Trojans For Life?
Nebraska coach Bill Callahan just spoke to a recently departed USC assistant coach for some pointers on dealing with the Trojans next season. It's becoming a popular pastime, apparently, after we reported in March that a former USC assistant called one of the Trojans' nonconference opponents and offered advice for next year's game.

Just guessin' that it's Jethro Franklin. He's recently departed and he was a staff coach at the offense-defense football camps along with Callahan.
Methinks that the break with Franklin was not all that amicable.
Actually, maybe not. Both he and Burns were hired by Monte Kiffin, and I am assuming that Monte and PC are still close.
Maybe it's Tim Davis. Or Chow. Or who cares? More interesting question is whether this is common practice or not.
The irony is, PC hires a coach, the coach improves, gets a better gig which probably also includes a rai$e not to mention adding his USC accolades to his resume....Then to go out and try to F#%^over the Trojan hand that fed them....
My guess is Tim Davis. He was a Chow guy and both Callahan and Davis have ties to Wisconsin.
Well if Callahan feels the need to try and get some pointers from former coaches... I think Nebraska might be in a little more trouble than they bargined for... yeah they can get a tip here or there... but SC like all teams change formations... youhave to remember Coach Carroll does come from the NFL so he has some idea how to do it...
If these runors are true about former coaches giving out information... well that's unethical... but I doubt it will change anything... SC has more talent and much better coaching than Nebraska... this coming from a Raiders fan who saw Callahan turn a Super Bowl team into a pile of ----!
You're a moron Martin. Callahan didn't ruin the Raiders-injuries, old beat up players and Al Davis ruined the Raiders. Name me another team in the NFL that could win more than four games with nine starters out to injuries and a third string QB named Rick Mirer running the show? Facts are you can't. The Raiders have been terrible ever since Callahan left-their problems go beyond anything a coach could do. That's pretty clear. I recall hearing similar things about Carroll's ability to coach when he was ran out New York. Ironic isn't it?
geezzzie guys...i thought this space was about usc... who gives a shit about al davis, the raiders or callahan....nebraska is about where they were before callahan arrived and most likely will be the same after he's gone.....!!! sc's going to kick their butts in about 120+ days !!!
I have to agree with The Cheat. Al Davis ruined the Raiders, not Bill Callahan.
TheCheat .. I totally diagree... It wasn't Al davis who have every player on the roster hating on Callahan... I mean you you have a guy like Tim Brown throwing you under the bus... what kind of fool are you???
That's doesn't matter... USC will beat Nebraska next year and the year after that!
If Scott knows so does everybody in the coaching world. Talk about burning bridges and giving yourself a bad rep. I don't think that sort of thing goes down well in the coaching world. Even if you were screwed over, you don't do that. Move on and do something to get where you want to go. Not that. Betcha we'll here "who" mentioned in a sports magazine in the next two months...
What's the big deal with giving advice? I've got some free advice for Nebraska: recruit big, fast, highly skilled players that are nationally ranked by the recruiting services, and do this at every position. That's working for Pete. Simple.
