Not to spend too much time on this issue, but USC coach Pete Carroll had not received the California organization's letter Friday. It's also a little strange the group released the letter May 12 but dated it May 3.

Mark Sanchez's arraignment is on May 17, isn't it? Becuase of recent stories that hint that the case against Mark is not that strong, the timing and tone strongly suggest this letter is designed to influence the D.A. into filing charges.
That's what irritates me about the press, not anyone in particular, but the press in general. The first question I'd ask NOW is whether they sent a copy to the D.A.? Then I'd ask whether they spoke to or are speaking with anyone in the DA's office. Whether or not they did is besides the point, any article I'd write would somehow mention their answers to the above questions, though whether it would get through the editors, especially at the LAT, for example, is another issue.
These interest groups do this stuff all the time, from Operation Rescue to NOW, from the Minutemen to La Raza, yet simple, obvious questions questions as to motive and intent are rarely asked or reported. And folks wonder why the press is held in low esteem.

This story is all over the newspapers, and I'd agree that the real questions are not being asked. I'd like to hear if the "victim" is anyway associated with NOW or is anyone associated with NOW was giving advice to her prior to Mark Sanchez's arrest.

Not sure why you find it "strange" that the letter dated the 3rd hadn't been seen by Pete Carroll as of the 12th??? It seems perfectly clear to me that Pete pays as much attention to his mail as he does to his "males".

What a joke. I can't think of a special interest group that I care less about.
"Gender-based crime"? What the hell does that mean?
I am still waiting for a men's group to write the university representing the "interests" of the dude who Maualuga hit.
