So Where Are We Now?

What’s the latest with USC quarterback Mark Sanchez?
A knowledgeable USC source given an opportunity to glance at the facts of the alleged sexual assault said his/her initial impression was that Sanchez had pretty good case. That’s not a prediction of what will happen, merely an opinion of someone with expertise in these matters.
Another factor I alluded to last night is that several witnesses could emerge that will bolster Sanchez’s version of events. That would be in addition to what Sanchez’s roommate, linebacker Brian Cushing, says happened in the apartment.
None of this is meant to exonerate Sanchez, just giving a little insight into what I’m hearing.

I have a question that I thought any news reporter would already have asked: if Sanchez is not charged or is found innocent of the sexual assault and he completes this semester, does he face suspension or expulsion for the fake ID and underage drinking?

USC wouldn't have enough students to pay the bills if that standard was applied to every student that got caught drinking underage or with a fake ID.

USC wouldn't have enough students, but I'm not sure that same standard would apply to the football team. I have to believe that PC has rules about those kind of things (including underage drinking in general)that would impact his availability to the team. Seems to me that he let the team down regardless of the facts of the alleged assault.....

Sanchez would be punished according to the Code of Conduct rules that the football team has under Coach Carroll and the Student Body..

Any punishment would be minor, underage drinking im sure is not viewed the same way as having over a hundred ecstasy pills in one's room.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
