• Michael Guarino

Pete had a nice run. It’s officially over. I guess there are those who’ll take great joy in that. But some good can from his historic defeat today —Clay Helton needs to give Pete a call tomorrow and ask what he did differently in preparation for this Rams Game. And Clay has to stay the hell away from whatever that is.

    • gotroy22

Will he be available next year?

      • Michael Guarino

The team he’s coaching was built to win the Super Bowl —-the 2016 Super Bowl. He shot his wad, ran into salary cap problems and now fields the worst o-line in pro football. Why he didn’t get out while the getting was good is a mystery.
Luckily, I think he’s too smart to completely annihilate his image by attempting a return to college football at 67 or 68 years of age.

  • Jack B

Smith-Schuster wins game for Steelers over Patriots! Kid can play like a mutha. Only 28 secs left for Brady now.

    • Chris

      A little too soon.

      • Jack B

You could say that again! They’ll be talking about this Steelers give-away at home for years.

        • Chris

Who knows what a catch is anymore? I thought he had total control and tried to reach out past goal line. But my vote doesn’t count.

          • Jack B

It was a tough call IMO. If he crossed the plane before the ball touches the ground, the TD should stand IMO. Just a bang, bang play. One of the toughest losses I’ve ever seen.

But Smith-Schuster’s long, weaving gallup towards the EZ was still a thing of wonder. He just has a knack I believe,

          • Chris

For sure. He had many of those for us. Turned normal crossing routes into something huge. And he is so physical, not something you usually say about a receiver. Fits the Steeler mold.

          • Jack B

Great example of a perfect fit for a team even though they were already absolutely loaded at WR. Just goes to show, people can make it happen in spite of the seeming obvious.

This USC team we have on our hands also seems to fight well through tough spots, except for that ND fiasco. I think the Trojans fixed some problems since South Bend and we’re a tough-minded bunch.

          • Jethro G Sabbath

It was a monumental call. The NFL rule on a catch requires the player to maintain possession all the way to the ground and it didn’t look like he did that even though the ball broke the plane before that.
I don’t think the rule makes complete sense but they got it right based on how it’s written.
I say this and I am no fan of NE.

  • SCgrad12

This is exactly what Seattle and P.C. deserve. When the faces of your team are a couple of loud mouth social justice warriors, who are more worried about pushing a BS agenda, than winning games this what happens. Have a nice off season, maybe you can meet at one another’s house and kneel for the National Anthem once a week.

    • Jack B

I think the party is over for Seattle. Without Russell Wilson, they’re shot. Pete ignored fundamental rules of football like having a good OL, and this is what you get – killed.

      • SCgrad12

Jack, when you have a cancer on a team, Michael Bennett, who is one of your supposed team leaders, your entire organization is in trouble.

        • Jack B

I don’t know much about Bennett, actually. Don’t pay attention.

But I do know Seattle can’t run for diddly squat and Wilson has to run around like a chicken with his head cut off on every single play. All of his plays are scrambles of some sort.

The Seattle crowd tasted some home-fed disgust today they haven’t experienced before. Sometimes, things aren’t as bad as they look. In Pete’s case, I think they are.

        • Michael Guarino

Ladies and gentlemen of Seattle —I give you an entire organization in trouble: your Seattle Sea Hawks.

      • StokaNoka

When their Oline became less a priority than TE, that’s when they stopped being elite. Defense can only take you so far, but with injuries to most of that side of the ball, that’s what you get. They’re still a good team, don’t understand why people are saying it’s over for Petey tho other than his age. He’s been arguably the 2nd best coach in the league of this decade.

        • Jack B

Maybe. But I thought ND’s beatdown of USC was the worst trampling of a team I saw this season until I saw the Rams go up on Seattle 40-0.

I don’t think I’d call this a good Seahawk team and doubt they make the playoffs. Pete’s had a good to great run. He should have won 2 Super Bowls.

