Ricky Town To Pitt

Remember quarterback Ricky Town, who wisely left USC a week after Sam Darnold arrived? He then went to Arkansas and then Ventura College. Town committed to Pitt today, following in the footsteps of Max Browne.

Where’s Ricky Town? Where’s Ricky Town?

    • Michael Guarino

Haven’t you heard, gt? He’s “following in the footsteps of Max Browne.”

      • Sas

I hope. Hope. I hope Ricky can win the starting job and end his football career with a bright spot. He’s had a rollercoaster football career and it would be nice to see him go out on some kind of positive story.

        • Michael Guarino

That would be very cool, Sam. No harm in him seeing that he couldn’t win a competition with Sam Darnold. Maybe, after the jumping around, he’s ready to show what he’s got.

          • Sas

I know he’s heard “Darnold was that good to run you off in just a few days?” everywhere since he’s left so I would think he’s driven to show he can play QB and be successful for a team that has a big enough stage.

          • Michael Guarino

Yep, Sam. That’s probably just what he’s heard. Now, it’s time to shut all those people up.

          Sam nicely said! !

  • Terry Kesner

Mitch Mustain part deux! What a stiff!

  • Chris

SW, the only guy who takes great joy in a kid like Town having to bounce around a little bit to find his way. How about “hey good news, town found his way back to a D1 school”?

  • Ted

Once a trOJan always a trOJan!

    • CORTEZ THE KILLER

Do the have any sunglasses left in Lithuania?

      • Gabby

No, but they have numerous coaching vacancies

    • Linkster

Once Charlie Bucket, now Ted, Fred, Chaz, Miguelito etc. boy are you a bore.

      • Pete

        Charlie Phuket is back?

        • Linkster

Yeah Ted is Charlie. He has used at least a dozen handles in the last 5 years. Must be pretty insecure about who he is and who he supports (UCLA and HRC – his “Queen”)

          • 04Trojan

No way. Never agreed with that. Ted is just an unfunny turd. Bucket at least has some wit to him, for whatever that’s worth. bruin rob is the scum of the earth with his Danelo stick figure drawing. I think we’re talking 3 different ucla bums right there.

          • Michael Guarino

The guy who does the stick figure is lower than pond scum. Anybody who thinks that’s funny disassociated from the human race a long time ago.

          • 04Trojan

Thankfully I haven’t seen it in a long time. I don’t care if you’re pro ucla or SC, or whatever, in no way shape or form is that lame-a$$ stick figure drawing funny or creative. bruin rob sucks big time.

          • Michael Guarino

I’m with you on that, 04!

        • 04Trojan

          (Brutus Beefcake)

      • Gabby

……and still a ranking member of the toilet-crew

    • USCDAN1986

      6-6 vs 11-2 .. Yep better being a Trojan than a ruin!

      • Michael Guarino

…and yet 6-6 is a big step up from last year’s record.

  • CORTEZ THE KILLER

Another ” top rated ” QB BUST

    • Gabby

Must of been one of your former players

  • Pete

Too many punters and kickers on scholarships. Two less 4-5 stars they could have.

    • Sas

I agree. And one thing that’s been swept under the rug since the Notre Dame game has been the performance of John Baxter and our special teams. I don’t think they were significant in making or breaking our season but he has stepped over to the side of Pendergast, Bradford and Callaway this season. That’s backwards.

      • Pudly76

        And maybe too many centers?

        • Sas

          Right now……..

I want Dedich in there before Brett Neilon or Come Smith.
Remember them? I usually forget about them. But I do realize it’s a tough position. I love that Dedich and Carman would be here in January.

          • Pudly76

Too many centers…but Dedich is a keeper

        • 04Trojan

I thought I read somewhere that if Toa decides to stay, which I think he should, he’ll slide into center.

          • Pudly76

I read that too and I think your right.. it’s why I say too many centers.

      • Pete

Sam,Should be hearing soon about what QB coming in for 2018….Stay Tuned.

        • USCDAN1986

What are we currently 30th with 11-12 commits ?

          • Pete

            Something like that

        • Sas

So you think it’s the kid who’s going on his Mormon mission?

  • Arturo

Wishing him nothing but the best and all the success in the world.

  • Sas

New USC Commit RB Markese Stepp…….”Well y’all I’ve found HOME & FAITH & FAMILY at USC!”

    That’s awesome!
    FIGHT ON✌

    • rusoviet

Well done Clay Helton – never said you were/are a bad recruiter – that seems to be your strongest skill set – well done!

      • Sas

        Good man Alv!!!

        • rusoviet

I mean it Mike – seriously – he loves to recruit and he knows how to ‘abc’ (Glengarry Glen Ross) – the man has no match – grabbing a star running back from a Catholic HS in Indianapolis from Notre Dame – unbelievable!

          • Sas

This is Sam here, but I agree. He has always been a very effective recruiter because the players believe in what he is selling and it doesn’t come off as fake. And taking a kid from Notre Dame and the Big10 is always nice!

          • peter

Deland effect. .Now he will be coached by one of the best RB coaches in football. You know Deland knows him inside and out.

          • Sas

            Yep.
4star kids who drop from the big time programs vision in they’re respected area’s usually have a chip on they’re shoulders and he looks like a kid Ohio State or Wisconsin would normally take.

          • rusoviet

Yup and here’s hoping Darnold stays one more year CLE has both the 1st and 5th pick in the first round and DeShone Kizer is proof he left 1 year too early from notre dame – then again can’t blame anyone wanting to get away from Kelly.

Kizer has 25 turnovers through game 14 and the season ain’t over yet.

          • Sas

He better because that’s no man’s land.

Also, PLEASE KEEP DARNOLD AWAY FROM THE chargers!!!!!!!

          • rusoviet

You could say the latter re. 18 other squads right now aside from the LAC. If Kroenke hadn’t the common sense to sack Fisher same per the LAR.

Phillip Rivers is an average QB that had a remarkable second half until his own self-imposed implosion last Saturday @ KC. Lynn is a good coach.

Rams look legit and I’m no fan of theirs but they looked solid yesterday.

          • LamontRaymond

Doesn’t come as fake because it’s not fake. That was Sark’s biggest problem. Fake as they come.

          • Sas

            I won’t argue that.

          • Cloud Shaman

They know he puts the kids first.

  • Jack B

Who knows? Had it not been for Sam Darnold, Town could have happily rode the pine at USC, gotten a great education, a terrific degree and avoided traipsing countrywide to prove the inevitable.

  • Old Trojans never die

One thing USC hasn’t done very often is stop an unhappy player from moving on to another opportunity. So I am with those who wish the kid well.
It was most likely a good move for this student, but he could have been valuable at another position. We will never know.

  • hoohoolianFUCLA

Anyone think we lose anyone to transfer ?

Dominic Davis, Cole Smith, Jacob Daniel, Tilbey or Brown?

  • LamontRaymond

He should coach one day – he’s apparently a supreme evaluator of talent, at least at the quarterback position.

  • Yale O. Leftwich

Max did little there, got beat out again,I think he was a freshman or sophomore.Max a high school all everything, got his degree for free….no college loans to pay off,no NFL salary for him .

  • Porfirio666

Congrats to Ricky for buying his time and finally landing at a major conference team. Paciencia!
