USC Adds Kicker

Alex Stadthaus, a kicker from Austin, Texas, is joining the program as a preferred walk-on. Maybe USC needs some insurance as Michael Brown returns from knee surgery.

  1. Had he been coming in on scholarship, we’d need some heads examined at the McKay Center. Good sign though that Helton is trying to cover every base since we already have 4 kickers on rides I believe.

  2. Hey wolf, when are you gonna post the infamous comments Kiffin made about Alshon Jeffery?

    • Is he pumping gas some place? Seems like both Jeffery and Kiffin have done quite well since those days.

    • Stadthaus is rated a five-star kicker via the Khol’s Kicking rankings and No. 16 overall. He is also rated a four-star punter.

        • Alicia Artola on RoT reports Khol’s Kicking rated him a 4.5-star punter and says, “…he could come in and compete for kickoff duty straight away. Per Kohl’s,
he finished second in kickoffs at the 2017 Texas December Showcase.”

  3. For those with HBO, the St Brown’s will be featured for a bit on HBO’s “Real Sports”. I believe it begins at 7:00 pm.

  4. It looks with this pick up Micheal brown is going to be a grey shirt. Which will give us a one of those scholies we’re asking about. Great pick up because he doesn’t cost anything. If turns out to be as good as khol’s kicking ratings say then next yr he’s worth a scholarship. I think they’re bringing him first as a punter but obviously will look at kicking.

    • Have you looked over that 2014 USC Trojans football roster you said was depleted of players due to NCAA sanctions yet?

      41 players?

      LOL!

      • It was the Las Vegas bowl that would be 2013 roster bone head. But like I said, your like CNN throw around truths to narrate your delusional false bloviating points of view. I gave you two journalists, dates, and sites. But oh yea I forgot Gary Klein of the La Times and Ben Kercheval of Bleacher Report or liars and idiots with the rest of the insane world that you call rah rah fans.

    • I never figured out why these kickers can’t do both. Teams used to have tryouts for kickoff kickers who were not that accurate but could kick it really long. Ahh, the good old days when things were simple.

      • irish killer Anthony Davis used to also kick off for USC. How bizarre was that? He absolutely ruined Notre Dame on returns and could also kick it to the end zone. They don’t make ’em like that anymore.

        • It doesn’t take a lot of talent to kick off, just a really strong leg. I’ve even seen O linemen that can clear the end zone.

          • Name me a star running back in college who’s doing it. Not happening.

Sure, any strong, good athlete could get off an occasional good kick. But there would also be a lot of shanks and 25 yders which you never saw with Davis, who had the longest legs I’ve ever seen for a guy his size (probably only 5-8, 5-9 max).

I went to USC when Anthony was there. He was truly one of a kind, and not just with his leg, but also in the way he dressed and drove around in flashy Cads with bizarre feathery hats – totally full of himself and independent in a remarkable way.

      • irish killer Anthony Davis used to also kick off for USC. How bizarre was that? He absolutely ruined Notre Dame on returns and could also kick it to the end zone. They don’t make ’em like that anymore.

  5. What USC needs to find are some balls for the Board of Trustees so that they can get up the nerve to kick this Max Nikias idiot to the curb.

  6. Scooter, you have not reported the 6 game winning streak the men have in basketball. What the heck is wrong with you? You should be building up the team by your positive writing on how USC has righted the ship since all of the problems from earlier in the season. You sir are no journalist.

  7. In other news, the USC Trojans will be bounced from the NCAA tournament by the second round.

As usual Andy Enfield has been trying to please all the players by instituting his over used substitution tactic which in turn doesn’t allow the players to settle into a groove. That kind of tactic can work against mediocre competition in conference play, but it doesn’t work against quality non conference opponents.

But hey, at least the the Trojans basketball team can say they made a playoff, which is more than the football program that is run by a second rate coach can say.

    Better luck next year.

  8. The one thing Clay Helton has a clue on is his decision to recruit numerous punters/kickers, even he knows that his offense being run by a first year starting QB while being coached up by a no name QB coach with himself being a second rate head coach won’t be doing much when it comes to moving the ball.

Clay Helton knows he will break last years record of most 3 and outs in a season. Good looking out, Clay.

    LOL!