But I wonder if he has the answers or the salary cap space to fix his problems. Sooner or later, everyone runs out of gas. The L.A. Rams just moved out the old and brought in the new. What a difference! Pete was looking like a coach who hadn’t seen the train coming today. But I hope you are right.

      • Grammymb

Yes. The O line gave up a lot of points today.

    • Michael Guarino

You just don’t get it, SCgrad12. Seattle has the second best pregame protest formation in the NFL (right behind the 49ers). Only narrow minded fans would expect them to concentrate on football games. I’m sure I speak for all Seattle fans when I say winning and/or giving your best on the field is not important….
      #…AndNeitherIsDoingSomethingReal….
      #….LikeGivingHalfYourPaycheckToOutOfWorkParents…
      #…EmptyGestureIsWayToGo

      • SCgrad12

I know. I guess it’s my White Privilege. Its tough being a multi million dollar athlete expected to play on Sundays when you’re a full time social justice warrior. Maybe Pete can fly in Melissa Harris-Perry to have a team meeting where the players can go to their Safe Spaces so they won’t be triggered by the opposition.

        • Jack B

It’s a thin line between success and failure. Funny how certain problems become so suddenly obvious.

        • Michael Guarino

Ha! [Melissa Harris-Perry would be a huge step up from Michael Bennett].

    • StokaNoka

You think that’s the reason they aren’t as good this season? They lost their other 5 games by avg of 5pts. All of their best players on D are hurt cept Thomas. They laid an egg this game, but so did many other teams this year. Remember the Pats against the Chiefs? And seems like your grudge against their players’ protests is getting in the way of actually watching the games.

      • Jack B

It’s the O that’s killing Seattle. Teams up their game as the POs come and teams are all on Wilson like a cheap suit. I think Seattle has uncorrectable talent problems on offense. Their own D undoubtedly realizes this, which never helps.

        • Pasadena Trojan

I heard the same thing on the radio. Seattle has not drafted for offense and oline, so now they are hurting there.

          • Jack B

Commentators have been dissing PC’s OL all season and yesterday was a brutal example of Russell Wilson using his incredible skill just to stay upright. It was the worst performance I’ve ever seen by a PC team. They’re not even a PO team in my mind.

Of course, maybe the Rams are just that good. Whatever the case, there’s been a changing of the guard out west. Will be interesting to see if PC can battle back.

      • SCgrad12

B.S. At this point in the season everyone is banged up. They’re losing games because they’re too damn worried about crap they shouldn’t be worried about. You don’t see the patriots losing close games do you.

        • Jack B

Agree…but the Pats should have lost a close one today to the Steelers. You could say the refs took it away, but either way, there was some real Pat Luck hanging in the air in Pittsburg today.

        • Michael Guarino

Guess what, SCgrad12? The worst person in the entire world to fix Seattle’s problem is Pete Carroll. He’d never tell players they are in the wrong. It’s Pete’s one big weakness. He’s in the locker room right now telling them he’s proud of their activism —-because he doesn’t have the guts to be honest and tell them there are numerous better ways of fighting for justice than organizing pregame protests. He’s what you call a false friend. He’s the guy who won’t tell you you’re barking up the wrong tree.

          • SCgrad12

Maybe P.C. can bring back Fredo Corleone, Yogi Roth, and Rocky Seto. That will solve the problem.

          • Jack B

Pete was more into saving L.A. than he was USC football when he put out the smoke signals to whisk him into the NFL.

          • SCgrad12

How many NCs did it cost USC?

          • Jack B

We’ll never know but we can’t complain. He won something like 34 straight and two NCs. He also owned ucla and ND like they were newborns looking for a blankie.

          • Michael Guarino

IF Pete himself survives the year, that would be the perfect staff with which to greet 2018….if they’d wanna come aboard his sinking ship, that is.
[And it would spare us Roth’s podcast].

          • SucKiffin

or maybe Pete’s boy Sarky , who he conned the Falcons into hiring a ruined their season

          • Jethro G Sabbath

All of a sudden Pete Carroll doesn’t know how to motivate a football team?

