Come on wolf!……….Where is all the inside info on the “early signing day”?

    (My bad, wrong blog)

    • trojan_1972

The Daily News should put Pudly, and the other guys who post here with recruiting insights, on the payroll.

      • Pudly76

        Hahahaha

        • Michael Guarino

Well, Pudly —–trojan_1972 has opened the door. Next step: preliminary negotiations.
          #ProudToRepresentYou
          #Is1MillionAYearGoodStartingPoint?

      • Michael Guarino

I’m very okay with that suggestion. I’m just wondering if the idealistic Pudly we all know and love would accept remuneration.

        • Pudly76

          I worth twice that!

          • Michael Guarino

            Yes! See below!

          • peter

            Let’s get to it! !
What is the word about Carmen?
Is Stepp the RB we want.? (I trust RB coach )

          • Pudly76

I think Stepp is “the” guy, yes. His size is something we’ve lacked since Lendale. And I’m all in on Carman, but I’m a homer, and what I don’t know would fill the oceans. I believe he’ll wear Cardinal and Gold.

          • peter

Do we have a scholarships available count? Or do we have to wait until who declares for draft?
By the way I think McCulloch is lead recruiter on Carman

          • Pudly76

Without knowing early entrants and transfers we can’t have a count and speculation wouldn’t help. Most sites are using an average number between 18-22, which wouldn’t include blue shirts etc.

          • peter

            What you think?
            4-5 OL
            4-5 LB
            3-4DL
            4-5 DB
            1 RB
            QB if Sam leaves( backup)
            3-WR
            TE-?

          • Pudly76

I wish I could read the minds of the coaches as I sit hear in the comfort of my patio and know what the coaches are thinking. I don’t though.
I do know that about a year ago this week a young man named Nathan Smith 6’6” 285, was injured and was at the time ahead of Chuma at right tackle, so there’s the possibility he returns, then there’s true freshmen Austin Jackson and Alijah Vera-Tucker both of whom I think will play. Vera-Tucker was also hurt. Didn’t even mention guys like Frank Martin or Jalen MacKenzie who are both very young still.
            So I say 4 O-linemen
            1 RB
4-5 LB ( jeez that would give us a ton )
            3-4 DT
            2 DE
            5 DB’s ( both safeties and corners)
I haven’t heard a whisper on any QBs coming in, wouldn’t be surprised that they find one though if Sam leaves.

          • peter

            WR ?

          • Pudly76

Would hate to think we’d take more than 3, and 1 hybrid TE?

          • Pudly76

There seems to be a real emphasis on the defensive line by Helton, and the offensive line, if there is a best case, will be outstanding..but we’re are talking about kids here, so anything might and usually does happen.

          • peter

            I like coaching approach
Although not sure about who we are able to sign on OL.

            Heck look at LB WOW
CB and S class could be exceptional

          • peter

My friend I don’t believe you are the cause of Ocean rise..
            Little climate change joke

          • Pudly76

            Stepp commits!!

          • peter

Thanks…just stepped out of movie to Stepp.!
Gotta love Deland. He may be top RB coach in football.

          • Gabby

I saw the final score, no surprise. Rollinson was 0-4 against DLS, looks like he got the monkey off his back. The epic game would be 2016 BG vs 2017 MD……. How did Daniels look and did St. Brown get the record…..thanks

          • Pudly76

Daniels completed 66% of his passes in a brisk wind on a cold night.. I should also mention that I have called him less than mobile, and this year he has proven me wrong…I misread then mislead on St Brown, he set only the OC TD mark.

          • Gabby

Would you say, he’s more Darnold than Barkley?
            Thanks for the info

          • Pudly76

Far and away. It’s been said at Mater Dei that he was held back by Rollo, to prevent injuries, but this year he’s had multiple runs over 30 yds, some for tds, or they might have been longer against some of the best teams in the country…and in his sophomore season, when they kept him in the pocket more, he was only -4 yds in sacks while throwing for over 60 tds. I’ve really changed my outlook of him.

          • Gabby

…..and he’s only a Jr…..WOW!……..I just got a tingly feeling think about this guy. I hope he avoids any major injuries and doesn’t waiver from his commitment to USC

          • Pudly76

Easy, big boy, or don’t you remember the Max’s?