  9. Someone clued Clay Helton in on the fact that Helton has been neglecting the recruitment of offensive linemen and that Neil Callaway is still the offensive line coach so Clay Helton said he’s going to get one step ahead of expectation and recruit more punters.

    LMFAO!

  10. Since Clay Helton isn’t going to hire a legit strength and conditioning coach for the Trojans players then Clay needs to hold more of his all you can eat Friday night player/family meet & greet buffets in order to try and bulk up his players.

    • Yes, but they still have to wear nursery colors, call themselves “bRuins” and have to pass emasculation classes to graduate. Those after a Uclown English Lit. degree won’t need to have ever heard of William Shakespeare. (Fact, not a cheap drive-by lie — go ahead, look it up)

LMAO — a football player with an English Lit major! Imagine this introduction before a game “Now kneeling for the Nation Anthem, De’Mustafa’a Abdul-Scmendrick: English Lit.”

      • But the good news for ruin fans is the ruins can’t flunk out with the new SJW major they offer to all the football and basketball players.

        • What are the odds that some SJW prof will require athletes to kneel for the National Anthem at all games. Chalk.

          • Speaking of that:

THIS WAS MERELY A MATTER OF TIME.

ESPN Host Max Kellerman : Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish Mascot Is Offensive, Needs to Change.

ESPN morphed into MSNBC so quickly, it was impossible not to notice.

          • Max is smart —-but if you look into those wild eyes of his as he blathers on about issues which are slightly over his head, you know immediately something’s not quite right….

          • That was raised years ago and faded away.

Cleveland is succumbing to pressures regarding Chief Whoever.

          • Funny, I don’t know anyone that watches the talking heads on espn. Games yes, but like most of us we learned there just isn’t that much to say, and then they throw in politics and ideology.

        • Please tell me this isn’t true. Of course, we have Social Justice minors in Education and a couple of other departments so we’re not far behind.

        • Please tell me this isn’t true. Of course, we have Social Justice minors in Education and a couple of other departments so we’re not far behind.

    • UCLA is filling up their late signing day class with a bunch of 3 star recruits, and a few 2 star guys they took from Oregon State and UNLV. IMO, this is Chip Kelly arrogance. “I can win with any recruit because I am magical Chip.”
I really think this philosophy backfires on Kelly. Bobby Knight was the same way at the very end of his career. He thought he could win with anyone just because he was Bobby Knight.
It doesn’t work that way. Arrogance personified.

      • Maybe, but he may just be creating building blocks on specific needs. One block doesn’t overwhelm ya but together it’s a brick house. Why do I say this one it’s a little late in the game for this recruiting cycle. Second I believe in the process and that’s what Helton is doing.

      • I agree. And not to sound to “homer” like but ucla’s class doesn’t look to impressive to me.

        • He got a bit of a late start. Before we dismiss him, I would wait to see what next years class looks like

          • Also, before I buy into Shoe Cause Choc Chip post NFL flopperoo career, I want to see what his team looks like now that everyone knows his offense backwards and forwards.

          • I think he is a world class P _ _ __K and hope he fails miserably. He equates being college a football coach with being important. He is condescending to the press and is also dismissive of the fans. Without both, college football is nothing and blow hard coaches don’t get to earn crazy big $..

          • And no coach has EVER been able to fix the loser ucla football culture. That’s always the narrative about underachieving ucla. And now Kelly will have to produce in Los Angeles as the team that is always second fiddle to the USC monster across town.

When Kelly was big in the Northwest, UW, WSU and ORE ST were all crap. He got to be top dog. ucla will never be top dog in L.A. Will be fun to watch Kelly in that environment, especially when the L.A. press takes the gloves off.

          • Ya, as soon as the sanctions were over Idiot Freddy, USC started hammering ucla and ORE again with ease. You had to bring in Show Cause Choc Chip to try to stop the carnage.

Too bad Kelly’s so rotund and fat and can’t take care of himself. I think that’s why Donut Dan loves him.

I bet you’re really fat too. Now it all makes sense.

          • I think you’re right. Not sure if he really wants another shot at the NFL, though. And ucla has never been viewed as a stepping stone job to other colleges. Interesting times for college football in L.A.

