USC did not get any commitments over the weekend from its official visits, but that was expected as prospects wait to make other visits. One question going forward is whether running backs coach Deland McCullough’s departure will affect recruiting. I’ve heard at least one recruit is waiting to see who USC hires.
Today is also the deadline to declare for the NFL Draft. USC’s underclassmen have pretty much announced their intentions but if anyone has a change of heart, today is the day.
You forgot they can undeclare also. If they haven’t signed with an agent.
They supposedly have 72 hours to rescind their declaration from the time they made it is what I read in the ncaa by laws.,. but then its the ncaa, who knows.
I bet Gomer is on a flight to W. Kentucky to interview some people for jobs
Unless Deland was recruiting a DB or OL what difference would it make to those positions who his replacement is. I have heard from an nfl scout that nobody is to worried who is hired.
The next RBC will determine if USC is in play for a 5 star running back from the south on signing day.. There are 3 names floating.. 2 RBC from the college ranks and 1 from the nfl. The nfl RBC has ties to.USC.. And no, its not Jack Del Rio or anyone from WKU.
So, float the names
Waiting to confirm.. KP was the NFL mention…The others Im still trying to find out.. I thought tho KP was a USC no rehire curious if they have worked something out.
Does it ever end, another Kiffen remnant to come coach. KP is a USC guy but some fresh blood would be nice. If they hire him oh well, and if they don’t, no biggy.
Pola is not coming back to USC
KPs name came up, I know he is a no rehire as is Sark and Kiff.
Imagine Del Rio coaching running backs, how funny. There is no 5* RB not already signed to bring to USC.
Stepp is our guy signed.I’m sure he is waiting like every one to see who’s coach.
Unless we are to flip a RB ,no uncommited is in play. Should be clearer this week how many spots we have open. It’s likely in the 8-12 range.3 solids,2 silent. So we are probably looking at 3-6 that are uncertain at this time.
Deland leaving unfortunate, yet not a strain on recruiting this year. We didn’t hire Deland until March last year.
They are talking two rbs this class, at least that’s the scuttle butt.
No.. Its a flip…I have no idea who it is..
Can’t be a 5*, they all signed loi.
247 has him as a 4 star other sites are 4 and 5..
People are stating to laugh you……just saying
Good..
Your credibility is shot to holly hell.
We shall see.. ..
There are a couple high 4* out there though, and depending on who writes about them they sometimes all them 5*. Sorta like Hufanga.
JDR still on board?
Was he ever?
LOL, ya according to USCDAN. I am holding my breath. It has been 3 days, starting to turn blue.
The JDR rumor is laughable. I don’t want to bad mouth the guy, but the story reeks of BS
3 years ago
Did he get an interview, I can’t recall?
I think I read where he didn’t, said he would have jumped at the chance.
Yep!
RB is not exactly a position of need
He’s listed as a APB-RB.. Hearing grad transfers possible too at multiple positions
there are a few top 50 JC players still unsigned…
Getting JC kids into USC now isn’t like it was back in the day, most of the credits don’t transfer, thank Sample & Nikias for that
I recall reading that several yrs ago, mostly in the Phys Ed area, which SC used to turn out into the high schools, good recruiting tool; but some made it and getting the best of them for 2 yrs,in their Jr and Sr yrs works for many top teams…used to be an SC regular pipeline…I’d go after 4-6 every year.
No way you want 4-6 JC players a year, I’d say go after one or 2 for positions of need ( OL !!! )
OJ was a transfer and I think Swann was too.
Swann came straight out of HS.
Serra HS in San Mateo. Barry Bonds & Tom Brady also went there. Jim Fregosi and Gregg Jefferies also–these 2 may be a bit obscure for most folks
Stupid me, don’t know what I was thinking. Thanks Jack.
nope I’d like a linebacker corner/safety a DL an OL right from JUCO All American…that is what I’d do…Bama does it, Ohio St does it…just look at their JUCO recruiting…McKay built the “62 team from the JC ranks…we just see it different…they are proven/mature and upper classmen, not rookies who leave after sophomore year.
I see a 3* OG uncommitted and a 4* OT that is an LSU commit unsigned. Maybe a flip?
depends on if you look at 247 or espn, they rate them a little different, but there are some good ones still out there.
Maybe some grad transfers will emerge too..
There’s a Ohio St transfer. OT. was a 3/4*…..Is that where we really want to go? A one year player, competing against the young ones? A Stud starter yes, other than that recruit the 2019 class. Identify a project 2018.
Curious to see Mackenzie development
May need a couple to buy some time to get the younger up to speed.
What a remarkably even-handed & professional post! Who hacked Scottie’s account??
If Helton can bring in a Bradford & Callaway in thinking that is going to fly, what is going to stop him from bringing in more losers like that? Let’s face it, Helton can’t attract the better coaches!
He brought in BKU and Deland McCullough too, didn’t he? There’s always hope he finds the right guy again.
Helton is stubborn. Not saying it’s right or wrong.
He likes coaches he knows well.Like in Deland he didn’t know him did search and came up with gem. So it’s in him, if he chooses. We will have to do same again for RB.For the 10th coach Colbert will probably get a position. I think that will get critical responses. He was the one player Pete Carroll said was a born coach. There won’t be any other changes unless someone “chooses ” to leave. Clay will sink or swim with those he’s loyal to.
Personally I hope Helton listens to the chatter for changing his approach to coaching preparation and technique. He hears it and knows it’s there.
As a fan for nearly 60 years each year is important to me.
I don’t subscribe to trashing staff.
Yea, piling on isn’t my style either..here’s to hoping we have a great season this next year.
“OLA” Hawaiian for health,my friend.
Some seem to enjoy it a lot, it is the only thing they write about.
David Keeling, Pay attention to Pudly76’s factual comment and learn from it, before Spouting Off. Verdad ?
rinse and repeat. and repeat. I think we all know how you feel. Got anything constructive for a change? You used to post good stuff on here till you went and caught Helton derangement syndrome.
I would be totally fine bringing kennedy p back as running backs coach, if a better coach couldn’t be found. He was in over his head as o coordinator, but a respected backs coach and good recruiter
