Station break

So it looks like USC is changing radio stations, leaving 1540-AM for 710-AM, which has a much stronger signal. That's the main reason for the change, which takes effect next season. There's been complaints for several years, especially in Orange County, that fans could not get clear enough reception to hear games.

Great news! Hope this means that unlistenable homer, Arbogast will no longer be calling games.

Love the blog Scott!!

Scott: Do you know of a station that carries SC games on the Central Coast?

I miss the old days when SC football was on KNX Newsradio with Arbogast and Fred Gallagher. SC football, KNX's strong radio signal, and the old drama hour made KNX the best station in LA on Saturday night drives back to the O.C. after another SC victory at the Coliseum......

You obviously can't judge a program on one play in a big game. It was injuries to the defense and inept special teams play that haunted SC all last season and finally caught up to it. The Trojans could have lost four games but didn't. They showed character and guts. So they got beat by 3 points to Texas? Tough loss but it was as exciting a season as I can remember through 40-plus years as an SC fan. And I was sitting in the Texas section at the Rose Bowl. Even better days lie ahead.

LOVE IT THAT USC IS MOVING TO A GREAT SIGNAL LIKE 710! WOW, A STATION THAT YOU CAN HEAR!

Thankfully SC has moved off of 1540 to a station that can be heard all over town. Honestly, I cannot receive 1540 from the basement of my job which is located in Santa Monica, the home of 1540. Now would be a great time for Petros and Dave Smith to also move to a station where their great programs can be heard.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
