Some Sanchez Background
A little more information is coming out regarding the circumstances of the sexual-assault arrest of USC quarterback Mark Sanchez. According to several sources, Sanchez and the alleged victim met at his apartment and engaged in some sexual activity but did not have sexual intercourse.
The alleged victim left Sanchez’s apartment and several hours later called her mother and told her what happened, sources said. Her mother then telephoned the police, which led to the eventual arrest.
Then this whole affair sounds like a "morning after regret" type of He said vs She said. Unless she really did say No / Stop to Mark during the act, I don't see what the DA could do except drop the case. I'm sure the DA might hate to do that depending on who the mother is (member in NOW; member of some other rich political party group; wealthy family, etc?), but in the end, I'm sure the DA will drop charges.
As a tax payer, I think the LA Police wasted alot of money using 5 cars and a helicopter to arrest Mark. Why couldn't a single detective just go up and request that he report downtown for an investigation. I don't understand what the expensive "grandstand" arrest was all about.
This whole case is starting to sound like there might be racial elements involved? LA PD coming down hard; a mother who didn't want her daughter to date "one of them"?

What do you mean, they ... "engaged in some sexual activity but did not have sex." Do you mean they engaged in some sexual activity but did not have sexual intercourse? Kinda like Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky?
Did the daugther report to the mother that it was not consensual or did the mother just jump to that conclusion becuase who would imagine that their daugther would do such a thing?
Scott: are you going to run with this story in the Daily News?
If this is factual it seems only fair to get this information out to the real public.
This report puts a different "spin" on the matter. It's my hope that this is nothng more than a parent being "overly involved" with their daughter's life. Many a parent has jumped the gun and overstepped their bounds. My cynical side asks the question, "is Mom a Bruin?"
If the mother did over reach, the legal system should play out OK for both the young lady and Mark Sanchez can get on with their lives without bringing this mess into a court room.

No one wants USC to become like Nebraska opening the door by having athletes sign promises to pay cash for transgressions, real or not to keep them hushed. (confirmed in 60 Minutes report Scott so you can publish this).
It's good to their letting this play out for a whole bunch of reasons.

If what Scott is reporting is true... this woman should have to re-pay the city for all the time wasted on this witch hunt!!! I for one believe that it was racially motivated... because Mark Sanchez having a hispanic last name.
The girl's mother must of just watched one of those anti-immagration rally's.
If this is all true, it would be sick for the judge to give MS a 200K bail. Doesn't make any sense.
