No more nerves
Freshman quarterback Mark Sanchez admitted before spring practice he would feel some nervousness but after an abundance of reps following John David Booty's back injury during the first week of spring drills, Sanchez feels like a seasoned pro.
``I'm past the threshold of being nervous and being a young player,'' Sanchez said.
Asked if his arm got sore in practices, Sanchez said, ``rubber-arm baby. I don't even flinch any more when they call the second team out because a lot of times I'm taking their reps too.''
By the way, the Trojans added walk-on quarterback Kevin Livermore from San Bernardino Valley College, so the scout team doesn't feel lonely.

i think regardless of what Mark does during this spring and in the fall practice J.D will start the season as the starting quarterback. i think PC owes it to him.
i tend to agree. jd booty has done everything that's been asked of him. be patient. watch. learn. not giving him the benefit of the doubt doesn't give future recruits the right message.
While I agree with your opinion...it does go against Carroll's mandate of the best player playing, competition and all that.
Booty is clearly the leader and as you suggest, I fully anticipate him being the starter. he's going to need to come out of summer workouts strong though...if he's still injured and it shows, Mark will be inserted early.
It's obvious that USC has had some problems with the spread offense. More teams are moving to the spread or incorporating elements of it. Are the Trojans spending any time this spring learning how to stop the spread?