          • Jack B

All of the sudden Pete doesn’t know it all starts in the trenches.

          • Jethro G Sabbath

I would agree that is a bigger obstacle for the Seahawks right now.

          • SCgrad12

Hey Jethro, when you’ve got 3rd and 20 and you give up a first down on a basic dive play, that tells me your team has quit.

          • Jethro G Sabbath

I saw the first three quarters and the Rams dominated them in every facet of the game on their field. It was a complete beatdown but I didn’t sense the Seahawks quit.

          • Grammymb

3rd and 20 and they gave up a touchdown.

          • SCgrad12

Worse yet. This is a tell tale sign of what this organization is about. Remember last week when they started a bunch of crap in the closing seconds against Tennessee? It was the same B.S. behavior they pulled when Pete pissed away the Super Bowl against the Patriots. All this crap started with the National Anthem protests. Pete, the G.M., or the owner should’ve put their foot down and put an end to this crap the second it started. But they didn’t, and they’ve basically pissed away a season.

          • gotroy22

Some morons think that isn’t quitting.

          • Michael Guarino

What Pete knows (which is a hell of a lot) doesn’t have any application to the situation he finds himself in. NO WAY IN A MILLION YEARS he could have anticipated politics taking over the locker room in 2017. His whole coaching philosophy is based on “finding a way to connect with the players in order to get more than they even know they have to give.” Up til this year, that formula was magic. But now he finds himself in the middle of a political movement that his coaching philosophy leaves him ill equipped to handle. 6 weeks ago when he said he stood with his players against any attempts to abridge their first amendment rights, he took the path of least resistance and ceded control of his team. He needed to come up with a way of communicating support for the team and it’s social concerns without jeopardizing the team itself. And he didn’t do that. And now he gets to live with the results.

          • gotroy22

That concept is over that shameless rah rah’s pay grade.

          • gotroy22

Pete is an Obama loving lib like the rest of the kneelers on his team.

          • rusoviet

Mike I had no idea of the ‘progressive’ nonsense PC has allowed w. the Seahawks – saw this today – from cns dot news

‘Seattle Seahawk Players Account for More than Half of NFL’s Anthem Protesters in Week 15

While 12 players of the National Football League’s (NFL) Seattle Seahawks protested during the National Anthem, most teams with
protesters had only one in Week 15.’

Article cites the Seahawks with 12! Yeah Pete’s ego has trapped him again – when permissiveness is the new ‘diktat’ then you have it’s ‘changeling’ chaos!

        • StokaNoka

And you know this how? Pete messed up the last game by going for a fake kick, don’t think that’s the players “worrying” about things other than football. And to say “everyone gets banged up”, tell me a team which is missing 4 pro bowlers, two of them all pro… on one side of the ball.

          • SCgrad12

It’s the NFL. Nobody cares how many guys you have hurt. To go out and get smoked at home by 35 stinks.

          • StokaNoka

My comment refers to you saying they’re playing bad because they’re “worried” about things more than football. The teams strength has always been defense. When all your best players are hurt on that side, you’re gonna play bad. It’s simple.

          • Michael Guarino

Good point, StokaNoka. Seattle is missing the heart of their defense. But Pete’s present problems go deeper than this—-I think the way Seattle’s talented back ups played today tells us that.

          • gotroy22

Gee Goollly Noiid did you ever think all the other teams with less depth that SC also have injuries? Stick to what you know, like Starr Warrs. trivia.

          • StokaNoka

And I see you’re sticking to your stalking goboy. Not even gonna ask why you can only muster something as lame as Star Wars insults but hey, that “golly” guy must really keep you up at night. Obsession equals depression old man

          • gotroy22

And I see you are still too lazy to get another sock puppet after being outed once again. Stupidity+ Laziness+ Mental Illness+ Stalking Wolf = Golllly Noiiid.