      • I am no Chip Kelly fan and hope he fails miserably. But do not underestimate him. He can coach. Unlike the NFL, he can control players much more easily at the college level. Do not take him lightly–I guarantee none of the other coaches in the PAC12 are

  11. I know why we need more kickers. We treat them like crud. They win the Rose Bowl one week and the next they are expelled for maybe being seen abusing a girl friend. No due process, just ruin the kid’s future based on eye witness hearsay.

    • This problem is at most colleges. It started with Title IX and has morphed into a “guilty until proven innocent” type of witch hunt.

  12. Brilliant, Wolfman.

    You are the king…..

  13. Anyone checked on the blogger? Awfully quiet today. You don’t suppose he’s making phone calls and following up leads?

    • I highly doubt it. My sources tell me he was last seen leaving the local Dunkin Donuts last night carrying numerous boxes. I think it might be the usual donut hangover.

  14. We could stop now and it would be a great class. The remaining guys out there we’re looking at would be great, but if they don’t come, we will have schollies there to go after grad transfers and/or sign a larger class in 2019 (when we hopefully can pull in premiere linemen). I don’t think we need to cave like Chip Kelly and start yanking in the riff raff nobody else wanted just to get bodies in.

      • Curious, the corporation that owns this blog going through heavy restructuring. First day in quite sometime that fresh threads haven’t come up.In past when WW didn’t blog ,there was someone who did at daily news.

        • Wolf’s gotta be shaking in his boots. I don’t think he has anything he can submit as a writing sample that isn’t loaded with typos and factual errors!

He’s gone, gone, never be coming back, he’s gone..

          • “The wider L.A. environment tells that story. Just this week, DFM’s Los Angeles News Group acknowledged that it would lay off more newsroom positions, following last summer’s buyouts.

That means LANG will cut more than 65 positions among its eleven local dailies, anchored by the Daily News and the bought-out-of-torturous-bankruptcy Orange County Register.

(Ironically, a bankruptcy court allowed DFM/LANG to buy the Register last year, citing, in part, its ability to maintain the Register as a local news company.)

That means that a company that as recently as mid-year 2017 paid 380 daily journalists will now pay no more than 250.

Already, many of the remaining newsrooms have been described by visitors as “skeletal.” Soon, archeologists may be required to find the bones.”-Ken Doctor 1-19-18

      • I think Austin Jackson will be excellent.
While, solid Chris Brown is in his last season, Hemsley, Nathan Smith and Frank Martin will hopefully step up and be ready.
        Center is loaded.
Vorhees looks like a winner, plus the hyphenator is very promising. We’ll see about McKenzie.
We also have Nathan Smith for RT once Edoga leaves.

Adding Sewell will be enough for this class. (I’d put money on him joining us, he just had to wait for a roster spot to open — otherwise he would have declared when he said he would).

        • Yeah it did.
I wanted him the most for signing day.
For what it’s worth it was either Gerard Martinez, Scott Schroeder or one of the other SC recruiting guys that said “if you want me to be honest I actually think SC dodged a bullet with Sewell not picking SC”……he said something like Sewell has a terrible motor and is not motivated to compete against players at USC and Alabama, that he went with a safe choice at Oregon where he wouldn’t have to fight for playing time as to where at SC or Bama he would have to stay on his toes.

I know that sounds like maybe we are just being poor losers but for one of those SC guys to say that makes feel a little bit better.

          Just a little bit.

          • Sounds like sour grapes to me. We never heard that before a week ago when we thought he was a lock.

          • Maybe. And when it’s all said and done Clay Helton and Neil Callaway lose this battle for good reason when Oregon’s HC Coached Bama’s OL to a National Championship and USC led the nation in sacks. Helton should have asked for enough in his deal for the opportunity to get an “in demand” OL Coach/DB Coach.

Not saying he’ll be special or anything but don’t be surprised he’s playing OT this season.

          • That’s the thing sas. We bring in great talent but go cheap on the assistant coaches. it makes no sense to me. I expect this across town but not with us.

          • Hi hear you loud and clear. 100%. We are always going cheap and while others are at least trying to spend money to make (A&M backed up the truck for Jimbo Fi$her) we continue to be a bunch right a**es with the check book.

          • Seems like the school wastes money on inanimate objects instead of living human beings. How about less buildings and more money for our staff?

          • Schrader never said it. Everyone else including bama wanted him, if he was a slacker that wouldn’t be.

