Poster doesn't go all the way
USC spring practice is more than the ongoing quarterback controversy.
There could be an interesting and unexpected addition to the football team, perhaps as soon as today's practice. More on that later.
In the meantime, USC released its schedule poster this week.
Always a popular item, the poster is puzzling because it contains the word ''Encore'' as its theme for next season.
Encore? Last time we checked, USC did not win the national championship for the first time in three years. Are the marketing folks hoping the Trojans finish second next year? Actually, it might not be a bad goal, considering Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart and LenDale White are no longer around.
''So does this mean we will go 12-1 and lose in the national championship game?'' an athletic deptartment employee quipped.
The Trojans went out and won 34 games straight. That streak is over...let's do it again. One might say we are looking for an "Encore" performance. You may choose not to get it, but it struck a chord with me in a very positive way.
