Jersey Talk
The focus was on recruiting with USC coach Pete Carroll, UCLA coach Karl Dorrell and Notre Dame’s Charlie Weis among those attending the Stanford Nike Camp.
But as predicted, it was also a time to bring up other issues. Carroll approached Dorrell on Saturday and discussed the idea of reviving the tradition of USC and UCLA wearing their home jerseys in the crosstown rivalry.
The last time that happened was 1982 before the NCAA prohibited the unique practice. It’s believed the NCAA would allow each team to wear their home jerseys if the schools agreed and Carroll is a firm supporter.

Scott:
can you continue to follow up on bringing back the home jersey tradition to the UCLA v. USC game? The discussions seems to die during the season. Can you also ask UCLA's beat writer to follow up? It would be great to bring it back. It made the game unique. Thanks for the update.

Scott,
You've taken a lot of heat from 'SC alums. Some of it justified, most of it not. But, I have to say, there may be something to what is being said because you've mainly pointed out the negatives with the program and very few pieces on the good within.
Case in point...this past Friday, a former player returned to 'SC to get his degree. SI.com has a piece on it, as do other sites. But, no mention of it from you.
Maybe if you threw in one of these feel good stories every now and then (even if it is to appease us), you wouldn't catch so much heat.

Negative? I've found Scott to be a bit on the rah rah side, something I don't think it is a journalist's job to do. I think some like MT want a cheerleader, not a reporter. Appreciate the blog, although the posts on who is dating whom leave me cold. I'm an alum who'd rather read about football, good or bad. I don't need sugarcoating.

MT....did you write these same letters to the LA Times, OC Register and others?...I highly doubt it...
me?...I like reading about the dating stuff...it's like a TV or radio, kids...if you don't like it...turn it off...it's that simple....

I don't care about who is dating whom, I was referring to Daylon McCutcheon going back to school and getting his degree.