          • Gabby

I have been accused of having selective memory, so says my wife…….LOL!

    • peter

We did get real inside. W said we will sign 5-6.Coach H said 8 or so.Wolf has more insight than Clay.
W sights Floyd and Corral decommitting Well Floyd is a 2019 class recruit. And Corral, well we all know about him.
What the signing really does is give those that will be early enrollees time to get their paper work done and in well before classes in Feb.

  • hoohoolianFUCLA

Clay Helton is made a lot of home visits after Cotton Bowl practices last week.

So what are the body counts?

How many guys will sign early and who are they?
How many guys can we really expect to sign considering we have 10 SRs and 10 commits, now that Salahuddin has dropped?

  • ItsAllAboutTheBall

As I mentioned a few days ago, the early signing period benefits the Big Ten as it occurs before their annual Bowl Whippings are fresh in the minds of the recruits. No surprise that Meyer is in favor and Saban against.

  • steveg

I see this dual signing period getting tweaked to perhaps different dates. Doesn’t matter what happens, someone is going to bitch about it. The answer is to add a full time recruiter or just deal with it.

    • Michael Guarino

Congrats, steveg. You’ve just hit on a solution to the “what- do- we- do -with -President Max Nikias?” dilemma.

  • Pudly76

Pro Football Focus names Rojo 1st team ALL-AMERICAN!! CONGRATS!

    • Jack B

He didn’t make any of the recognized teams though.

Does this mean RoJo gets a spot on the Trojan Wall, along with average players like Zach Banner and Chad Wheeler, when much more deserving guys like JuJu Smith-Schuster get left off? Probably. Ironically, these instant website AA teams can really distort USC’s permanent on campus recognition of its own best players.

      • Pudly76

I mostly agree with you Jack, but before we judge the websites, it would help to know who it is that’s voting. AP are sportswriters like wolf, and even though the AP has been around, does having wolf’s vote give it more legitimacy thanks say former players and coaches?

        • Jack B

All I know is Banner and Wheeler were named AAs by one of these instant website teams and they obviously weren’t real AAs in the eyes of long-standing organizations and well-informed fans.

I’m happy for Rojo. But anybody can make up their own AA team, put a label on it, publish it and voila! – your favorite player suddenly becomes an AA, even though he’s basically just a starter.

Why don’t you and I get together and start America’s AAs. We could undoubtedly put an entire 1st and 2nd team together in a day, throw in a few relative unknowns to distinguish ourselves as insiders and boom – we’ve got clicks!

          • Pudly76

We could choose over a couple margaritas, as my intuitive level increases with consumption of a cool beverage.

          • Jack B

Things go downhill fast after 2 martinis. One’s not enough and 2 is too much, right? We better have a heavy dinner to make sure we give it our most coherent shot!

          • Pudly76

As always Jack, you’ve hit the nail on the head!

  • Jack B

Early signing is good. They should just move up the date about a month so that it doesn’t conflict with bowls and create undue pressure for schools to lock in kids. It should just be for prospects who are totally dialed in to a certain school and just want to get off the merry-go-round. These are the types who are gonna sign with a school regardless of a coaching change or bowl performance.

    • Pudly76

Funny how little nicky hasn’t even started bowl practice till this week and he’s crying..urban and Coach Helton have been practicing all week.

      • Jack B

Yet so many people were complaining that Helton didn’t set up a rigorous enough practice schedule.

        • Pudly76

Or that he looked tired and upset his brother was gone? Sometimes people read too much into body language..and sometimes their right on..either way he earned his money this week.

          • Jack B

I’m sure Helton is tired as hell. All these coaches are and I’m sure this Dec 20 date is gonna be changed because anyone can see based on these coaches schedules that this artificial player grab date has created a bizarre and unduly hard workload at season’s end. JMHO.

    • Pudly76

Running back commits to Trojans. Marketers Stepp commits!,

  • Globehead

I think the biggest obstacle for De’Gabriel Floyd signing next week is that he’s not eligible to sign until next December.

    • Pudly76

Hahahaha, concise and to the point.

  • Gabby

Dear USC coaching staff, please find us two lockdown CB’s

    Thanks
    Gabby

Breaking news as Stepp commits to SC!!!
