey will sign on the 20th at 5:30 pm, hope we’ve got him.

          • Sas

FSU is his dream school so I think there is a possibility he could go elsewhere. And the fact that he left Los Angeles for Tallahassee instead of the other way around is just another way if saying he’s serious about his options. I’m sure Helton told sure take a visit, but we want you!!!

          • Pudly76

He spent all summer at SC not FSU, so it doesn’t bother as much as OSU.. he seems close to Carman too, they talk a lot on social media.. so he might be an indicator of where Jackson’s going

          • Sas

I’m glad you told me that because my best buddy has also said that and now i feel.better about our chances because I didn’t know if my friend was exaggerating. I think in the end we may hear the role Dedich and Woodbey or even Carman played pitching in to make this class what it is.

      • Pudly76

RB M Salahudin decommits from Trojans, thought two would be too many.

        • Sas

If they are gonna go after another RB I think it would mean we look in good shape and/or he’s a better back. Helton had to have ran to the plane and so on.

  • CORTEZ THE KILLER

Just accuse him of sexual harassment

  • rusoviet

The fool is 74 years old – last NC was (what?) 2003. This suit is a joke as a counter claim could be made he’s an over weight white male whose blocking the promotion of a: (take your pick) minority, female, blah blah blah

Oh yeah note his ‘de rigeur’ femin@si attire = pink tie and the ribbon pin.

    • Grammymb

The picture was probably taken in October. Think about it. Duh

      • rusoviet

You mean October 2016 before the election at a desperation rally no one came to for Hillary?

    • Pasadena Trojan

How about reverse discrimination where they promote black women over a more qualified white fat guy?

      • rusoviet

Unless there is a specific clause in his previous contract stipulating age will not be grounds for termination where’s the case? He’s had a long ride for a coach in any sport +17 years. It’s a joke he even filed this.

  • JustOwns

Once again bozo u puts a cap in its foot – Somethings never change!

    • Pasadena Trojan

Squatter, for a moment I thought you were changing your ways and started to be nice. I guess some just enjoy rolling in their own vomit.

      • gotroy22

        He never will.

  • 04Trojan

This sounds like a fun one.

  • Trojan5

Anyone have news about how the recruiting visits are going?

  • timmay

He said he went to the AD two or three years ago when he started having issues with the Sr. Women’s AD, and that it was settled then to get rid of him???? Oh Pat Haden… You’re tenure keeps giving. lool

    • Pudly76

Really? Three yr plan to off the coach? Really, do we really do that?

  • Jack B

Great to see the bruins just bending over while USC is improving itself and moving on from HOF coaches.

    • USCDAN1986

True, They will settle and he will be on his way!

      • Jack B

Since when are we obligated to keep 74-yr old HOF coaches on the payroll when they can’t get into the championship game anymore and apparently, a lot of our players leave the program?

  • USCDAN1986

Carman commits to USC via his twitter acct! 7 mins ago!

    • steveg

      Anyone reporting it?

      • USCDAN1986

I am looking to see if 247 is now. It seems another commit is about ready to announce as well.. A rb!

      • Pudly76

        No. He’s denied it.

    • Pudly76

      He’s denied it.

  • Jack B

Anyone watching Phillip Rivers tonight against KC? Worst QB performance ever. If I didn’t know better, I’d say he threw the game and should have his bank account checked.

    • Pudly76

      Hahaha

    • Pudly76

Never thought much of Rivers in games that matter. This one was for control of the division and he came through again!!

      All bark, no bite.

  • Pudly76

9:32 left in the first qtr, MD 7-0 over DLS, Daniels to St Brown!

    • Jack B

Go Rollo! What a career. And the only guy alive with a more gravelly voice than Ed O.

  • Pudly76

With 5:32 left in the first MD 14-0, after they recover a fumble at DLS 43, then convert a 4th down. Daniels sneaks it in.

  • Pudly76

This one might get ugly in a hurry as MD recovers fumbled punt snap and has ball on the DSL 23.

  • Pudly76

This will be the last post for this game unless it drastically changes, MD up 21-0 in the first qtr.

    • steveg

MD totally outclassing DLS on both sides.

    • Jack B

Just tell us if Brown sets the Calif WR record. It would look good in the USC media guide.

      • Pudly76

Tied it with the first td. Will let you know if he breaks the record.

        • Jack B

I’ve gotta believe Rollo would go for this record. It’s a pretty big notch in the Mater Dei belt. But what do I know? Maybe Brown won’t even get in for the 4th Q.

          • Pudly76

            Believe you’re right about it.

      • Pudly76

Sorry for my mistake he set the OC record with 45 tds

  • Old Trojans never die

I really don’t think this is age discrimination. But may have been for muddying the water for the program. Coaching contracts are ended all of the time. The athletic director wants the best for the school. He can argue that this is what drove the firing. Unless the exit interview included a statement about age, there is no case.

  • Pudly76

MD 21-7 DLS scores after MD fumble on short run.

  • Pudly76

2:14 left in the half 31-7 MD

  • Pudly76

Final MD 52-21 over a sloppy DLS team who just made too many turnovers. Congrats to Rollo and the Monarchs!!! Heard rumors of his possible retirement earlier this year, might he want to go out on top?

  • Pudly76

M Salahudin decommits from the Trojans. Does it mean we’re all in on Stepp? Seemed like with the backs we have two backs would be too many.

  • gotroy22

Owns, gray stool and Kissy86er hardest hit!

  • Pudly76

Just like Ted Bundy (married with children) and his four touchdowns in one game!!! Hahaha!
Dedich is the real thing..pancake maker.

    • Sas

      It’s all i have Peg!
He’s had the most impressive pancakes on video I’ve seen this year.

      • Pudly76

As I sit back in my chair and relax, then slip my hand into my panty…and smile?

        He and Peneii Sewell

        • Sas

That was a man show, but I loved it as a kid.

Sewell’s (From what I gather) father is on board with SC. Is he close with the DE from Utah that’s headed to Bama?
And also…Oregon/Ohio State recruiting insiders are huge homers. I thought Notre Dame was bad.

          • Pudly76

Hoping he made friends at the Nike Opening with Carman and Dedich as they played together on the same side of the line.. and hopefully his parents enjoyed our poly family

          • Sas

Me too. I hope they’re personalities meshed and it wasn’t just football.
