It’s A Small World

The above rendering is for a $300 million residential/commercial project on Figueroa St. across from the soccer stadium being built on the former site of the Sports Arena.

But the interesting part was who gets quoted for the company, Ventus Group.

“The Fig will serve as a multigenerational staple in the overall fabric of the USC/Exposition Park submarket of LA by creating more housing and providing neighborhood-serving hospitality, office and retail destinations,” said John David Booty of Ventus Group.

It’s a small world after all.

  1. As long as it doesn’t interrupt business at Figueroa Philly, best cheesesteaks in Los Angeles, west of the Mississippi really

      • Have ’em clean up the corner of W 41st St. and Figueroa where Gabby stays, she has that place a mess. The street sweeper won’t even pass by her corner.

      • So you’re claiming these bozo Apt’s will have indoor plumbing instead of communal holes.

I’m curious Gomer, what portion of LA population will wish to reside in, essentially, a gussied up urban ghetto? No doubt you’re on the waiting to rent an Apt. list?

    • Southern Cal news group (Scott’s Boss) Just announced major layoffs coming . Fingers crossed Scott. Maybe a little more balanced journalism could help the cause.

      • Scott’s averaging over 50 responses per post and when things slow down, he just throws up another picture of Trader Joe’s and you bozos come flocking like pigeons after a popcorn truck overturns on Fig.
He’s is keeping that rag afloat (kind of like how Sam Darnold was keeping SoCal football afloat)

        • 50 responses from 6-10 people which 1 of them is probably him. The money must be flowing.
          #fakenews

        • Imagine how the rah rahs will scream if the Daily News fires the Blogger to cut costs and has Thuc Nhi Nguyen do both blogs (badly)?

  2. That looks pretty cool. Really cleaning up the area. Much different than the late 80’s when I was there 🙂 Good for JDB!

  3. ‘If’ any development goes south of MLK THAT would be incredible! This stops at MLK in addition if there was any development off 39th St. east of the Harbor Frwy (I-110) that too would be incredible.

Remarkable what has happened ni downtown LA in the past 25 years truly remarkable – none of us who remember – back in the day – would have ever thought this was possible but there it is.

You’re right the quote by John David Booty – he was a 3rd stringer for the Vikings some 12 years ago then I heard he was trying to switch to MLB as a pitcher.

    • rusoviet, True Trojan Football Enthusiasts fondly remember the TWO Rose Bowl Victories John David won for our Trojans. The first on Jan 1, 2OO7, beating a Big Ten Michigan Team handsomely. The second on Jan 1, 2008, crushing the Univ of illinois. John David was 9-0 against TOP 25 Teams and was voted PAC10 Quarterback of the Year in 2006. John David had to wait three seasons before he got his starting assignment. FIGHT ON, SUPER SUCCESSFUL USC QB !!!

        • That was bad, but he shouldn’t have been in the game. His finger was almost unusable. We should have put Sanchez in for the 4th qrtr and we win that game and eventually the NC.

          • For me, outside of the Vince Young TD, that moment ranks near the top for disappointments. We should of had a comfortable lead that late in the game.

          • Yes, when Booty hurt his finger our O went in the toilet. He couldn’t throw accurately. If we pop Sanchez in there we probably win the NC that year.

        • Actually 2 Interceptions. UCLA in 2006 and Stanford in 2007 that ruined 2 BCS Title Appearances

        • Gabby, John David broke the thumb in his throwing hand the second quarter of the game. Are you paying attention, Gabby ? Coach Carroll knew about the break at half time from an x-ray in the locker room. Coach Carroll let John David play the entire 2nd half with a broken “throwing hand.” John David didn’t throw i interception in the 2nd half. He threw 4. Gabby, you damn John David’s contribution to his Trojan Team ignoring the fact Coach Carroll blew the game by not benching John David for the second half. I believe Gabby that deep down where you live, you are a nonathletic uncoordinated lad who has never thrown a football or any other round element. You assured us that the Stanford Game interception was one of the most devastating disappointments of your life. You should be told that your insane condemnation of John David Booty leaves me disappointed in you, Gabby, a contributor on SW’s Blog who I once felt I could believe.

          • I’m talking about the 2006 loss to the ruins. You should be told that your insane condemnation of my opinion leaves me disappointed in you, 47, a contributor on SW’s Blog who I once felt I could believe. Thanks for all the kind words.

PS…Sounds like still have a hard on for Booty
            ..

      • Yeah well he also had that very memorable thumb and the infamous loss, in 2007, to Stanford. I always thought he was a very average qb who was surrounded by truly incredible athletes at every position with the best coaching staff in the country. He was assayed properly by the NFL – practice squad.

  4. $300 million dollar project.. Thats not bad. Its great to see the areas growth and future path its taking.. Gotta cool $90 million for an equity stake ?.. JD has done well. ✌

  5. When I read his name(Booty) a flashback happened. The INT he threw against the ruins that cost us the game and a trip back to the National Champion game

  6. Scooter, what is wrong with you? You did not report that the old Kentucky Fried Chicken joint, the parking lot, and the two to four units are being torn down. Go interview the people and get their reaction to all of this.

  7. Reality is rich as sin developers will soak the city for unwarranted tax concessions claiming it is the only way to make this project economically feasible while touting it as a benefit to the community. ” Multigenerational staple in the fabric of the community ” , that is hilarious. Another shakedown indeed