          • StokaNoka

Your equation might be correct cuz I don’t know who your friend is, but you must be made for each other cuz you perfectly fit that bill. Keep hitting copy and paste with your lame Star Wars comments since you must’ve stopped producing original thoughts a long time ago. Looks like your social security is all but history now due to your saviors tax plan, oh well you support whos intelligence you can relate to

          • gotroy22

Sure you don’t, Gooooolly Noiiddd. You just mysteriously appeared the moment your two prior sock puppets were outed after they stupidly answered for one another when they were trying to run Michael off the board.

          • StokaNoka

Mysteriously appeared? You crack me tf up. Tin foil hat on extra tight again. I’m guessing you’re talking about MichaelG, which is funny cuz I never responded to any of his comments until this post we’re currently on. Some paranoid freaks never get on track, but I’m pulling for you, with ur baseless idiotic comments and sworn allegiance to defend stupidity.

          • gotroy22

You crack me up Gollly Noiiid. I can’t imagine what a loser you are to devote your life to stalking a Daily News sports writer.

          • StokaNoka

Well since it’s all a part of your imagination anyway, sky’s the limit. But sure, I know it makes you feel super smart thinking people are out here making new profiles just for you to try and “out” them. And the hilarity of you gushing over every new account that doesn’t agree with your feeble minded opinions. Deuces dbag

          • gotroy22

Is “profiles” what you call your sock puppets? How cute.

          • gotroy22

And Golllllyyy Noiiiid wouldn’t have lost 325 Starrr Warrss costummme contesssts in a row except for injuries.

          • StokaNoka

Rainman, having a stroke on his keyboard again I see

          • gotroy22

Poor Gollly Noiidds latest sock puppet is outed.

          • StokaNoka

Keep dreamin for your partner Scarlett, I’m sure he’ll show up at your doorstep one day.

          • gotroy22

Keep dreaming that one day you will finally win a Starrrr W arrrss costumme conntest, Golllly Noidddd.

      • gotroy22

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gollllly NOiiid the knee jerk lib must defend his SJW Seahawks!

        • StokaNoka

Keep hoping your long lost lover will show up, must have the crush of a lifetime for that golly fella

          • gotroy22

You keep hoping to win a Starrr Warrrs costumme contesst but after 325 losses it doesn’t look likely, Golllly Noiddd.

    • Lunderful

I like your thinking and am now an official follower.

  • JustOwns

    Rams 42 – Sadhawks 7. What a hoot!!!

Maybe Little Petey could use a shot of barfly.

    • Jack B

Pete Carroll owned you little ucla like nobodies business and beat you up 8 X with only 1 loss. Maybe you little gutties should quit kneeling down when Pete comes on the field. Pete had no respect for ucla, kind of like me.

    • Pasadena Trojan

      Squatter,
How is Cheetin’ Kelly and Mora doing? We know Mora won’t get the Seattle job. He will be lucky to get a janitor’s job, just like yours.

    • Linkster

how many former HC at ucla are employed now? Yeah that is what I thought.

  • Julio

Haha, this seems like a pretty bitter post. I’m guessing the blogger doesn’t like PC too much.

    • rusoviet

Well based on the follow-ons I’d say he isn’t lacking company ‘but’ I wouldn’t say we’ve seen the last of the SEA Seahawks with PC as head coach.

  • LamontRaymond

There he is, back with the Caesar.. for those who thought he never tried to stick it to Pete while he was here, Caesar was his way of doing it… So no, Clay is not special as the object of Scottie’s derision. (And no, national championships mean nothing to Scottie….)

  • SucKiffin

He won his Super Bowl … who cares now

  • Yale O. Leftwich

Like at SC 8-9 yrs is a long time as a head coach these days…time is up….; he made some bad choices back then at the end and now this 8-9 yrs, same thing….

  • ItsAllAboutTheBall

No Offensive Line and Injuries on Defense. Unlike Alabama playing Mercer, an disadvantage like that is impossible to overcome. Russell Wilson is Seattle’s Sam Darnold, without him ????