    • Yeah but who in blazes is going to teach them anything with this coaching staff that no one else would hire?

    • Everybody take a deep breath. There was a post on “Inside UCLA” yesterday, so I don’t think they’ve turned out the lights yet. Ol’ Wolfie probably just got tired of the abuse he takes here and has run off to a retreat to find his inner reporter while we all twist here begging him back.

        • Didn’t seem to matter before and now it suddenly does. He has not liked Bradford’s approach.

          • Always something with 17 yr olds.. we’ll see how it goes, Helton has a visit with him tonight too..

          • But even though I don’t follow recruiting much anymore until the last few days, for some reason there’s all this free info everywhere about Bradford and Irvin’s dad.

So much info just out there. It just comes out in so many ways, but the picture painted of Bradford is never pretty from what I see. Maybe he’s getting a raw deal. Or maybe where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

          • He was all ND during the early signing period, then backed off because of his mom getting sick..said he wanted to stay close, now it’s bama or the huskies?? He’s been at SC 2 of the last 4 weeks, if they’re so down on Bradford that makes no sense either..

          • For some kids, it doesn’t matter who the coach is, they’re going to a school they have always liked. USC certainly gets its fair share of those who won’t be dissuaded by any coach. I would have been one of those types.

I doubt Bradford flat out turns off kids as much as he’s just not the type to take a kid from a school that was more likely to get him in the first place.

            That said, coffee’s for closers.

        • I don’t know why people don’t like Bradford? Do you? It just seems to be a pervasive narrative.

          • Personally, I just think our DBs have not played up to their abilities. I’m not there and I’m not expert, but someone must be responsible. It’s all happening on Bradford’s watch.

          • Don’t you think it’s just as likely that USC’s CBs have always been over-rated talent-wise? Just because people like Grabby were given 5 stars by recruiting services doesn’t mean they deserved it.

From what I’ve seen, Grabby just doesn’t have the talent to play CB well, regardless of his coach. It coaches could make everyone great, “evaluation” wouldn’t matter.

          • I don’t know if it was one of Wolf’s reports, but some NFL guy reportedly said our CBs look like they are doing something (technique-wise) different every play.

I can’t believe that all our DBs are over-rated. This isn’t “Stripes” where a proven drill sergeant gets an entire platoon of jokers and misfits (though watching our DBs fall down on so many plays in 2017…I may need to re-think that…LOL!)

          • I don’t think all of our DBs are over-rated talent-wise. That would obviously be false and biased. But a few are and Grabby is definitely one of them. Deion Sanders couldn’t make Grabby a good college or NFL corner if he worked with him 24 hours a day. It doesn’t take an experienced coach to see that.

          • These kids on the USC fence don’t want to compete for playing time.. They want a position handed to them before signing on.. Beat it, others will compete and earn playing time..

      • Read in the Seattle times that the Irvin’s cancelled their in-home with Saban, hmmm. Huskies?
        Either way, today’s the day.

        • Sure as heck hope so. He’s my key guy. We’ve got to start winning the battles for the big uglies. So tired of our OLs just getting blown out by the elites. No way to go through a season.

          • To me he’s the linchpin of the whole class, it’s very good without him but could well be great with him.

  15. helton has a plan, 6 punters and kickers and 3 o linemen, his new math, latest walk on is both a punter and kicker so he is gaining one extra spot, he uses one more roster spot but he also gains one more spot which means he can another kicker punter, SC will be well prepared for 4th downs

  16. Same post up for 24 hours? Somebody get a notice from the Daily News? Maybe though the blogger just feels the importance of 3rd string walk on kicker.

    • I’m thinking perhaps Wolf is down with the flu. But newspapers are a pretty iffy business.

  17. As of right now the SOTU speech is underway and the ‘white-left’ is apoplectic this has hit them on their back sides.

  18. Not sure what is going on with Wolf, but I couldn’t get an email to go through to him tonight. It was rejected, so I sent one to Kaufman to see if he will respond.

  19. Think the Wolf Man is on a well needed vacation. I think that each of us working together can run Inside USC: Sas and Pudly can give us the inside scoop on recruiting. Michael G, SteveG, Gabby, and all other fellow alums can give us some historical posts. The rest us will offer a fan’s perspective.

