Curious Choices
If you drive around the Galen Center, you will notice several large brick murals on the corners of the under-construction basketball arena. So far, the non-athletic motifs seem most noticeable, with ballet dancers, a musician playing a saxophone and graduating students among the highest-profile murals.
This would seem to follow president Steven Sample's edict that the arena be known as an ``events center'' more than an athletic facility. It always seemed like a reasonable title for the building, if the university actually coughed up some cash for it

Oh gawd... I can imagine how that can happen. 3:00 in the morning after drinking and partying, an apartment full of people, a trip to a guys room and God knows what sort of feeling up and pressuring (obviously we don't know who said or did what besides no sex occurring). And then the phone call, perhps with the way kids edit... And a concerned mamma calls the police.
I'm just glad to know that no matter what, there isn't the allegation of rape. Should the allegations be found unsubstantiated, it will be much easier to deal with in terms of reputation than it would with rape, even if also unsubstantiated. If he is guilty (and there seems to be little evidence of this) the girl had relatively less traumatic experience than being rape, as was reported by some media.
John, that's an interesting take on the whole "events center" vs. "athletic facility" debate.
Fight On!
