USC usually closes strong so maybe it doesn’t matter that it is currently ranked No. 39 by Rivals. But with 10 commitments, it might sign only 10 more players. That could be why some decommitments occur too. Remember last year, there were 5-6 decommitments as USC dropped players.
OK WW using same service Rivals. Usc is tied for first in star Average.
Believing we will finish with or above that Avg, little doubt it will be another top 5 overall, maybe top 3 stars.
Coaches are being very mindful concerning team needs.
This sounds like a “I’m trying real hard to come up with material” post.
Exactly….same old s**t just a different pile
Wait there’s days this doesn’t happen?
What a crap post by SW.
Imagine if he were in charge of USC’s recruiting and what we’d be stuck with year after year. The USC coaches work their arses off, literally day and night, to refine their recruiting focus on the right available targets and win battles against the other elite programs nationwide. SW has no idea all that goes into it.
Ucla just picked up a verbal from Bo Calvert…Seems he was always on the fence with Matt Corral deco’ing from USC.
Glad he switched now instead of later. Hopefully, USC was onto this possibility and we’ve been working all along to fill the gap with someone better. He looks like a good but not great player to me on film.
Agree.. Between the 20th and 2-1 they must have better options.. Wish em well.
Exactly. These coaches are doing a hell of a job. I can’t wait until recruiting is over and we see the fruits of their labor. It’s going to be a good class.
Because wolf never puts anything into his work.

Alabama went from, like #29 to #9 in about a week. We all knew Alabama wasn’t going to finish outside the Top 5. SC is the same. We will fly up the rankings when we start filling our open slots after the bowl game. Scotty is just trying to appear on top of recruiting and make it seem like there are alarm bells to sound.
He probably got the scoop on McClain from Pudleys post earlier.
You DON’T want to be ND, which historically has 24 recruits committed by, like, August, and then sits there while everybody picks away at them up until signing day.
Ranking should be based on Star average and team need, not number of “commits”
The true rating should be the final recruit average, which right now USC has a high average. The quantity skews the ranking for sure.
Size of class is always over-valued in recruiting, but the recruiting services are geared to reward huge classes. If you only need 15, and you fill those needs well, that’s all that matters – not your rank.
It doesn’t matter if all 25 scholarships are 5 star guys if the coaches don’t improve or coach up the players. Granted, it’s a lot easier to win with talented players and no talent coaches than it is to win with no talent players and no talent coaches.
It helps if the so-called 5-star guys are really 5-star guys and not 2-3-stars like some of USC’s players who were obviously way over-rated or constantly too hurt to play.
Not every player can be coached-up, regardless of the staff, which is why players transfer, quit the game, ride the pine, or play in mop-up or special teams if necessary.
Beau Calvert to sign with ucla, does this open a spot for McClain? I think it just might …….or not
With a second signing period this is more like the early enrollment group that always starts in January. After the bowl then things swing to a more serious nature, and times get even more exciting. Staff changes will make an impact also so fasten your seatbelt.
Even Clay said today that he had no idea how many were leaving, so we won’t know how many we take till around the middle of Jan. Interested to see who enrolls early.
Is it me or does anyone else sense USC is not recruiting itself quite like it used to.
The WR leaving is not a surprise since we have Brown coming and the all the 4-5 star young WRs we already have. The RB is pissed we took the kid from Indiana. The new kid is heavier and I heard is faster than Mychale. Bo leaving is the only shocker. We will Still have the top LB class in the nation. And we might steal the top safety in the nation from Ohio State.
Steve, I’m not sure why you’re worried. Check out where bama is. Ilb, safety, corner, wr, center, guard, tackle. Do you realize that we have a very real chance to get the #1 at all these positions!! That’s right,#1. Now do we get all of them, nobody knows, but not many are included as possible destinations for these kids.
Relax, we always close late.
Word on the street that Bo was always a little overrated. I guess we will see when he suits up against us.