I’ll start. Question of the Day: Will USC land a Top 5 recruiting class?

      • Sounds like it’s gonna be a long one. Had a good run, SAS. Maybe another blog comment section will pick up steam.

        • This s*cks. We were responsible for this blog lasting this long anyways. They owe us a gift basket or some jersey mikes gift cards. Hahaha!
It was pleasure knowing you bro! I’ll post over at ROT but not as much I guess since there won’t be many over there.

          TUSK✌

    • So the tired out excuse that some like to use about the NCAA sanctions severely depleting the Trojans football roster doesn’t hold water.

Some idiots here are trying to make others believe that the Trojans only had 41 players available to use for the year. And another idiot claims that there were games when USC only had one WR available to play.

      LOL!

      • You’re the idiot, still and always, no matter what drivel you put out.. fact of the matter is what was reported, not your opinion on it. That is a fact. Your opinion continues to be no more than drivel, spittle if you will, dripping off your face.. whether or not you accept multiple reports from credible news agencies doesn’t change those facts…putsz
        Hillbilly troll.

        • Hey idiot, where’s the link substantiating your claim that USC only had one WR available to play in some games that season?

Here is your bogus claim that you wrote yesterday,

          Pudly76 Trojans 6942 • a day ago

“There were other games with a single receiver too..”

          LOL!

          • I’m playing like you now..you prove it didn’t happen.. you turd for brain…I don’t have to prove a thing to you. You don’t prove anything, why should I?
            Hillbilly troll.

          • Unlike you I posted up facts. You claim that USC only had one WR available to use during some games that season, which games were they? Back up your claim, list the games where that happened and I’ll post the game logs showing otherwise proving again that you’re full of crap and that you have no clue what you’re talking about.

You’ve been called out, Bozo. Now quit lying and trying to make up crap.

          • You posted no facts just a roster, that didn’t even show who were scholarships or not or who was injured or not. Tool. No facts. Facts were given to you in different articles yesterday and you refused to acknowledge them..F’off hillbilly. I won’t waste any time or effort on you, you’re useless..
            Hillbilly troll.

          • So your claim that during games that season USC only had one WR available to use, you’re admitting you can’t back up that claim with any facts.

Okay, you’re ruined. You lied and just admitted it. Now shut up and quit lying.

          • You’re an idiot if there ever was..I don’t need to prove anything to you, yesterday when you were presented with articles you didn’t accept them, why would I waste my time or energy on a slug like you…go back under your rock you hillbilly troll..

          • Again, you can’t back up your claim with any facts, therefor you lied and everyone knows it. So you’re a liar and don’t know crap about what you’re talking about.

Now stop embarrassing yourself and quit lying.

          • I’ve been dry, you should try it you hillbilly putsz.. you’re an embarrassment to your mama.

          • From yesterday
You and Gary Klein need to pull your heads out of your arse. Look at the 2014 USC Trojans roster, you telling me most of those players were injured.
“attrition” due to the NCAA, with that roster?
LOL! Like I said, try harder.

You hillbilly troll, why would I waste more time

          • Exactly right, the other idiot like you claimed that USC only had 41 players available for games that season, that’s a lie and I proved him wrong.

            What else you got, idiot?

          • You proved only that you can’t read, the article clrearly stated we were 40+ scholarships short and that’s a fact. You don’t have to believe it Hillbilly Troll, because like 2+2=4, it doesn’t matter what you believe… go sniff another fire hydrant and embarrass your mama again.

          • No, you can’t read. Your idiot buddy was talking about how many scholarship players were brought to a bowl game (41) insinuating that those were the only scholarship players on a depleted roster and it wasn’t true. However many players a coach cares to take to a road game or bowl game is his decision. But then you clowns claim that that’s all the players the Trojans had available to play and you’re wrong. That’s why I posted the roster players from each year you clowns tried to say were shorthanded of players due to NCAA sanctions, when they weren’t.

I posted the roster players from each year proving you and the other idiot wrong.

You’re done, son and you know it. Now quit lying and making crap up.

          • Your still so stupid you make talking to dirt interesting… doesn’t matter how you try to weasel out your still a weasel.
            Hillbilly troll.

          • You’ve proved nothing to no one. You’re such a fool you talk to yourself and act like you have an audience, delusional hillbilly troll..

