The Role of Bush?
It can be foolish to talk about a recruit who commits well before graduating from high school. One example is Mater Dei forward Taylor King, who committed to UCLA as a freshman and two years later committed to Duke.
But I think the projected role of Servite running back D.J. Shoemate, who committed last week despite being a sophomore, is intriguing enough to discuss.
According to a source, Shoemate is expected to be ``a lot like Reggie Bush,'' which means he will line up at tailback and also wide receiver. That was the biggest headache for defenses that played USC the past few years and it speaks highly of Shoemate.

Is playing both running back and receiver an issue of talent or design? Having running backs go out for a pass is not that uncommon. It just seemed that RB was such a running talent, that they looked for more ways to get him the ball, especially in the open field. The receiver role was one of design to take advantage of his running ability rather than some special receiver ability.