          • That year when they played Notre Dame. Becouse of injuries to players during the game. They had to play a fullback at Rb. In the second half. Lee went out with a injury and they were down to one wr. no tight ends and no rb’s in the second half. It was coach O’s second game after coming head coach. Talking about scholarship players.

          • Nope, USC had Silas Redd, Buck Allen, Justin Davis and Ty Isaac all playing in that game. WR’s who played in that game, Nelson Agholor, Darreus Rogers, Marqise Lee, De’Von Flournoy. Even FB’s Jahleel Pinner and Soma Vainuku caught passes that game.

            LOL!

You want to keep going, I can ruin you clowns all day.

      • That’s over a 100 names you can only have 85 scholarships. Look at some of those names lb Nick Schlossberg, really u think he was on a scholarship wait how about Qb. Anthony Neyer. These are affiliated roster players NOT scholarship players. Are you a SC fan. Can’t you remember anything if you are, roster spots don’t mean scholarship players also injuries, academic failures, transfers was the point not opening day rosters.

        • I never said they were all scholarship players. You claimed that only 41 players from that roster were available for games, that’s not true.

          • Dude I said they went to a road game with 42 players. scholarship players. WTF. Can’t you understand.

          • No I showed you articles of two times when it said 44, 41 less. But this all started with me saying that they went on a road game with 42 players. Scholarship players, then for some reason you showed the 2014 roster which had/has nothing to do with my statement. Look man I’m not trying to be right over you. I’m just telling you, your dead wrong about sanctions not destroying this program. But quite frankly I’m befuddled by your lack of knowledge or memory in this matter.

    • Dude, you’re off your rocker. Please take the meds and give us a break

(did the daily news fire you?)

      • That’s the end of him for a while…hate to block anyone but he was using up to much space on this page..

        • The guy use to pop off every once and awhile, then lately he’s been out of control. Do you think it’s wolf venting his anger over a layoff

          • No, wolf would be more creative in his attacks. Don’t think he’d spend the energy if he was laid off..I’m hoping maybe he’s just sick..I had the bug and it knocked me for a loop for a bit..

      • Appears that could be..we have four others who are pretty highly rated either signed or looking good… four out of five isn’t bad.

        • Help me here.
          Griffin seems in
          LB from MD in
Then Sewell and Issac-Stewart which are 50/50
          Irvin seems headed to Washington.
We have the commits,JT,St brown ,Trout and DL up north.

Then there”s D. Williams.I read a story about his life, road to even get through high school. Really rooting for this kid to succeed.
Hope he comes to USC and creates a foundation education and excels on field.

          AM I MISSING ANYBODY?

          • There’s a possibility for Elija Stewart, an Oregon commit flipping if Solo doesn’t come… there are other options still out there. Sewell looks like he’s in according to some..talk of him rooming with Paliae’a already.

          • There’s a rumor about the MD guard Murray and his mother’s reluctance to let him go to the ruins… but to me he’s not that big?? If we had room we could offer, but again I think he’s not really our size guy.

          • With spots at a premium, questions remain with transfers in and out , The class will be in play after signing day. I think grad transfers have until summer classes start to enroll.I also think that’s when we have to be at 85.
I’m not sure we need bodies on OL. Only Sewell remains in play with who could see time next season and maybe start in 19..

          • looks like many will go to we are sc if this is
Inside “Swann song”. I just signed up as Petero see you all there ?

        • Can we film the operation?
          Is the head dead yet?
You know, the boys in the newsroom got a running bet
Get the widow on the set!
          We need dirty laundry

          • Like there are any conservative rock stars, Kissy86er. Your grasp of the obvious is truly hilarious. Or perhaps it’s an early sign of your demise- we report, you decide.

    • Word on the street is that Wolf is holding out for a new contract with INSIDE USC. Supposedly he’s asking for more donuts per hour and longer paid (In Donuts) vacation days. He also is requesting to be able to not have to leave his mother’s basement at all for field reporting. This is all just speculation and his mom may have just forgotten to pay the WiFi bill.

  21. USC with the third most ever in Super Bowl since merger..Miami leads with 62, then the Vols with 61…

    • I had read that Aghlor would be the 111th Trojan playing in the Superbowl. Now reminder, even one play plays in four superbowls, that count as four different people. An example is Lynn Swann. He played in four super bowls but he is counted as four different people because he played in four different years.

      • 60. As in 60 different people. Not total appearances. Pasadena Trojan says that number is higher..

  22. ” The managers of the SoCal News Group have already said that this week’s firings are just the first of three waves, to be followed next month by the news side and in March by page designers. There’s no reason to think it will stop there, since the motivation appears to be to cut costs so that Digital First Media, the parent company of the news group, can be sold off by its hedge fund owner. similar deep cuts are happening at the DFM papers in Northern California, including the San Jose Mercury — which used to have a 400-person newsroom, but now is down to 39.

At the Los Angeles Daily News, longtime sports columnist Tom Hoffarth tweeted tonight that he was one of the departing. Hoffarth, as far as I know, was the last local sports staffer covering sports media. His diligence on the beat and regional memory will be hugely missed. He was with the Daily News for 26 years, and before that spent 10 years at the Daily Breeze.

The staff gatherings were told a week ago that the photo staffs would be hard hit, and it appears that they were. We only know details this far about the Daily Breeze. There, a tweet by reporter Valerie Osier reported that nearly all of the photographers were laid off. Elsewhere on social media it was reported there was one Breeze photographer left. Staffers speculated that reporters would start taking pictures for stories now.”

I’d say this blog is DEAD

  23. Scooter, did your mom take away your freedom and place you in your room because you argued with her about who was taking out the trash?

    • Um, he’s sick. My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows the guy who’s going with the girl who saw Wolfman pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.

  24. Sounds like Wolf is gone. I guess I will be over at WeAreSC as stevo. Been great and a lot of fun with all of you.

  25. Every day I come by this blog. And I see that the Wolfman kicked the crotch of every rah rahs in here, and it’s great. But you know what the best part of my day is? It’s for about two seconds from when I type in the URL and the page is loading. Because I think maybe the page will open up and the Wolfman won’t be there. No goodbye, no see you later, no nothin’. Just left.

  26. If Hoffarth is gone, Wolf is probably also…

January 2018: At least 10 staffers in sports and a whole bunch of photographers were let go Monday by the Southern California News Group papers. The cuts were telegraphed just over a week ago in somber Friday afternoon staff gatherings. Today the first journalists found out their jobs were ending.

At the Los Angeles Daily News, longtime sports columnist Tom Hoffarth tweeted tonight that he was one the departing. Hoffarth, as far as I know, was the last local sports staffer covering sports media. His diligence on the beat and regional memory will be hugely missed. He was with the Daily News for 26 years, and before that spent 10 years at the Daily Breeze.

  27. This is what happens, Rah rahs! See what happens, Rah rahs?! Do you see what happens when you get f***ed by the wolfman in the @$$, this is what happens! See what happens, Rah rahs?! You see what happens, Rah rahs?! Do you see what happens, Rah rahs, when you get f***ed by the Wolfman in the @$$?! This is what happens, Rah rahs! This is what happens, Rah rahs!

  28. Well, I guess it’s goodbye, y’all. I might even end up missing those sad sack SUCLA trolls, which highlights how pathetic all of this is!!!

  29. It was a great ride!……Hope to see all you guys on WeAreUSC. I’ll go over there and starting causing some trouble(just joking)….

  30. “Goodbye everybody. Thanks for the use of the Hall.”

    Fight On!!!

    Oh Magoo!!!

    And Remember…

“Some people think football is a matter of life and death.
I am very disappointed with that attitude.
I can assure you it’s much more important than that…”
    – Shankly / Sanders …

    • #3……

      HARD #3.

      Why?

ESPN finds a way to not pick Pac12 kids 5-Stars based on the fact that the conference hasn’t won a National Championship since 2004. They drop kids rankings when USC gets them and not when Bama or Ohio State gets them. They truly have a problem with the Pac12/USC.

But we had 5 5⭐kids and that’s old Pete Carroll waters right there. The rest were all 4⭐’s except the OT we had and the late addition of John Jackson’s son.
I think this LB group is one of the best I’ve ever seen USC have on paper. Amon Ra St. Brown is supposed to play immediately according to everyone. That’s how good they believe he is. Greg Biggins said be mat be the best WR (Route/Smart) he’s ever covered. That’s a big time statement.

We had a really good class
